I don't know if its because I am living a healthier lifestyle. I don't know if its because I am increasingly talking to bodybuilders and have taken strength training a little more seriously. BUT... is anybody else noticing the proliferation of protein bars, supplements and other products?

I'm even noticing protein bars at the front counter of service station (previously reserved for more traditional confectionary).

Today I read that they are now thinking of extracting meat proteins to add into ice cream. Yes - ice cream.

The article link is below.

Are we all going a little too far with this high protein thing? What do you think?

I think it's a combination of you becoming more aware, and the advances in food manufacturing that you mentioned.

Supplements have been around for longer than you or me, but with the globalisation/marketing available with the internet and large hypermarkets such as Tesco or Wall-Mart/Asda, specialist stores are becoming less of a necessity and more and more people are being exposed to products that used to be difficult to get hold of.
