All you need is determination! Good luck!

I was diagnosed when I was 19 (now 33). I haven't been on Synthroid (Levo) in a really long time. I never felt good even when my TSH was in the normal range. I switched to Armour thyroid years ago, then had problems getting that, and now have it compounded for me at a compounding pharmacy. So glad I have a doctor that…

Yep, me. I've had hypothyroidism for most of my adult life. Once I stopped making excuses and starting actively exercising and eating healthier, weight has been dropping. I'm down 42 lbs in 5 months.

Before you think about getting any dog, fence in your yard! I promise it will be the best investment ever. Also, Wisconsin is only a frozen tundra about half the year.

Our insurance rates at work are based on 5 different items/ biometrics. Your discount is based on how many of them you pass. I passed all 5 this year thankfully, and yes, one of them is based on if you are a non-smoker or not. We also have to pass BMI (or waist measurement), Blood Pressure, Cholesterol (HDL/LDL),…

Definitely agree with original post!

One of my friends also mentioned wearing a different type of sock, so I will also try that. I have never had blisters before from running. I don't quite need a new pair of shoes yet, but I do have a local running store, and maybe I will pop in there and ask them what they think also. Thanks for the responses so far!

No incline, but that's interesting. Will have to try that!

I have hypo and was diagnosed when I was 19. I'm 33. Never did well on Synthroid (still always tired), and for the last several years I have been taking natural dessicated thyroid and feel amazing. I have problems with weight up and down, but I can't blame it on my disease. I have poor eating habits! Over the last three…

Definitely wear panty hose, or maybe tights? They are actually coming back into fashion. Kate Middleton wears them all the time!

My Dr has even told me he despises Dr Oz. He's out for fame and certainly doesn't know everything about everything, and so many people take everything he says as absolute fact. Kind of like how Oprah cured her thyroid disease? Except it's not a curable disease.

Update! I am officially in the 140's! Last Monday I was 151.2 and kind of stuck between 152-150 for a couple weeks. So I went from 1200 calories to 1500 calories all of last week (although I was kind of naughty over the weekend, but still made it a point to be active.) I am now 148.4! Will update again after this week to…

Also stuck between 150-152. Today I am going to bump my calories from 1200 to 1500. Will report back next week!

Just make sure that you don't take them with any other medications if you're on any. For example, I have thyroid disease and can't take any supplements containing calcium within 5 hours of my thyroid meds.

Super slow runner (JOGGER) here and am totally ok with it. I can only run a mile in about 12 minutes. Better than sitting on the couch being inactive! I am proud of myself for every step I take during each run. I do run outdoors, so I bet I could run slightly faster on a treadmill, but don't have access to one, so I hit…

I never felt great on Synthroid even when my TSH was in the 'normal' range. I switched to Armour thyroid years ago and have felt great ever since. I did have trouble getting Armour last year, but found a compounding pharmacy that makes the equivalent, and my doctor has been great in working with me.

I am on 30 mg of Citalopram and didn't notice that I put on weight because of being on it. I also have thyroid disease though and have a slow metabolism because of that. But it's my own fault I am chubby, and if I really put my mind to it, I can lose weight if I put in a real effort.

Good advice. I normally wear an 8, but I wear a 9.5 in a running shoe. And I am an overpronator also! Make sure to find that out when you get fitted.

Love my Asics!

Just a note, that there are a few different options as far as medications are concerned. Synthetic (Synthroid) is not your only option.
-
Oh, and I will always have hypothyroidism. Being fat doesn't cause it. It's an autoimmune disease.

I am hypothyroid, and my meds do not cause me to drop weight. Also, I was on Synthroid for years and still never felt better. I've now been on dessicated thyroid for years and feel pretty good. Also, my doctor likes to keep my TSH under 2.0. Any questions, let me know! I was diagnosed when I was 19 and am now 33, so have…
