  • That's awesome!! Congrats! Enjoy the fruits of your labor to get to where you are. I agree with the others, you might just need a 12!
  • Thanks for sharing your story with us! Keep up the positive attitude and remember to take baby steps. One good choice after another. They will add up to a lifestyle change that you can live with.
  • I'm currently reading Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs. But, my Nook has Sizzling Sixteen loaded and ready to go for when I finish it. I love either the paranormal romances or fun reads like Evanovich.
  • Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. Keep up the good work! You are one of the reasons I  MFP! You're a real inspiration to the rest of us. Thank goodness for the ability to share in the celebrations and in the struggles with others who are on the same path towards being fit and healthy! :drinker:
  • Sounds really good! Thanks for the tip!
  • Hi fellow Zumbaholics! I missed my class tonight because I got sick today, but am pleased to report that my dvd's arrived in the mail. So, I'm looking forward to checking them out.
  • I've found that when I first started attending the classes, I didn't burn as many calories as I do now, simply because I didn't know the steps as well. I spent more time confused than actually doing the steps. :embarassed: I'm still not all the way there, but getting bettter. Don't give up. Just get out there, shake your…
  • Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you! That''s awesome.
  • Thanks for sharing the great ideas! I don't do a strict low-carb, but I try to limit my carbs when possible and get most of them from fruits/veggies, rather than the more tasty breads and sweets. LOL

  • Thanks for your feedback, everyone! I made it through the night, so I hope I'll be ok. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one whose heart rate has gone that high. I do think I'll have to try to keep an eye on my watch more in class. It beeps at me, but the music is so pumping, I can't hear it when it beeps at me...
  • Sounds so good! I might have to give that a try too!
  • I lost 15 lbs in my first 2 weeks when I was on liquids. Then it slowed down when I started introducing foods into my diet. Good luck! I need another fill now, I can tell it's too lose. Hmmmmm....
  • There are quite a few of us on here who have lap bands. I was banded in Oct of 2008. I'm a fairly slow loser, mainly because I have a sweet tooth and I didn't give up the foods my surgeon recommended I give up... until recently. I cannot eat bread, rice, or pasta. If it will swell up after I eat it, I will vomit it back…
  • I'm Bridgette, 35 years old. I  Zumba!!! I started taking classes at my gym about 4 or 5 weeks ago and I'm so addicted! I just ordered the dvd's on Saturday because zumba has ruined me for regular exercise (the machines). Seems if I want to exercise and zumba isn't being offered, I just give up... so I'll have zumba…

  • Hey Arielle, Are you taking in a lot of "sugar-free" things that are sweetened with artificial sweeteners? Just curious, I've found that when I indulge in those things I tend to crave sweets more. I've been on a popcorn kick lately and that's not good either, but I gave up chocolate 2 weeks ago, so I guess popcorn is…
  • great idea! Thanks for sharing! I guess the lid is just to keep the popcorn confined so it doesn't go everywhere. Sweet!
  • I'm addicted to it! So much so, I had to order the dvd's for when I am going through withdrawals and the gym doesn't have a class that day!
  • I finally gave in and ordered the DVD's yesterday! I'm so excited. I attend zumba classes with an awesome instructor, but unfortunately if it's not on a Weds or a Saturday I don't want to exercise, because it's not zumba! So, I had to get the dvd's so I will get my zumba fix. The machines at the gym are torture now that…
  • I agree about how many calories burned are determined by level of effort. I've found that as I go to more classes, I learn the routines better and end up burning more calories. I am still not very good, but last Weds I burned 570 calories in class, and that's about 150 more than I burned the first time I went. I really…
  • Ok, I did it! I just ordered the Zumba dvd collection. I normally enjoy doing workout videos anyway, and I know it won't be the same as actually being in the class.. but I'm hoping for 2 things out of this. 1. That I'll learn how to do the dance steps correctly so that when I'm in the real class and she says "samba", I'll…
  • These stories are hilarious! Thank you so much for sharing! I'm sure I'm the one the folks are laughing at around my gym. Like when I jumped on an eliptical for the first time and kept pressing start, like 10 times, and it never started. Then I got off of it, quite miffed that I couldn't even get the machine to start that…
  • Up until yesterday my ticker stated that I'd lost 15 lbs (because that's how much I've lost since joining in mid-March). BUT, I changed it to reflect my highest weight almost 2 years ago when I really became serious about trying to lose the weight. Somehow seeing the bigger number reminds me of how far I've come and I'd…
  • I'm addicted to Zumba now. LOL I've been attending classes for the past month or so, and they've ruined me for regular exericse (treadmill/eliptical). I'm thinking about getting the dvd's for when I need to exercise and there is no class being offered at my gym that day. My gym has 3 different instructors, but there's one…
  • Thanks for sharing! I love the way you look at your journey and compare it to a walk with Christ! May God continue to bless you and your efforts to become a healthy vessel to serve Him.
  • I might have to try this... yummo!
  • Thanks everybody! I feel so much better now! Life is good, and Zumba is becoming my addiction. LOL
  • I was running late on my way to the gym for my Zumba class tonight so I grabbed one of my protein shakes, I think it did the trick. It wasn't a lot of food on my stomach while working out, but I had energy for the whole class. Yay! :drinker:
