  • I've been getting them for way too long (like a year and a half?). Love them. My surprise treats make me happy :)
  • We don't always agree but we definitely agree on this. I wish I was a person who maintained a healthy weight effortlessly. But the truth is, I'm not. I don't know why I'm different than others. It's not fair, but it's a fact. Counting calories takes 10-15 minutes a day. Can I devote 10-15 minutes of my day to stay at a…
  • This is my exact experience - 2 years maintaining a 130 pound loss.
  • It's not essential at all, but it's fun and challenging to mix up your workout routine like this. You might learn new exercises that will be valuable later, and make new friends who will continue to support and motivate you. If you have money to spend on it, do it. If you'd rather spend the money on something else, that's…
  • Awesome! Nice work pushing through. It WILL get better eventually :)
  • If it were the zombie apocalypse and they were all I had, I'm sure I'd happily eat them.
  • Depression sucks. I'm sorry you're coping with it. I recognize that I had an easier battle than others, and I wish you the best of luck. Congrats on what you've done so far - 370 to 255 is major!
  • I joined MFP in June of 2011, weighing more than 300 pounds. I committed that day to a healthier life. A healthy life, to me, does not mean logging my food every day. Instead, it means having goals, eating well most of the time, and indulging on occasion. I have logged in every single day since I joined. I most definitely…
  • Love it. I've worn it every day since I got it without fail. I adore the damn little thing. I have the One, which I prefer because I can clip it to my bra or waist or pocket and I don't have to wear it visibly. (downside is that it's easier to lose). customer service is fantastic. I had the Ultra, the One's predecessor,…
  • Yep, this is how it is when you start to run. I could easily do an hour on the elliptical but 2 minutes of running made me feel like I was dying. Couch to 5k really helped. I got to about week 7, then just started running without the program. One day I did a mile, then a few days later 1.5, and I remember the day I ran for…
  • My highest weight was 322. Starting MFP weight was 308.5. My goal weight was 175, and I maintain between 173 and 178. That's not quite half, but pretty darn close. I've now been maintaining for two years. Pics and info here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1454303/2-years-of-maintenance-130-pounds-lost/p1
  • I love that blog, and also this one: http://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/
  • I MUCH prefer working out alone - the exception is that I do actually like group exercise classes, but if I'm lifting or running, I really like to go solo. Others are distracting, actually.
  • 1) Set a reasonable goal. 2) Log everything. 3) Learn to cook if you don't already know how.
  • I've been maintaining a 130+ pound weight loss for two years. What are some tips you could share that have helped you achieve your goal and more importantly, what have you done to maintain your goal weight? The most important advice is to persevere. This is what matters the most; the rest is details. That means that you…
  • I'm not good at being concise. Thanks for reading it all. And thanks, everyone, for your wonderful support.
  • I had a personal trainer every other week while I was losing weight (I lost more than 130 pounds). I loved it - excellent accountability, he designed a strength training program for me that I repeated on my own between sessions, and he really helped me learn how to lift weights and design programs on my own. Generally, he…
  • Well, first of all, I'd question what the "correct" fat intake is. If you're using MFP default values, your fat goal is probably pretty low. For me, my fat and protein goals are minimums. As long as I hit those, I fill the rest of my calories with carbs and/or more fat/protein. To answer your question, though, you can…
  • I'm boosting this because I just got my electric pressure cooker and love it! (Instant Pot Duo60 7-in-1). So far I've made: chicken and dumplings roasted beet risotto chicken and rajma masala macaroni and cheese with broccoli easy mexican chicken (sauteed onion and jalapeno, frozen boneless skinless chicken thighs,…
  • string cheese, babybel cheese, pre-portioned nuts, apples/oranges/bananas.
  • The very advice I came into this thread to give.
  • Ha, yep! My maintenance is about 2,600 calories a day. I stick to a weekly goal, though, so I eat more on weekends than weekdays. I lost 2 pounds a week steadily eating 1700-2100 a day (it always ranged a bit).
  • This advice finally worked for me! Just disconnecting through MFP didn't do the trick. Thanks so much.
  • I've lost 130 pounds. I did it by tracking calories and focusing on fitness and activity. I have been maintaining for 2 years. And this is what helped me to do it: - A healthy body with no physical limitations or illness, no metabolic concerns. - Money to join a gym and buy some sessions with a trainer. - I don't even…
  • Sigh. This is exactly what I mean by "don't let perfect be the enemy of good." If you can't be perfect, throw in the towel? The "you must weigh everything or you will fail!" dogma is tired and encourages the attitude that one must be perfect to succeed. As for me? Far from perfect, but I still succeeded. That's why my…
  • Yes! Search for the database entry without the asterisk - though this only shows on the desktop version. The easiest way to find the "clean" entries is by searching for the food item plus raw. So: bananas raw avocados raw red peppers raw chicken breast raw This also works if you're measuring a cooked version, though that's…
  • It turns out that not everyone thinks, behaves, or reacts just like you. It also turns out that all nutrition information - from labels on packages to USDA data - is merely an estimate. So while you may think you are 100% accurately logging because you use a scale for everything, it's still not precise unless you are…
  • Huge thank you to everyone for your comments - I appreciate them all!
  • I'd edit this to, "Weigh everything that you eat, when it is convenient with your lifestyle to do so. When it is not, put in your best guess. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good." Just my philosophy though. I use my food scale a lot, but sometimes I cannot or simply won't. I am not, for instance, going to weigh an egg.…
