  • I donated a couple weeks ago. I was starving for about 48 hours and light headed for about 72. Everyone reacts differently - I just plan to take that week off when it's donation time and turn my thoughts to all those my donation will help out.
  • Had cancer and they took half of it out, so now I'm on 100 mcg Synthroid. The first few months while your med levels are stabilizing can be frustrating. Once you get your meds right, it's just like anyone else. I'm down 50# and have kept it off for a while now, no troubles except what my foodhole gets me into.
  • This is awful. I was about to go off, clutching my pearls and all. Then I looked at the date. My how far we've come with information in just a few short years!
  • I'll be the downer here. Lost 50 pounds and have kept it off and still have zero self esteem. It's not a magic fix. It won't repair you if something is broken inside. If anything I'm more awkward and uncomfortable now because people pay attention to me. Sometimes I wish I was still overweight so I could be invisible again.…
  • BUT HOW DO I LOG IT??? Shut up, I'm there with bells on and my own glass.
  • Yeah my birthday is always ignored too. I have to take the path of "appreciate that you have such wonderful people around you that love you and recognize such things." Eat a small bit, log it, and give the person who put the thought and effort into it extra hugs and kisses. I'd absolutely melt into a puddle if my husband…
  • http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2014/03/why-selfies-sometimes-look-weird-to-their-subjects/359567/ Fascinating writeup about mirror vs. selfies. I never thought I'd use "fascinating" and "selfie" in the same sentence ever.
  • Change your strain. Certain strains will give you the munchies, just like certain strains will make you tired. It's the difference between Indica and Sativa. Talk to your pharma (I'm assuming you're a pharmie) and have them suggest a different breed that doesn't have the undesired effects. *ahem* Not that I'd know anything…
  • At 5'4 I hit 175. I went back to my office and ran my numbers and found out I'd hit obese suddenly (not really suddenly but it felt like it). I cried, thought about my cancer diagnosis and my gallbladder problems and my Lupus related issues and my kidney failure and cried some more and felt like the huge frumpy wife with…
  • I just doubled down on my protein shake powder. Two scoops is 100 cal and 15g protein so now I do four scoops in one cup of almond milk. Being vegetarian, it's not as easy as "Eat more meat" and lactose intolerant means no to milk (though yogurt is often tolerable). Play around with it and see what is sustainable for you…
  • Ice Cream Fitness is Jason Blaha's brainchild 5x5 workout. Super effective, similar to Stronglifts but with a sweeter (HASEEWHATIDIDTHERE) name. https://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/jason-blaha-ice-cream-fitness-5x5-novice-workout
  • If you have hypo, you need to get on meds. Not only does it make it hard (NOT IMPOSSIBLE) to lose weight, but there's a host of other health concerns that come with hypothyroidism. So #1, SEE A DOCTOR. Then yes, scale and patience and accuracy. It's not impossible - I had thyroid cancer and had half of it removed. The…
  • Thanks - I'm down 50 now and two pounds away from my official goal. Luckily the "single mom" gig was temporary and my husband and I worked it out in the end, so I stay home and homeschool all three of the kids. I might go back once the little ones are older (they're 6 now), but right now the priority is their education and…
  • I lost my first 30 as a single mom with a full time job, full time college load, and two two-year-old boys. It can be done - I'd hit the gym every night after work and picking the kids up from daycare. They'd play in the gym daycare and I'd put in my time. I'd also memorize math formulas while lifting or read my texts…
  • Yep , crock pot with liners. And! Now! I'm so lazy I line my casserole dishes with heavy duty foil before I use them. Next to no cleanup. I went through nursing school on my own with two kids under two and a full time job. Keep your head up and remember to do something nice for yourself occasionally. Balance in body and…
  • I've lost almost 50 pounds and have settled into a modified 20:4 schedule. When you don't have a large calorie bank to draw from, it helps me to feel sated and full. I'll snack myself into the red if I let myself eat all day.
  • I'm 5'4, 30 years old, and have worked my way down from 176 to 127, size 14 to size 2. I still feel size 14. Someday I hope to wake up and find my brain has caught up with my body. It's a disorienting feeling. :-(
  • I was bullied by my doctor to try mirena after the birth of my second baby. Perfect birth control- I bled non-stop and didn't want anyone anywhere NEAR my vagina. Crazy insane mood swings, hair loss, cramps. Had it removed after a few months and went back on depo with zero issues. But! Birth control does not make you gain…
  • Squat day? I'm not fighting that battle. No unders at all. And you're right, it's like my dirty little secret. LOL! I can't do commando in jeans though. Skirts, slacks, shorts - sure. Jeans in the desert? No friggin' way.
  • I don't think a g can qualify as a wedgie. Lol.
  • I like your thinkin', lady. Lol!
  • I've always had a, uh, gratuitous backside. I gave up the war years ago and switched to g-strings. No muss, no fuss, no circulatory issues. Lol
  • Former and current vegetarian here. I stopped eating meat at 12 and didn't again until my 20's when I got pregnant. Then one day I looked at a cheeseburger, thought "My God, that looks divine" and sat down and demolished it. My youngest is 6 tomorrow and I'm having continued stomach problems that only go away when I remove…
  • Two tablespoons of pure canned pumpkin (not the pumpkin pie mix) usually helps ease things along fairly quickly.
  • Wait, she said she had 813 left to go. Does that mean she's net 100 after exercise? Good god, woman. Eat something. Plug in your stats, go with what it says. Stop starving yourself. Anorexia is a scary, scary beast you don't want to tangle with. It's not sexy when you start losing your hair and your nails break down to the…
  • I switched out pasta for spaghetti squash and haven't looked back. I also haven't tried it with marinara, only alfredo, so I may be eating my words too. At least they're low-cal.
  • C'mon... I'll give you a dollar for a photo! LOL
  • Post-cancer here, had a hemispherectomy a couple years ago and now the other side is shot. Get your meds sorted first, then it's business as usual. Your rate of loss might be a touch slower but all the rules of science still apply once meds are on level.
  • Lol totally normal. My left side is my "hilly" side. Bodies are strange, wonderful things.
