No real words of wisdom here, I'm also a fairly newly diagnosed diabetic and am trying to get healthy so I can control my diabetes with diet and exercise and avoid the insulin that would most likely be in my future. Just know that you're not alone and that there is some really good information on here. I need to look for…

I have a question... some of my friends are on WW and they talk about how many points a recipe is that they made... how could I translate that to calories if I wanted to do the same thing? I have the hardest time figuring out calories for a meal that I prepare at home... Any suggestions?

Congratulations on making your decision to change your life for the better! I'm a fellow bandster and like the other bandsters have mentioned, the band is a tool. A tool that can only do the work if we use it properly, same as MFP. Good luck! Looking forward to supporting you in your journey. We're all in this…

I love that stuff, but have only been able to find it *once*.... it's never there when I go back. Must be popular.

sounds yummy! Will have to try that soon. ;-)

My favorites are the chocolate fudge ones.... when you toast them, the whole house smells like brownies baking in the oven... omg! What did I have to read this topic??? Now I want some! .... they're bad for me.... they're bad for me... (repeat with me).... they're bad for me!

Sometimes we do a "cold plate"... usually chicken salad or tuna salad made with light mayo, some cottage cheese with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden, and fresh fruit. Come to think of it, I might just do that tonight.

Thank you all! I have been exercising regularly. I have some muscle tone *underneath* the skin and fat, but there's so much skin. My tummy looks like I have an extra set of boobs when I bend over... Not cool! :embarassed: I may become best friends with spanx in the meantime while I continue to work out. I will be checking…

So very inspirational! For a second I thought you were looking at pictures of the old me... Keep up the amazing work! You are doing such a wonderful thing for yourself and your loved ones!

Thanks! I love that these are made with "normal" ingredients, LOL. I don't have to go to a specialty store to find anything on this list of ingredients. I will have to try these.

I can't handle caffeine really well, it makes my heart beat fast and it freaks me out. :noway: But I do love decaf coffee. It has just enough caffeine in it that makes me not as hungry during the day. I make a travel cup (about 16 oz) in the morning with sun crystals and fat free half and half and take it with me to the…

thanks for posting! I walked 3.5 miles on Thurs night and my shins were hurting until Sunday! I also threw in some jogging intervals in that 3.5 miles.. now I know what to do.

I normally just order water with lemon or lime too. But that crystal light is a great idea. Good thing I gave up the sodas almost 3 years ago. That makes my life a little bit easier. Thank goodness. LOL Oh, and my dad is diabetic and he never tastes his tea until after he has added the sweetener to it, then he can't tell…

Y'all just had to make me look, didn't ya! LOL :blushing: And the nutella cupcakes look really good to me!

I hope y'all enjoy it! Good idea about crumbling the graham cracker on top so it doesn't get soggy!

My favorite is plain ol' lemonade. I  it! Ironically, lately I've been drinking plain water and forget to use the CL. I have about 4 boxes that have been untouched for a month or so. Now when I drink them, it's for a treat, not to just get my water in for the day (especially since I haven't had a soda for 2 years…

I added this to my wishlist on BN.com, thanks for the suggestion! :drinker:

AJWaddleson~ there is a forum just for lapbanders... it's called Lapbandtalk.com (I think). I haven't been there in forever. But it was a wonderful resource when I was preparing for my band and recovering from surgery!! Everyone on here is super-duper as well, most of us who have bands are friends and we help each other. I…

I was banded in Oct of 2008. I've been a slow loser but have a huge sweet tooth. :embarassed: Welcome aboard, I love this site and the folks are so nice! =)

So, I tried the frozen version today and realized I liked it better before I froze it... LOL. I know it said "ice cream" but I think I just wanted some cheesecakey-goodness... Maybe spread it on a graham cracker, yum.

I made this, the "batter" tastes really good. I used the whole tub of cool whip and then one thing of ff cream cheese and one thing of 1/3 less fat. (I was curious). Anyways, the calories is significantly higher because of the fatty cream cheese, but it's so rich. I used 1/4 cup of the half and half and 10 packets…

My original post in this thread: As we approach the deadline, I realize that I've not made my goals, but I'm getting better on some things. My 1st goal was to lose 20lbs by July 4th, I lost 13 and the week isn't over. Hopefully I'll get a little closer. Either way, I'm thrilled that the scale finally moved again.…

I'm the chocolate girl you were referring to...:blushing: LOL. I gave it up (cold turkey) almost 4 weeks ago (4 weeks this coming Tuesday). I haven't really missed it until ToM this week. But I'm trying to be strong. However, I've replaced my chocolateaddiction during ToM with ice cream this week. I had it 4 days this…
