You certainly could start out with the ones you have and then add to them. P90X is so individualized that the need could be different for each person. You really have several options.... I think if you add 10lb, 15lb, 20lb & 25lb that these would be plenty for quite a while. Often you can find them used. Or if you want to…

The best time of day to work out is whatever time of day that you will be able to stick with it. That could be different for everyone. I don't think you'll benefit more from one time of day or another. Figure out your BMR...then add your exercise calories to that...you need to fuel your body and with exercise you are…

are you adding exercise calories to your 1200 base calories? 1200 should be your starting point...then add on the exercise calories. At least doing this will give you a little buffer room for parties :) There are always going to be parties or special events where food is involved. You are wise to learn how to live amongst…

Keep your chin up...you can do this. the hardest step was to get started!!! Its not always easy for anyone, but you will feel motivated and fulfilled when you have pushed through each time you want to give up. What are the reasons you got started on MFP? Keep your goals in front of you for motivation. this is not a…

This is a good question! I convinced myself to dress creatively to hide my tummy pooch and my flabby arms. No real weight problem, but out of shape...I was middle aged, that's just what happens...right? WRONG! My loving hubby told me my arms were a little flabby....that did it! I ordered Ten Minute Trainer the same day and…

I am doing Insanity/P90X hybrid workout now! Insanity is a really good cardio work out -you will feel challenged and when you finish you will feel like you've really accomplished something! Turbo Fire is also a good cardio program..not as intense as Insanity, but a good work out neverthe less. Friend me if you want to or…

I have also done Turbo Fire...it is very good...not as intense as Insanity. Turbo Fire programs range from 15 minutes to 55 minutes. After completing a full program (12 weeks) I used it as a supplement to P90X - on the cardio days. Now I am using Insanity on cardio days. P90X cardio wasn't enough of a challenge for me and…

I am 110 and 5'4" - so a smidge bigger than you...but here are my stats: TF 45 + Stretch 10= 322 cals TF 45 EZ + Stretch = 234 HIIT 25= 162 I thought I had more recorded than this so if I can find them, I'll send them also. Once you put them in, you should be able to edit them too.

I had the same feeling as you, before I took the plunge and started doing P90X...I had heard that the DVD's were really long. In actuality they are less than an hour...except for Yoga..that one is 1.5 hours....but instead of that one I use the "Stretch" video and it is less than an hour. There are some of the videos that…

Have you had your thyroid checked? problems with the thyroid can't be determined without a blood test...but at least you could mark that off the list of things to check. good luck to you

You have taken the first big step - admiting it is a problem and wanting help. you are obviously a very wise person, so I am confident you can conquer this. I have no magic words, but if you would like to message me or add me as a friend, I welcome you to do so. Sometimes all one needs is a listening ear or a shoulder to…

I would suggest using the protein bars with lowest sugar/highest protein...this will help all the way around. I agree with the OP - Jillian Michaels promotes certain brands because she is paid to do so. I also understand buying the protein bars and not making your own...making them is great if you have the time...sometimes…

It combines the strength training of P90X and the cardio of Insanity. the cardio of P90X wasn't enough of a challenge for me...this is. http://www.teambeachbody.com/get-fit/fitness-tools/workout-sheets

I have done Insanity alone - full program and P90X twice - alone full program Now I am doing the P90X / Insanity hybrid and love it!! it really is the best of both worlds!!!!

From Chalene Johnson (and another MFPeep) An amazing article I had to re-post that one of my favorite fitness celebs posted – Chalene Johnson. For me, it was my “ah-ha” and for others that I’ve shared this with, it re-settled their discourage and kept them charging forward with their respective workout program and goals.…

I would love to keep in touch :) Message me anytime :)

Feel free to add me if you wish :) I am 53 and started caring about my health and fitness 3 1/2 years ago. I would say, staying in your calorie limit and EXERCISE is the key. If you do toning exercises along with cardio you will burn more calories because muclse burns more calories. I lost 20 lbs by using Beach Body…

I've tried both. For me bands are easier and the dumb bells are harder - therefore give more of a workout. But you are right they are more expensive. There are other brands of adjustable weights other than Select Tech that in my opinion are better....and cheaper. You might check craigslist for used ones also.

I am so sorry you got this kind of advise from a doctor!!! you can lose weight naturally. It takes discipline and determination and you can do it. MFP is a great place for you!! Since you are starting Insanity I would suggest going the Beach Body section of MFP and finding a Beach Body coach. They are a great resource for…

congrats on sticking with it for 2 months!!! feel free to add me...I log on mon-thur or fri :) I stick with exercise and semi healthy eating every day...just don't usually make it to the computer every day!

I have a fruit smoothie each morning for breakfast....when you add the spinach does it still taste sweet? This would be a great way to get some greens!!

you are very wise to start working on a healthy lifestyle at a young age :) Feel free to add me as a friend or message me. We all need motivation and support!!

If you got the 1600 calories from MFP as your BMR, then you would add on your exercise calories. The easiest way I have found to do it is go by what MFP says my bmr is and then add my exercise calories...they figure it all for you - activity level, calorie deficit, etc . hope this helps
-
I have done all 3 of these and love each one of them for different reasons...so it depends on what you want. I have done p90X 3 times now and there is no way you would call me bulky muscular! I am much much more toned than I was before - but not at all bulky! Insanity is named appropriately as you well know - it is for the…

I have done P90X 3 times so far and my husband with bad knees has done it once....he just had to make adjustments to the program. I would really suggest going to the beachbody website and asking which program would be best.

I would either work into your calorie allowance for the day OR answer the question...."Will I ever regret saying NO to this cookie?" What is it doing to fuel your body? A cookie every now and then is okay...can you stop with one cookie or will it send you into a tail spin of eating badly? We are all different and can…

VERY GOOD advise. Add me as a friend if you would like...I am glad to go through this journey with you. Good luck! WE are all here because we cannot do this alone.. Then good things are You realized you went off track You came back You asked for help... so far it sounds like you are back on the right track and if we never…

hang in there....its has usually taken me about a month when starting a new program to see results....that seems like a long time, but keep it up and you'll see results. Also, make sure you are being honest with your calories eaten and calories burned.
-
I know exactly what you are talking about...I used to also have zero upper body strength!!! I have been doing P90X for about 6 months (on my 3rd round) and now i can do 40 plank push ups, and 9 unassisted pull ups!!! I'm so excited. AND my arms are really getting some definition to them. As the other posters have said,…

I've tried making the brownies with black beans and agree - they come out rubbery - YUCK! I now make them with diet soda (sometimes diet cherry soda sometimes just plain diet) They are FANTASTIC!!! very moist and YUMMy :) Even though I like the idea of black beans and the virtues they add, I'm not going to use them again.…
