I just sent you a friend invite! I too am 57. I am not on the losing end, tho. I have been on maintenance for 3+ years after having lost 82#. I come here everyday for motivation and support just as everyone else does. This is a lifelong journey for us with all the hills (sometimes mountains) and valleys. We all continually…

I'm 56 with some arthritis issues. I have come to really enjoy the Leslie Sansone Walking routines. They are fun and you use muscles you normally don't. Currently I'm doing her Walk Slim 4 MIles and in this one you do 4 segments with one using a band for strength training. It's great! I can't use weights much, so this one…

I agree with the replies here. I don't believe in going below 1200 calories a day. The calories and nutrients you need are based on your weight and activity level. You do need to eat more if you are very active, but I don't eat back ALL of my exercise calories. We need a deficit in order to lose weight. You do need to…

First off I want to congratulate you on your success! That took alot of determination and dedication. People are people. They don't understand where you've been because they, obviously, haven't walked that road. You made alot of good points in your posts, just try not to let it get you down. You've done great on your…

I was never a coffee drinker, but was a major sodaholic (diet, tho). I tried doing just water and then water with lemon. I didn't stick to that. Then I found the Crystal Light Green Teas I love the Metabolism +, Green Tea Peach Mango and the Green Tea raspberry. I drink down a 32 oz. sport bottle in the morning and try for…

I met goal while on the Slim-Fast Optima Plan. Then they changed plans to one that I and many others weren't happy with. One gal from a form I was on back there let me know about this site and I have been here ever since! It's been great for me being on maintenance and also great for my pals from the old site and new pals…

You look absolutely WONDERFUL!!!

Twisty has a good point. The older we get the harder it is to lose weight for so many of us, but it can be done with determination and support. There are a very good bunch of people here who will help you, through daily support and fantastic encouragement! I did it and know it is do-able. I'm 56 years old and was…

I love roasted root vegetables, baked with Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb seasoning then sprinkled with a little parmesan cheese just before eating..Mmmmmmm.

Lots of good comments here. I have to say MacMadame's hit home for me. We winter in AZ , so don't see people from home for 4-5 months. I didn't tell anyone I was changing my lifestyle. When we returned home I got both good and bad comments. Some people did comment "did you lose it intentionally?" Some said nothing, but…

Christine, I agree with barbiecat's advice.

Good advice! I am a former Slim-Faster and when it came time to start maintenance I was told to gradually increase my calories until I was no longer losing weight. Everyone is different in how our metabolisms work, how much exercise we get and how and what we eat. I was told that to maintain I needed 500 more calories a…

When I started on my journey to better health in Jan. of '08 I took a picture from the Christmas before, standing next to my skinny sister and put it up on my fridge as a motivator. Over two years later and 80# lighter, I still have that picture there to remind me of how far I've come and know I'm never going back! Best…

I always have Jello sugar free pudding cups in the house. I like to crush up one square of low fat graham cracker or Nabisko low fat Nilla Wafers and put them in a bowl and top with pudding and 1 Tbsp. Cool Whip Free. Sometimes I've even added a few sprinkles of crushed pecans on top.

I subscribe to their newsletter. It's pretty good. I also get Taste of Home's newsletter and go to the "healthy" recipes. They have a section that does makeovers to make submitted recipes a bit more healthy and I have found that I can go from there and tweek it to make it even more healthy, same with eatbetteramerica.

I too, make myself go, telling myself that I will be glad later that I went...and I always am. If I don't get my walks in I feel crumby and don't do as well come weigh day. I enjoy talking with other people at the gym, too, so that helps alot. One older gentleman (in his 80's) comes in and talks to me, sometimes, almost…
