  • I did go have my thyroid checked last summer, as both my parents have/had hypothyroidism. I went to see an Endocrinologist, because I had heard that they run more in-depth blood panels than my GP. They both had/have type II diabetes as well. But no, not even close to being pre-diabetic, or no thyroid issues. My A1-C (my…
  • Be mindful that your 700 calorie burn for 45 minutes of elliptical is highly inflated...I know this from personal experience. Its is incredibly difficult to sustain a level of effort for any lengthy period of time as to burn much more than about 10 calories per minute...you may burn slightly more if you are heavier but not…
  • I thought that was a little high. That's the number I get here, on MFP from inputing 45 minutes on the elliptical.
  • I definitely cook. My husband is a type 1 diabetic (since he was 8) and we have 2 kids, so I definitely want everyone to eat healthy. I do indeed weigh and measure everything I eat. I use a portion plate thingy - not sure what it called - or I just use my kitchen scale or measuring cups. I try to limit my carbs in general.…
  • I only wash my hair every other day and use dry shampoo in-between, only on the roots. However, if its a really sweaty day, I will rinse my hair, shampoo just the roots, rinse, and condition my entire head. My hair used to be really dry when I was trying to wash it everyday and was breaking, but after about a year of not…
  • I have Achilles tendonitis in both feet and Plantars facitus in my right foot. It bothered me back in college when I was a little more active, and comes and goes a lot because I am a teacher on my feet everyday. I started working out 30 days ago and its flared up again. I was having extreme pain during exercise, and then…
  • Thanks! I really appreciate your advice! I think I still need a little help understanding why am I continuing to gain a little weight while I am working out, lifting weights, tracking my calories, eating clean food, etc. Being new to exercising - and I truly am - I was never athletic as a kid, but I was active. Once…
  • This made me cry, because I am that fat girl, that never wants to be in the presence of more fit people while I exercise, so I just don't exercise. But maybe now I will, I've always wanted to be a runner, but my "out-of-shapeness" has always prevented me and I've never known where to start. I guess I just need to move....
  • Wow! It's really true though. I am happily married, mommy, but I still enjoy it when a man is completely obvious about checking me out. I've begun to hear the term - MILF - a couple of times when I've been out with my daughter. I like it. Not that I would ever act upon someone approaching me, but it just makes me feel like…
  • This'll sound awful, but I'll explain: "You look JUST like your mother..." I love and miss my mom dearly. But I always thought of her being VERY heavy. She used to keep encouraging me to lose weight and "not end up like her." After I had my daughter, I gained a lot of weight - 50 pounds. I maintained my weight through my…
  • I know I am definitely an hourglass. I tend to have a little waist and my hips and chest are almost the same size. Now that I've had a baby, I know my middle isn't as small as it used to be, but hey, I gotta work on it! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • Wow! Sounds like you've had some bad experiences, but I truly don't think its fair grouping every sub into a smaller group, to include them into your own bad, personal experiences. As someone who started out as a sub, I have been on both sides. Sometimes I think being a sub can be harder. You don't know the kids, you know…
  • I am a Special Education Teacher - Cross-Cat- and currently teach Kindergarten, first, and third grade special ed students. I think it is SUPER hard remaining loyal to your diet as a teacher. There are always snacks in the teacher's room for some gathering, as well as our great PTA always throws us these fabulous lunches.…
  • 1. Practice the guitar more 2. Jay is not a God, in fact he's a jerk to you, break up with him before you leave for college, since you would have spent your entire freshman year not going out with friends because he told you that you're not "allowed." 3. go ahead and date Saner, but don't get engaged. He'll only cheat on…
  • I really know after trying almost every other type of diet out there, that low carb just works for me. I am currenrly following South Beach, which I had done before a few years ago and lost 30 pounds. I just hit my 30 pound loss again today due to low carb eating. I am hoping to lose another 85 pounds and I know I will…
  • Where can you get the Sugar Free peppermint mocha creamers? I totally LOVE the McDonalds Peppermint Mocha - but obviously they aren't low carb. Thanks!!!
  • I always prefer long hair - of course I cut about 8 inches off of mine last August and am kicking myself - but I love the amount of things you can do with longer hair. I think it's easier to care for than short hair. If you're having a frizzy day, put it in a bun, if its short, there's no bun to be had.
  • I am definitely interested. I don't have the Zumba DVDs yet, but was thinking about buying them. Once I get them, can I join in?
