  • Pink and Jillian Michaels
  • I have several types of hot teas in my house. I found that when I am hungry if I drink a cup of hot tea I am satisfied. If that doesn't work, I have a small snack which is usually a piece of fruit, cheese stick, or a handful of pretzels.
  • I didn't tell anyone I was on a journey of weight loss. Once I started showing a good deal of weight loss family and friends started with the guilt trips about me not going out to eat much anymore. I received so much food as gifts this year too. Most of it went in the trash. I also started running this year and kept that…
  • Jillian MIchaels DVDs helped me lose all of my weight. I started with 30 Day Shred and became hooked! I bought all of her other DVDs for a variety. I still use them several times a week in addition to my running routine. Good luck!
  • I started running back in February and I just recently figured out my breathing. I was going way too fast for my body. Since slowing down a little bit, my breathing is under control. As for the stitches, make sure you are hydrated enough throughout the day as well as the days before.
  • I'm doing a Turkey Trot. The one here is a 5 miler and I'm a bit nervous. LOL The most I've ran is 3.1 miles.
  • I used to add Splenda and Coffee-mate. But I switched to just Splenda about 2 weeks ago.
  • I had that too and my husband announced at a party he thought I was skin and bones. I am not, but I'm very lean now. I started thinking the same thing you did about gaining a few pounds and quickly decided that I have worked way too hard to get where I am. I have set new goals for myself- one hundred pushups program,…
  • I don' t know if this is the best advice, but before I race I eat pasta the night before and then a high protein breakfast about 90 minutes before running. This gives me enough energy to get me through. After the race, I usually eat a Cliff bar. GOOD LUCK and enjoy! The 5K races become addicting. I started with a 5K a few…
  • I weight in the morning AND at night. I have figured out that during the day I usually fluctuate 2 lbs between the two weigh ins. So, if there is a great change I watch the next days intake a little bit more carefully.
  • AWESOME!!!!! I started with a 5k as well. I have yet to run anything more than a 5k, but my goal is to do a tri next summer. You are an inspiration :)
  • When I'm sick I still stick with my healthy foods. Soups with a broth base are usually my go-to meal and I drink a lot of hot tea. Both help me feel a little bit better and I feel full after eating/drinking. Whatever I choose to eat on those days are still logged so I can hold myself accountable. Feel better soon!
  • I started WW after my son was born. Two years later my daughter was born and I continued with WW. I didn't lose much weight at all even though I tracked everything. The points frustrated the heck out of me because it doesn't seem real. So, in 2010 I decided to do my own thing and join a free online weight tracker. Best…
  • I have said good-bye to most restaurants. If I do go out to dinner with family or friends I usually stick with a simple sandwich or soup &salad combo and catch a lot of teasing for it. LOL! There have been times when I have indulged, but I've learned how to listen to my body when it is full so I stop and ask for a to-go…
  • No advice here because I signed up for my first Mud Run as well. Mine is at the end of September and I am excited, but quite nervous. I figure I will take it slow and just have fun!
  • You can do this! I started at 225lbs and just kept pushing through. I started off small with exercise and then began to include running and other cardio/strength exercises. Do not get discouraged if you only see a .5 lb loss some weeks. Just keep moving! Also watch your clothes and how they fit. That kept me more motivated…
  • I make sure I exercise as usual and I increase my water intake. I tend to retain a lot of water during this time. Most months I end up maintaining my weight or losing a bit. I am also very careful to watch my salt intake as well and stay away from the sweets. Gala apples have satisfied my need for crunchy and sweet foods!
  • Thanks for the link Leaner! That was informative!
  • We signed up for the Pretty Muddy Womens Run in Columbus, OH. It is women only so we thought that might be a good place to start.
  • That DVD was the beginning of my weight loss. I LOVE Jillian and the DVD kicked my butt every single time. I am going to restart the program in about 2 weeks and I agree that in those 20-30 minutes she does more for you than an hour at the gym. Keep at it! It works :)
  • My dad is very supportive of everything I've ever done, including my weight loss. My mom thinks I need to eat more and becomes offended if I turn down seconds or dessert. My brother and sister in law ROCK and have encouraged me. My husband hasn't said a darn word about anything.
  • Hi Candy! I am getting ready to begin the maintenance. It scares me because I have to view this journey differently now. Before it was I want to lose a certain number of pounds by next week. Now it is I want to remain this weight and how am I going to do that?! So, I have decided that I MUST continue to record my food and…
  • We rarely eat together anymore because I can't handle going out to eat all the time. And when I do cook at home my kids eat and he might have a little, but he wants to go out and get dessert afterward. Then he ends up devouring all sorts of food later. That is teaching all the wrong things and upsets me.
  • Spa day Pedicure New clothes Time for just me I refuse to reward myself with food. Even if it is a celebration like a birthday party, I do not allow myself to overindulge becaue we are celebrating. That never ends well and brings back bad habits.
  • I understand how you feel. I only have 2 children, but I gained about 60 lbs with my daughter and she weighed 10.6lbs. I have lost 87 lbs and my biggest problem area still tends to be my stomach. It is much better since I have been doing Jillian Michaels DVDs 5 days a week and running about 3 days per week. The only way I…
  • I am a working mom with 2 kids. The best thing I ever did was to carve out 30 minutes a day for myself. I bought all the Jillian Michaels DVDs so I could workout at home. I send my kids into another room and they watch tv or play games. Everyone needs time for themselves.
  • I realized two years ago that life was getting away from me. I was always active in high school and college and then I ballooned after I got married and had kids. It took me about 18 months to lose 86 pounds, but during that time I have found myself. I love to run, play outside with my kids and just feel more confident…
  • Social eating is a tough one for me too. If I am going to a friends house, I always bring a salad or fruit so I know I can graze on that the whole time and be satisfied. As far as going out to eat, that has caused a riff between my husband and myself. If I go out to eat, I try to make healthy choices, but even then it is…
  • Cardio is not my favorite thing to do. In fact, at my highest weight I couldn't do cardio for an extended amount of time. I relied on (and still do!) the Jillian Michaels DVDs. She focuses on a lot of strength with short yet quick amounts of cardio incorporated in the routines. I am now running 3miles and still have to…
  • The first time I did the 30DS I was exhausted the first 2 weeks. I kept eating right and increased my protein intake and fruits. That seemed to help me alot with my energy.
