  • I love the Fitbit one. I wear it on my bra during the day, and I slip it to my pajama pants at night because I use the silent alarm during the workweek. I find it to be very accurate in recording walking, running, and eliptical steps. When I bike--rarely--clipping it to my shoelace was effective for recording. From talking…
  • I just got back on the bandwagon after gaining about 9 pounds in 2 months, and as soon as I backed away from the sweets, salty foods, and soda, I saw a several pound drop. Of course, it will probably take 6 months to get rid of the other 1/2 of the weight, but just eating healthier should give you a boost back to your…
  • I use a 20 oz Rubbermaid water bottle. It has a nice snap lid that doesn't leak, if I accidentally knock it over. I fill it first thing in the morning because I like to drink water during and after my coffee. Usually I refill it once or twice during the workday depending on how thirsty I am. I refill it again when I get…
  • I've been wearing the Fitbit One for several years. I have found it to be very accurate for counting my walking, running, and elliptical steps, and it does sync with MFP. I don't think it is waterproof, but it has survived the washer a few times. I wear it clipped to the front of my bra most of the time, and my one…
  • Mine was never gone completely, but I had long cycles--38 to 60 days--before I had my three children. I only conceived after gaining about 10 pounds even though my weight was already within the normal range for my height.
  • I also have s family of five, and I try to cook a main dish that everyone will eat, but there are always sides that not everyone eats. I'm the only person in the house who eats mushrooms, but I make a package at least once or twice a week for myself which I then eat leftover. My son is very picky and eats a limited amount…
  • The problem sounds 2-fold to me. When I work out; I am hungrier for sure. When I used to go to the gym in the evenings after work, I would come home and immediately have frozen fruit topped with Greek yogurt and nuts and maybe even a glass of chocolate milk. I would feel like I was starving, and I know it was from the…
  • I don't worry about going over on protein. The nutrition information is most useful for me to gauge how I feel and make adjustments based on that. For example, once in the past when I was logging, even though I had been eating healthy foods I was feeling lethargic. Looking at my diary, I saw my carb level was lower than…
  • The days I eat a lot of sodium are when I eat out for at least one meal or eat prepared food rather than homemade--frozen, sauces, flour tortilla, crackers, etc.
  • The key to my household eating well is for me to plan meals for the week and shop for them. I use the crockpot frequently for roasts or soup. All I have to do when I get home is quickly cook rice, pasta, or potatoes along with canned beans and a frozen veggie or two. Sometimes I add a bagged salad.
  • I had the same problem last night with a soup recipe. I put it as 8 servings, and I've been eating about a cup each. I'm just going to have to wait and see how many times I get to eat it to see if I made the right choice. I'll tweak it afterwards. The other option would have been to measure it all out. I'm not that…
  • We have a wii, and I used it a good bit when we first got it, but it wasn't as much of a workout as I get with my elliptical, hand weights/kettle bell, and YouTube fitness videos. It depends on which you think would engage you more and when you would use it.
  • I definitely need to take a step back from added sugar. In the past I've found giving up added sugar totally for a month seems to reset my cravings to stop overindulgence.
  • Think about whether 2 pounds a week is reasonable for you with only 15 pounds to lose. I've never lost more than an average of 1/2-1 pound a week even when I was taking off the extra 50 pounds I gained with my first pregnancy--extra as in what was left after the birth. You may need to experiment to find your sweet spot for…
  • I had this problem yesterday, and when I went online I finally determined that it was fitbit.com that was the problem. For some reason, my steps were in the app on my phone, but they had not uploaded to the online dashboard. Finally it synced, but it was frustrating to not know how many calories I had in the meantime.
  • I think you have to experiment a bit. Even though a lot of people say 1200 is manageable for them, for me I can lose eating 1400 or more, and I'm almost 20 years older than you. Have you set MFP to lose 1/2 a pound a week? If so, what calories does it recommend? I'd aim for that eating back some exercise calories.
  • I wear a fitbit one on my waist, and it does register with close the same distance as the elliptical indicates. How many steps I get depends on how fast I am going on the elliptical. I try to use the elliptical mornings that I will have a sedentary day, so I know I won't hit 10,000 otherwise. Or I use it evenings when I…
  • Whenever I've put on extra pounds, it wasn't eating bananas sliced in plain yogurt and drinking orange juice.
  • You're probably going to need to add in more low calorie foods in order to avoid feeling hungry--e.g. more fresh veggies. That was what helped me keep within calories when I first tried to count.
  • I'm a big proponent of the second breakfast. I'm full when I finish breakfast, but I'm usually on the prowl for more food within a couple of hours.
  • I think people who aren't tracking calories are going to eat however much they want without a single thought to serving size. That's what I did in my twenties when I could eat whatever I wanted and weigh 110 pounds. I know when my son is scooping ice cream, he's not giving a single thought to to the fact that a serving is…
  • I've been using the fitbit one for over a year. For the most part, I clip it on my bra, and I don't even know it's there. I have had to replace the clip twice because I wear it all the time, and the little plastic cover on the end of the clip eventually comes off and clipping it is hard with the metal exposed. I don't…

  • I wear a fitbit one, and it syncs with MFP. I have to put it on my shoe for it to log cycling, but for walking, running, and on my elliptical it is very accurate. I've been wearing it over a year, and if I forget to put it on or the battery dies, I feel inexplicably like I haven't gotten any exercise. :)
  • I think it's important to start with a good filling breakfast--egg on toast, fruit & Greek yogurt or oatmeal with fruit & nuts with a dollop of greek yogurt always with coffee with some sort of creamer like 2% milk. I try to do veggies--carrots or celery, fruits, and nuts for snacks. Usually whatever I make for dinner, I…
  • Cool yet freaky. I'm already a little offended every time I have walnuts on my oatmeal, and it tells me, "This food contains 30 grams of saturated fat. Your goal for today is 42 grams." It almost caused me to eat almonds instead this morning--almost. I've been using the nutritional information to help me choose snacks…
  • I think it depends on the weight of the inhabitant(s) and the terrain you're covering. When I used to push my oldest 2 children in our hilly neighborhood, I know I was expending a lot more effort than just strolling around myself. They weighed about 80 pounds together, and on more than one occasion, I had to ask my then 4…
  • I've been using my fitbit one since January 2013, and I love it. It motivates me to take a little walk at the end of the day hen I haven't met my step goal.
  • I'm 5'5", and maintaining, but whenever I've needed to lose weight in the past, it takes a long time. Tops I'd lose is 2 pounds a month. My favorite thing I've found is the fitbit. I wear it and aim for 10,000 steps a day. If I hit that goal, then I don't feel like I HAVE to work out, if I don't feel like it. It s a great…
  • I always check out the juniors sections of stores, too. The prices are cheaper, and I find the pants fit me better as long as the waist isn't too low. I find it very difficult to find my size pants on sale in department stores. As for Old Navy, I have work pants from there that I've been wearing for over 7 years. Yes, some…
  • I bought mine at Trader Joes. I can't remember which aisle. I add a tablespoon to my oatmeal, and they do give it a bit of a crunch.
