I set my carbs to 45% of my daily caloric intake, and I eat them whenever I want in the day. I love fruits and whole grains!

Yes, I started out at 1200 calories and I was miserable. A low estimate for my maintenance calories (before exercise) is 1650 daily. I'm much happier now because I eat around 1600 calories daily and let any additional calorie deficit come from exercise.

- Old-fashioned oatmeal topped with 2 tbsp chopped walnuts and sweetened with sugar free maple syrup, cinnamon & nutmeg - Kashi go lean cereal with skim milk - Whey protein smoothie and some fresh fruit

I graze throughout the day. It usually works out to be about 6 smaller meals.

5'3", 127 pounds. According to MFP, my BMR is 1272 and my total daily expediture (before exercise) is 1720. I actually think MFP estimates BMR on the low side for most people, but that's another post altogether. I aim to eat at least 1600 calories daily. More if I'm hungry on a workout day. I try to eat pretty close to my…

What is your BMR? You should eat no less than that number. Example: I'm 5'3, 127 lbs. My BMR is around 1350. My total daily expediture is around 1650 by just going about my day to day activities (cleaning up the house, grocery shopping, making dinner, etc). Add a great 1 hour workout (burning 500 calories) and my body has…

At 5'3" and 127 pounds, I was trying to limit my calories to 1250 - 1300 .... and I was miserable! Frustrated, hungry, grumpy, preoccupied with food. I've bumped it up to average 1500 per day (sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on my exercise and appetite that day). I'm a MUCH happier person now.

New clothes and *maybe* a boob job! I haven't decided yet. I'm on the fence between loving my "natural" I-had-two-babies body and wanting to complete the package with a little work.

And that also might explain why a blood workup when I got pregnant with my 2nd child discovered a slight underactive thyroid. I had never had thyroid issues in my life, but had been on a lower carb diet prior to conceiving. Interesting! Thanks!

Weeeeeee! "Guilt free" buttermilk pancakes for my afternoon snack ... here I come!

I'm not too sure yet either. Since I rarely burn more than 625 (my BMR + 1000 - maintenance) through exercise (I'm typically just under that on my most intense bootcamp workout days), I'm implementing advice offered in the Motivation and Support forum to only eat my BMR 6 days a week without eating back exercise calories…

Thank you 4theking! I'm going to try this a see how my body responds. One more question, if you don't mind? Should we focus on macronutrients while eating the added calories? Like keeping fat lower, protein where it is (1g per lbm in my case), and just upping carbs a lot? Or is leptin all about calories and not…

I love this advice! I haven't hit a plateau yet (thankfully). I'm a healthy BMI and just trying to lose the last few vanity pounds (maybe 7 - 12). Do you think eating this way would benefit me also? I'm 5'3" and 127 pounds (my ultimate goal is a really FIT 115-120) ... BMR is around 1250. I typically try to eat around 1300…

^^ This. YUM!! *edited to add that I also love putting about 1/4 of a cup dry Kashi cereal over greek yogurt. Mmmm ...
-
I sometimes eat Oikos w/the fruit on the bottom, topped with about 1/4 cup of Kashi go lean original cereal for breakfast. It's SO GOOD! Something about the combination of sweet & creamy yogurt and the little crunchy bites of cereal is extremely satisfying to me. Thanks for reminding me to add it to my grocery list.

I pre-log all of my meals, either the night before or the morning of. It gives me time to make adjustments as needed. I also find that it helps keep me one track. It takes all of the "thought" out of food/calories when I'm actually hungry (and weak  ).

My ratio is 45% carbs, 30% protein, and 25% fat.

I ate a bagel and cream cheese last night. It put me over my calorie goal by almost 40. I had a TON of anxiety over that glaring red number. Even this morning, I was thinking about that stupid bagel. THEN, I saw your method of setting up MFP goals. I decided to give it a try. After seeing the calorie deficit that I still…

This sounds really interesting! I'm going to try it. I like the idea of seeing my actual deficit for the day. I'm only about 7 - 12 pounds from my ultimate goal and have been confused about how much I should be eating. I think seeing it this way will also help me feel less anxious if I have a random "cheat" day (within…

I just have to say that I agree with everyone else. I looked at your photo's and you have a very pretty face! I also think that more of your features will "pop" as you get closer and closer to your goal weight. But even wthout any weight loss, you are far from ugly!

When I first started running, I didn't focus on speed so much (honestly I still don't). My concern was to build endurance so I could stay moving for longer periods of time (lets say 30 minutes of jogging without needing to walk at all). Alternating walking/jogging is a good way to start! Slowly shorten your walking time…

Love this!

Congratulations! That's a great accomplishment!

What are you eating? I make sure that I'm getting enough nutrition (protein, complex carbs like whole fruits & grains, and good fats). And I watch my iron. I take a woman's one a day vitamin to help reach my recommended daily iron intake if it's lacking on any given day.

29 y/o mommy to two girls! Add me too!! :)

I'm a small framed 5'3" and 128 lbs and working on some vanity weight. I'd like to be between 115 & 120 lbs. I'm a stay-at-home-mom, so I listed my daily activity level as sedetary. I do the housework, take care of the kids, walk my older daughter to and from school 5 days per week, etc. I don't think I burn too many…

You can add me also. :)

I love Celestial Seasonings tea! I drink a cup every night for "dessert" and after reading this thread, I rushed out to purchase all of the holiday flavors LOL. I'm excited to try to sugar cookie sleigh ride tonight! :drinker:

Love this idea! I just added myself.

Mine is open to friends, add me. :) I'm not always perfect but I try to make good choices most of the time! That's the point, right?
