1. No world poverty or wars 2. Immortal 3. Happy. What?

I've got a long way to go before my goal. But I think it is going to be important that even if I reach my goal, I will need to keep logging to ensure that I do not slip into bad habits and ensure that I can maintain my weight for a significant period of time. I notice that some of my inspirational friends (who have reached…

What excellent progress. An inspiration to everyone, Imagine how awesome you will be when you finish!

Basmati rice has low GI index, even lower than brown rice apparently. It tastes great too.

Well, thats a healthy thought actually. Its great you want to run rather than eat! Way to go!

Balsamic vinegar and a few olives can transform a bland salad. I find cherry tomatoes adds some sweetness. Of course nothing beats fresh (organically grown) ingredients!

Its easy to overeat particularly when you confront that cocktail of your favorite foods and an emotional experience (bad day in the office or at home or with the kids whatever). My weakness is pizza. A week or so ago I binged 1800 cals on 8 slices in one go. I felt helpless but realize now that such times are blips on your…

I think for me it's emotional binge eating. If I stress out I turn to high fat food. Or if I'm with great company, i lose track and eat up, In the past one bad day often derailed me. However now that I track through MFP, have learned to not let one bad day (or even a week) get to me. There was one day where I binged on 8…

Lol my better half did not like it when I brought our treadmill into the living room for the same reason! There really isn't a way to hide it, it is going to be an eyesore. Folding it up doesn't make it disappear and you aren't going to use it as often if you do. However having the treadmill in the living room does have…

Breaking up your long term goal into short term ones is a great idea. I'm sure there are some CEOs who could learn from you!

Hmmm interesting thread fatty! I too changed my pic to a "pig" (a cute guinea one) after I pigged out one day. I recently indulged in almost 2000 calories in one meal (pizza and wine) and put on 1kg overnight. Maybe not as big a gain as you but I am still at an early stage in my weight loss journey and it's taken me almost…

You know there are so called fruitarians out there. I am not an expert but agree wholeheartedly to the idea of eating whole foods. But don't forget the other food categories also include nutritious wholesome foods including meat, eggs, seeds, nuts, beans, milk, etc.

Hi. I'm an Aussie too. You will find other great Aussies to make friends with. But you will also find great friends all over the world too. I have a similar weight goal to you. I've only lost 5kg so far but can see plenty of other arguably more important improvements including more energy, more optimistic outlook and more…

Walking is great. Download a pedometer app on your iPhone or smartphone and start walking! Build up your time and speed gradually. If you save some money and have the space I highly recommend a treadmill for those rainy days. If not, an exercise DVD like others have mentioned sounds great. Anything is better than nothing!…

Ok.. 30 days now. Average 1kg pw loss. I've briefly posted on this thread before but wanted to be a bit more positive. In 30 days I have learnt; 1. Starting the day with oatmeal or a wholemeal sandwich keeps you regular and hunger at bay. 2. Ending your day with a herbal tea (I like lemon green tea) is a great way to end…

Its a real irony that sometimes it takes a tragedy to motivate people to achieve great things in life. Your mum would be proud. Your kids will be proud when they are old enough to understand what you have achieved for them (as well as yourself). You are certainly an inspiration to all of us who have read your post. God…

I was the same as you, only it was worse... Biscuits, chocolates. Chips. Anything I could lay my hands on. I now try to end my day with a herbal tea. It's quite chilly where I am (Sydney, Australia) at the moment and it's amazing how comforting it is as a pre bed "snack". Don't know if it will work for summer...

I have learnt that it's easy to pig out and blow out on calories when you have friends over.

Hey me too! I hated oatmeal as a kid but have acquired a taste for it in middle age! Just when I started switching to a healthier diet too. Goodness super foods does great barley and oats and it's very healthy too. It only takes 4 minutes to boil! I initially had my oats with a tsp of honey but have tried to wean myself…

Wow! I wonder if you are going to get an influx of blokes sending u invites lol
-
Lol That probably helped! I was at my thinnest when I worked for a snack food company! How does that work?! Having said all of that well done!
-
Awesome advice. I guess useful for blokes and gals alike. It's amazing how many of my fit friends can have those chocolate shakes and even chocolate bars with apparent immunity. I think your post holds the key! (that's not to say I am ready to start guzzling choc shakes though lol - I have to learn to run before I can walk.

Thanks all. Coincidentally I had spinach today (1.3 cups) with a steak for lunch and am over 400percent on vitamin A yet still only 45percent of my daily iron!

I'm only a beginner but if you are unfit (like me) I would advocate moderate to brisk walking for the first month or two. This let's your body get used to the idea of moving and your joints will thank you (particularly if you are quite heavy). I am planning on introducing interval training (mixed running) as I get fitter.…

I am only a beginner but I would look at the analysis of nutrients and see what foods target those nutrients you are lacking. Eg if you need more protein eat more meat. If more calcium eat more dairy or drink more milk.
