Really awesome! Congrats on your success!

I got asked the other day if I got sucked into a shrinking machine! Kind of funny.

It is unfair, I completely agree. I was diagnosed at 31, 31! Neither my mom or dad have it, but my grandmother does. It totally sucked at first and I felt like I would starve. But at the same time I didn't know a ton about diet or serving sizes, etc. The thing is, I still cheat at times, or rather figure out ways to…

Eh, no problem. I saw that you edited yours after I posted that :)

I agree that the Diabetes Association probably says this, but according to the Mayo Clinic, A1C's from 5.7 to 6.4 are considered pre-diabetic. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/a1c-test/MY00142/DSECTION=results I've actually read somewhere that people who will never develop type 2 during their life will typically have…

Yes and yes, but usually weight gain that equals being overweight, not within a healthy range. First, with an A1C that low, you are more than likely creeping towards type 2. As far as I know, a type 1 diabetic, who's pancreas has stopped working and is not being treated probably wouldn't have an A1C that low. Diabetes…

If you've lost two pounds in two weeks at 1500 calories that sounds about right. If you're canning I probably wouldn't count the activity, nor would I count regular house work, etc. However, other things, like gardening, I would. One note of caution. Gardening usually burns less than what mfp counts because we're not…

Hi Trindukath, Welcome to the T2 group and mfp :) I love this place!

Hi Amy, The diet does get much, much easier. I was diagnosed a year ago in June, and it was devastating to me. I felt so sick while figuring out meds and diet, plus getting my sugar numbers down to where I needed them to be. Now I can honestly say being diagnosed with diabetes was probably the best thing that's ever…

I'm 5'4" and weigh 158 lbs. When I run I burn around 9.2 calories a minute and I am not a runner. I just started C25K a couple of weeks ago, so running is very difficult for me. My maximum heart rate usually hits around 182 but that's when I'm fatiguing fast and can't make it more than a couple more minutes. I also always…

I have a couple of staple breakfasts. The first is: 2 slices of Aunt Millie's light whole grain bread 70 calories 2 TB Jif Natural peanut butter 190 calories + coffee with fat free 1/2 and 1/2 and sugar free syrup The other: 1 cup unsweetened almond milk 35 calories 1 TB ground flaxseed 45 calories 1 scoop Body Fortress…

I have it on my iPod touch but being a running newbie, it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I needed something like the C25K app, that timed my running out to shorter intervals. But once I get up there in distance/time I'll definitely be using more of it.

....food was my friend. I turned to it when I was happy, sad, depressed, lonely, or any emotion in between. I ate myself to 282lbs and man that was a lot of yummy food. But totally not worth my life.
-
Thank you, that's exactly how I was feeling too. I honestly couldn't believe it and am so frustrated. They talk all the time about the rising obesity rate yet the junk is served everywhere. It's very frustrating.

I've only upped my calories for about a month now, so I'm not an expert by any means, but three weeks is not long enough to 'try' EMTLM. It depends on how long you've been eating at a restricted calorie level, it depends on how vigilant you are about measuring and counting your calories. I just got back into tracking my…

Umm, you only have to eat more if you're eating above maintenance. At 1500 calories a day plus exercising that is highly unlikely. In a day when I'm doing just my normal stuff, no exercising, I burn about 2000 calories and I'm 5'4". If she's eating 1500 calories and burning 300-500 of those off exercising her body is…

I'm 5'4" and weigh 161lbs. I wear a size 10 in most pants, sometimes 12 but they get baggy fast, and medium in t-shirts or a large in dress shirts and tank tops.

I like this idea but one step further to consider. I'm a diabetic, I cannot get 40% or even 35% of my calories from carbohydrates. If I do I would never be off medication and probably wouldn't have my feet either. :( I have a really hard time getting in my calories without going over on carbs. So meal/food ideas for a…

That is really, really awesome!! Mine is at 5.8 for the last 6 months...wish I could get it a bit lower :)

Never mind I cannot get it to work.

I'm going to download this app! I love zombies :)

Felicia Day, Fred and Willow all get my vote!

I'm a personality type that comes across as an extrovert, but I'm not. Very introverted, though I love to meet new people and hear their stories, I just cannot handle it for long. I actually did a personality test and was INFJ. :) I love my home, my garden, my books, and my games. I know when I go to holiday parties and…

I've experimented (somewhat) with it. My fasting BS is usually lower without it, but by day two I'm usually very hungry and that's what I'm worried about. I wonder if I were to slowly go off it if that would help. I even met a person recently that takes it for weight loss! I was really surprised but apparently her doctor…

Congrats, and I completely understand. I'm 17 lbs away from goal weight and I really can't believe it. When I log my weight sometimes I still enter it as 190 something instead of the 160 something that I am, lol. I've been trying to up my calories for a while now to ease myself into maintenance, but since the kids have…

How have you been feeling since you've been off the Victoza for a few days now? I'm curious about this because I'm on it now, but worried that I might be taken off of it at my next check up.

I second the Walking Dead...amazing for zombie nerds!

I need to figure out a way to psych myself into drinking more water too. My doctor said that my heart rate is actually high because I'm constantly dehydrated. When I'm at the office it's usually 120 bpm o.0. That is the one major thing I need to work on and I just can't seem to figure out how to remember to drink water!
