I wonder if it's the time of year. I have many more projects on the go, but no more excuses. Gotta stay on track.
-
Holy cow, I don't think I'm quite ready for those yet.

Don't feel bad, I think it's pretty confusing. After studying the book for a couple of days and reading the posted thread it finally came together in my mind too. Good luck, take it at your own pace and enjoy.

I think Dr. Horrible has been using his shrinking rays on you.... oh wait that was your hard work! Sorry about your rejection by the league of evil fellows. Maybe you need to network more.

Chrystalah I just did B last night for the first time (doing it at home also) and substituted the pullover on page 201. IThe book said it works the muscles in a slightly different way but could be used as an alternate.

Congrats on the lower pants size cphaneuf. I agree about form being so important. I've only done A and B once so far, but have done Chalean Extreme previously where emphasis is placed on form and slow reps.

Waving hi. I'm Kim, 55 years old, mom to a 19 yo DD and a medical technologist. I used to weight train in my twenties and early thirties and was in the best shape of my life. Looking forward to seeing muscle definition again. I got my book a few days ago and after reading it over a few times and getting tips from this…

I know that what you need to lose seems insurmountable but those little losses add up. Even just a pound a week will have you around goal this time next year. If you don't work on losing weight, then in a year you'll be right where you are now. Good luck, we all have those downer days.

I'm not doing HRT either, too many negative side effects from it so I just suffer the hot flashes. You can lose weight, just more slowly. Read In Place of a Road Map to help figure out you calorie goal and go from there. You may have to tweak to find your magic number. I started at 1350 and was losing so decided to bump it…

I'm 55 and on the way to losing 20 lbs also. I'm on here every day if you want to add me.

I'm 55 also and would be happy to friend any of you. I've been on MFP daily since last September. As far as the exercising at home question I like Chalean Extreme. It can be tailored to your fitness level and you will find that you can advance quite quickly.

Hooray! It sounds like in a way your cancer saved your life. Congratulations on the victory.

What a biotch. It took me a full week to not hurt anymore and I couldn't take Tylenol 3 because it makes me sick. Glad you're on the mend.

Do you belong to a gym? I think it might be a good investment to join one and also make use of a personal trainer every couple of weeks to set you up with a routine and keep you on track. Because to join the military you not only need to lose the weight but also need to be in good physical condition. I wish you luck and…

Is that your BMR or TDEE? One thought is to eat TDEE - 15% which is what I do.
-
I'm in the Mokey boat on this one. Although whenever possible I try to eat healthy.

I think there's something to what you're saying, but like anything weight related it varies person to person. My DH has always been thin and he regards food as fuel. There are some things he enjoys, but he basically eats to survive. I love the taste of food, cooking food and the look of a nice meal. I don't think it's…

Have you been eating more raw vegetables? Raw carrots and broccoli can really bother me. It may also be from a sudden increase in fiber, so you might want to gradually add veggies and fruits.
-
It doesn't really bother me in things like choosing food or a meal. I definitely get analysis paralysis in bigger projects like painting a room or deciding how to landscape my yard. So rather than make a decision it just doesn't get done. But when it comes time for me to decide what to eat I go by what I want at that point…

I think you need to find the right balance for yourself. You shouldn't have to feel like you're on a diet, but there's always room for healthy food also. And I definitely haven't given up on chocolate. Great going!
-
How about bicycling? I have plantar's fasciitis and morton's neuroma in my feet and since getting orthotics it's gotten a lot better. But if I do an intense workout it hurts like a mother the next day. Biking seems to not bother me and strength training I can do, although lunges can sometimes cause pain.

If it's been a couple of weeks a pregnancy test will pick it up.

It's great that you're getting ahead of the game. It definitely helps to have that stamina to chase kids around, plus you and your wife will be a great support to each other. Welcome aboard!

As was said no two people are the same. DH and I had ours out 10 and 11 years ago. He was back at work the next day although he wasn't supposed to be. I was in quite a bit of pain for a week, but I also had a hernia repair. He still has problems eating anything greasy or chocolate and I have no problems eating anything.

Crap, I start night shift in March.

Do baby soy beans only drink soy milk?

I'm 55 and have been doing MFP about 5 months. I log in every day so if you need a friend and motivator send a request.

I would change my activity level. I work in the health field and walk 6 miles a day and don't count it. If I ate a thousand extra calories a day I would gain like crazy.
-
Even if you were 250 over that shouldn't translate into a weight gain unless you do it consistently. You could break the extra up through the week , try to make up a hundred calories of it or get some extra exercise in. Or you could just forget it and move on.

Those kind of days are tough because I catch myself doing a lot of snacking and wracking up a lot of calories. I've found it's better to just give in and have a nice filling meal. Overall it comes out to fewer calories than snacking all day long.
