Anyone used their food diary or activity tracker as evidence?
Interesting article found this morning. http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/digital-life-news/fitness-tracking-data-in-courts--persuasive-but-not-conclusive-20141124-11t3my.html Have any of you sought to rely upon your food diary or activity tracker in a court of law?

My new HRM - Polar FT80
8 months ago, I was a real couch potato. Over 40 and unfit. 7 months ago I started logging food through mfp and making small incremental changes to my diet. 6 months ago I started exercise (walking) and have now progressed to power walking/jogging regularly and strength training once to twice per week as well as playing…

Attention long term my fitness pal users
I've been on my fitness pal since June 2011. But let me get a few things out in the air: Firstly, mfp reports that I have only been continuously logging for 95 odd days. Which is kinda true. I stopped logging in December when I went overseas for a few weeks. I have stopped logging for brief periods of time before. But yes…

Is this a new era for High protein foods
I don't know if its because I am living a healthier lifestyle. I don't know if its because I am increasingly talking to bodybuilders and have taken strength training a little more seriously. BUT... is anybody else noticing the proliferation of protein bars, supplements and other products? I'm even noticing protein bars at…

How did you keep your focus after a sports injury?
The biggest initial hurdle many (if not most) of us face when confronted with the need to lose a significant amount of weight is our MINDSET. First of all we need to convince ourselves that we need to lose weight. Then we need to stop all those lacklustre excuses that prevent us from eating healthier and exercising (eg "I…

Tips for damage control between Christmas and New Years Day
I have been on mfp 185 days now and have lost an average of 2 kgs a month since I started. Except for December that is. Although I am fitter now more than ever, a few too many Christmas parties (and birthday parties) mean that I have been treading water weight wise. I have actually gained (a little) this month, however all…

Mid Goal Slump - what do I do?
Hi all. I have been on this weight loss journey for almost six months now, the vast majority of it through mfp. I have learned a lot, the most important lessons being: thinking of this as a healthier lifestyle not a diet: eating healthier, doing regular exercise (cardio and strength) and ... (drumroll) having a lot of…

Big men: how do you stay under target?
I have been on this weight loss journey through mfp for over 140 days now and have lost between 11 and 12kg so far. I set my goal as a 1.5 pound a week loss but have NOT reduced my calories as I have lost weight. Therefore I am effectively now on a 1 pound a week loss. My theory is that slow and steady is working for me.…

Eggs the ultimate superfood?
No I'm not a professional nutritionist (though pehaps I have been a professional eater). However it dawned on me how many successful Mfp friends have eggs / egg whites in their diet and how eggs seem to be the staple of many athletes and bodybuilders. I probably don't eat enough eggs myself but I found myself very hungry…

What do you do about knee discomfort?
I've been diligently logging on mfp now for over four months and have noticed lots of improvements. Weight loss, certainly, but the biggest improvement is energy. The fact that I have incorporated daily exercise definitely helps. I started off slowly walking on the treadmill (having previously been very sedentary) and have…

Slowly reverting back to more junk
Hi all, I've been doing pretty well the last 9 or so weeks since starting on Mfp. At first I made small changes and knowing this is about lifestyle changes rather than crash dieting I have switched to healthy eating as much as I can. So I have now reached the point where I usually start with a healthy oatmeal breakfast…

How do you avoid pigging out when friends are over?
I have now beeen logging my foods for 25 days though mfp and have managed to lose 3 kgs whilst learning quite a bit about my diet. By and large I have developed some good discipline and habits too. But yesterday I had unexpected friends come over for dinner and the quickest available option was to get pizza. Then I…

How can I reduce sugar and get more potassium and iron?
I'm a relative newbie, have lost 2kg in a few weeks. I have regularly checked 'nutrients' and seem to be able to get the right amounts of vitamin A, C etc whilst on around 1600 to 1800 calories a day (on days when I am below goal). I can keep fat and salt low, carbs and fats moderate and protein at a reasonable level. I…

Middle aged bloke starts counting
Hi all. I have hit middle age (ok perhaps a few years in) and have seen the kilos pile on over the last decade. I've tried everything: high protein diets (aka Atkins) seemed to work for a while but the food got boring and it was potentially dangerous. I bought exercise equipment (treadmill) but motivation is an issue. I…
