Embrace the tasty treats! Work them into your diet instead of working against them. Ask yourself if you want to never have a seasonal treat again or if you want to enjoy it guilt free. I'm not advocating eating a dozen cookies in one sitting, but having a sweet treat is not the end of the world.

Wow! 1200 is really low. How did you get to that number? Have you checked out any TDEE or BMR calculators? Thos would help you calculate your minimum consumption and your maximum. Usually a safe way to lose weight is TDEE-10-20% (depending on how much you need to lose. Some handy calculators can be found at health-calc.com.

First- how many calories are you allowing yourself?

i'm taking a three herb mix of dong quai, evening primrose & chasteberry, black cohosh, b complex and fish oil. the 4 herbs (the first four of the list) work together to stabilize hormones and are used by some women during menopause. The reason I'm taking all of them is that the ones that reduce androgen/testosterone can…

My doctor was not very helpful with my weight loss concerns- she seemed quite content to just hand out the diagnosis and send me on my way. That said, I have found some decent online forums and am finding success with a blend of herbal supplements. A little back story- Diet and exercise for a year with only a 10 lb weight…

2nd opinion. you know you need to control the weight gain, but not offering any suggestions is pointless.

spaghetti is easy to have. i eat it at least once a week. I measure my noodles carefully, add 90% lean ground beef (well drained) to the sauce and measure all of that carefully. I skip the garlic bread and add a salad. the cheese filled dishes like manicotti and pizza are harder to work in, but for me it's all about…

and look at the recurrence of whooping cough- in the years since parents have been choosing not to vaccinate, it's had huge resurgence. We went from having virtually eradicated the disease to it being front page news! vaccinations are not evil, but just like with anything else there are side effects- some fatal, some not.

If I was young enough, I would get it. So many people think the shot is about preventing an STD- it's really about trying to prevent or diminish the chance of cancer. HPV can also be spread through other intimate contact including oral sex, *kitten* (mutual and single) and frottage. I dated a guy with a couple warts on his…

Hey team four!! Let's get moving!

i had this same question- the strength exercises don't have calories attached, but if you go to the cardio section and type in strength training you can log your minutes (just like everything else) and get a calorie estimate.

i think it depends on where your base level is set. I know for me, I have a sitdown desk job M-F 8 hrs, etc. So when I stand all day or go the store after work or do out of the ordinary cleaning, i might log it. If my job switched to a mostly standing moving around job, I would change my base level and go from there. Base…

I wanted to join, but just saw your post closing it. Is it too late?

Shut up and Parent! Not you- just in general. You don't want your kids exposed to tattoos? You better be curtailing their exposure to tv, books, those little fake tattoo dispensers at the store, etc. The idea that tattoos are bad is so 1900s. LOL But really, look around- I know more people with tattoos than I do without.…

you can do cheese sauce, or ranch or parmesan cheese or garlic butter. Cheese sauce won't hurt, but trying other sauces is always a good idea- even if you hate it, you've tried something different. And try things often. Your taste in food can change over time. low sodium soy sauce is good too.

there is a difference between straight leg and skinny leg- try to look for straight leg jeans, then if you want the skinny look, you could have them taken in. and try not to buy into all the hype- skinny jeans aren't the be all and end all of fashion. good luck!

I'm 5'10, do strength training several times a week and have some solid bones and broad wrists and shoulders. I'm gonna be ecstatic with 180. I think the weights advised by the BMI are slightly ridiculous. I do not want to look gaunt or bony and I fell that anything less than 175 would lead to that.

i have a smartphone, but can't use headphones.

i love the treadmill info. I've been looking for visual cues (instead of audio/verbal) and this might work!

i use SNAP fitness and I love it. It's usually quiet and low key. The only time it's crowded is in cold weather right after work. And even then, the owners just institute a 45min limit on the cardio machines.

If you feel up to it, do it. If you feel like you're pushing too hard, do some stretching, maybe some pilates.

california tortilla is great- but will be high in sodium

Oh my god! My boyfriend of six years suggested we sit down with a jewelry craftsman and select (or design) an engagement ring or wedding set. I am quite literally vibrating where I sit now that this has really sunk in. Thinking a summer wedding in 2012. I would like to be at my goal weight by then- 180- which means losing…
