Mine's not a heart rate monitor but I use the Bodybugg which I love, however, if I had to purchase it all over again I would have purchased the Bodymedia (I didn't know about it at the time). They track your calories burned for the day, steps taken, etc.

It makes a difference on how hard they are working and the calories they need. Like my husband can eat a huge amount of food, but he burns a ton of calories at work. I probably spend about $32 a month on milk, that's 2 gallons a week and 1 quart? of almond milk a week. But one of the gallons of milk is chocolate because my…

Nice idea...I'll have to keep that in mind :)

I need to know what you buy! But my husband, who is super skinny, eats around 3,500 calories a day. He has a really physical job.

Sounds about right to me...I have a family of five, myself, hubby, 17 year old, 10 year old, and 8 year old and we spend around $175 to $200 a week. I shop the sales, use Aldi's which is a discount store near me and I cannot get the cost down. But I have to buy some specialty items because my daughter is allergic to all…

I can't believe the insurance company didn't pick up any of the cost. That really stinks. So did you have to finance it? I know that my insurance has pretty strict guidelines for covering the surgery, I meet two out of the three but I think the most important one is the complications from it such as rash, etc. and I don't…

I'm in trouble...my stomach is way worse than that. :( My plan is to wait a year, from about now, see what happens with the skin and then go in for a consult. I'm fairly certain that the skin removal on my stomach will be covered by insurance, but the rest of it won't. Edited to add: my top weight was 282 so my bodies been…

These are awesome goals/rewards! I ditto all of it!

I'd like to be at a completely healthy weight, right now my goal is 145 and I'm getting close but I think I'll adjust it to 135 once I hit goal. That will put me in the middle of a healthy BMI at 5'4". I'd also like to work on strength training so my metabolism runs more efficiently and I think it will help stabilize my…

I'm 5'4" and my highest weight was 282 lbs and a 26 pant size U.S. This is a more recent before and after, the before is me at around 230 lbs and the after is around 162 lbs and a size 10. I've dropped a few more since then but this is my most recent picture.

Nice tattoo and congrats on the 50 lost. I have a tattoo on my foot that incorporates my three kids. A flower colored for each of their birthstone colors. It's nice to have tattoos that hold so much meaning. :)

It sounds like it might be iron since you don't eat a lot of meat, but I can tell you when I tried to eat 1300 calories a day I was exhausted. Felt like I couldn't even exercise. So if the iron pills that hopefully you eventually find at the store don't work, consider upping your calories a little bit more, 1500 should…

I eat a little before I workout in the morning or my sugar goes crazy. So typically I have a piece of toast (I use a light version because of the diabetes) with 1 TB peanut butter, after my workout I usually have my protein shake, which is unsweetened almond milk, 1 scoop of body fortress whey protein, and 1 TB of ground…

Hmmm, sounds like Marijuana would be less dangerous than the Victoza I'm on lol. I'm totally in the camp of make it legal. The side effects from smoking marijuana are far less than drinking or other recreational drugs. My only concern is the short term memory. I have relatives that have smoked their entire lives and it…

Thanks :)

I don't think it's posts like this that cause obese people to have low confidence. We do it to ourselves. We beat ourselves up, we feel guilty about our food choices, it's a vicious cycle. There is no one more judgmental than ourselves. Posts like this point out the obvious. It's what's happening all over the world, more…

You've done such an amazing job! Congratulations on your success. And you're advice is perfect. I got mine a few months ago and couldn't live without them. I even take them with me to relatives houses :)

I still have most of my clothes, though I know I need to donate them. It's hard to let nice clothes go because they cost so much darn money! And I totally sympathize with the underwear predicament. The new ones I bought a couple of months ago, yep those are falling below my booty now too :(

Race and sex isn't something that we choose, we're born that way. :) Smoking, drugs, food...these are all choices that people make in their lives. Of course there's lot's of variables, such as being raised in an obese family, and never learning to eat healthy, but at the same time, people that are abused in their childhood…

Great job and totally crazy about the weight! That is a huge fluctuation. I would've been really frustrated too :( Forgot to say, I can totally see a difference :) That's what the great job is aimed at.

^^This^^ As a formerly morbidly obese person, I find that making excuses to over-indulge is what got me into my original predicament to begin with. My health doesn't care if I'm on a cruise. I'm in this to be healthy, not diet. I want to lead by example, not show my children that it's okay to over eat for a week because…

Thanks for this post...gives me some direction on my information search :)

Same here but worse...and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I picked 145 because at my height, 5'4", 145 is the highest for a healthy weight range. My biggest issue is the skin and how much that weighs. At 145, I'll probably be closer to 135 in body composition if I didn't have the skin on my stomach and thighs.

I know exactly what you mean. I kind of miss the anonymous days of being fat, except the whole being fat part, lol. And, FYI, the ring on the finger doesn't stop them :(
-
You're post literally made my day! I love your come backs, wish I could think those up. :)

I completely agree. It's hard to talk about your weight loss with other's because they instantly shut down. They don't want to hear that it's really all about calories in and calories out. They either want to eat everything they've already been eating and lose weight, or they want to believe that you have to starve…

I was diagnosed with diabetes a year ago and for me that was straight up scary. I had already watched my Grandma struggle with the disease, losing feeling in her feet, a toe, her kidney's going bad. I definitely didn't want that for myself. I still struggle every single day. Sometimes I slip up and eat a serving of…

Yep I know exactly what you mean. I was at a relative's house and an Aunt asked someone how much weight they lost. I said, "Who me?" She said, "No, I see your stuff on Facebook all the time". Um, what? I purposefully don't post but maybe once a month on there about weight related topics because I don't want to offend…

Yep I did and I got them...went from 42DDD to 34DD and let me tell you. A 34DD is no where near that DDD size! They look more like C's but that's probably because my max weight was so high I have some skin issues :(
