Been a resident in DC, MD, and VA. Ahhhh the home of Old Bay, crabs, and GoGo....just came back to MFP after becoming a "slacker" while working on my doctorate. I'm getting back on track with my workouts and joined a couple of running clubs.

You can have some low fat cheese on foods (like Parmesan or cottage cheese.) I sprinkled a little parmesan on my egg white omelette this morning. Gives the taste of cheese without loading it down with fat.

It's a group geared toward health disparity in the African American community. African Americans are at higher risk for many health problems and its intention is to encourage exercise among black women in various regions......does not sound racist to me, simply a proactive way to encourage fitness to those at risk.

I just signed up to try to start BGR.

I started today. I think I'll like it, just hard to stay away from bread. We can do it!

Gotta get my sexy back...

Just cleaned the fridge and bought groceries to start phase 1 today...

I understand how you feel. I went from 260 to 189. Now I'm back to 223 since I went back to school for my doctorate. Soooooo I am working on getting rid of my weight and get down to at least 160.

The elliptical is an aerobic exercise. It would help with cardiovascular endurance, it wouldn't necessarily be equivalent to weights. Lifting weights would recruit muscles to help with muscular strength or endurance ( depending on your goal). I enjoy doing both weights and the elliptical.

At least it is not just me. Ugh, it is crazy how "obsessive" you have to be. I have read a few articles in the last few days about PCOS and eating disorder. Body image issues and binging should not be a way to live. I have lost a lot but if I did not monitor every morsel I consumed it would be right back on.

It is not abnormal for new grads to take up to 6 months to find employment. You will get there. I graduated twice and unless you have a job lined up it takes a few months.

Don't forget weigh ins. I will try to post congrats etc from last week but electricity is out, so it may be a day or 2 before I get to the computer. Using my cell right now.
-
The start date is Sunday August 21, 2011. You can send in initial measurements now or on Sunday. Weigh in is Saturday. If it is a conflict for you to weigh in that date that is fine. I just made it on Saturday so that you have a full 7 days to get in exercise etc. Week 1: August 21, 2011-> August 27, 2011 ******at the end…

I really wish there was a stronger group feature on this website to put everything together:0/........I am going with: 1. Starting the challenge on Sunday 8/21 ends December 2. Weigh in/record on Saturdays (on MFP like you normally do, if you would like message me on Saturday (in order to include exercise time from…

So start on Sunday???? I am thinking weigh in and input every Friday or Saturday. If anyone wants to help and "administrate" that is fine. I will try and stay on top of things. Feel free to start topics and include Soul Cysters 40 in 4 as the header. Mini goal/challenge\goal: 1. Let's aim this week for 300 minutes of…

Stevia in the raw tasted kind of nasty to me personally I like the brand Truvia. Stevia in the raw had an aftertaste.

I have dark spots on my inner thighs and are mildly present at underarms. It does fade as you lose weight, mine have. I use black soap and other natural soaps along with vitamin c serum and nutraderm lotion and it helps for some reason. Not sure if there is clinical evidence on what works.maybe the dermadoctor website has…

It curbs your appetite and has helped to control weight. It slows digestion so you end up fuller longer. I lost about 35 pounds while taking it with metformin in the last 3- 4 months. I was taking met first progressing from 1000 to 2000 mg for several weeks then I went back to get the byetta. They both can make you…

Look up docs on www.socrei.org there is a feature on the website that lets you look up physicians/members by state. I have PCOS too and have a great doctor that is a member (society for reproductive endocrinology and infertility.)

Can't really give you an answer as it depends on your insurance and whether you take 5mcg or 10mcg. I work in healthcare and am self employed so I have to purchase my own insurance which unfortunately barely covers anything because thanks to being diagnosed with the PCOS no company will underwrite me since I take metformin…

Well prepare yourself for the bubble guts. It will jack your stomach up when you start it but gradually gets better. My doctor had me gradually increase my dose so it would not be so bad. If you don't eat excessive carbs and sugar the meds are more agreeable.

Turbofire is pretty good. Kind of seems like a ladies version of Insanity but a little less intense. A lot of jumping, kickboxing rapid pace kind of stuff. Music selection is kind of annoying sometimes though. " Play that funky music white boy" not on my top 10. LOL! You have the option to turn off the music though.

Depends how strong you are really. I use the Bowflex Selecttech weights so I can dial anywhere from 5 to 52.5# ( found it cheapest at amazon at the time). But your estimate is probably right....the only thing is you may need a slightly heavier weight for when you do squats ( like 20-25) and for the high rep low weight days…

I recruit my friends into doing beachbody programs. LOL. I do feel stronger with it. Chalean Extreme is my favorite workout out of all of them since it feels accomplishable. Insanity is great and all but I am kind of weak and I always struggled making it through. Asylum dear Lord it is even worse! So I knocked myself back…
