I agree - get fitted for good running shoes. Also - invest in a couple pairs of really good running socks. Moisture wicking - NOT COTTON! Cotton socks will cause blisters. Check out sockgeek.com - they have good prices and selection plus a lot of information. Good luck!

I used to play, but I stopped when I realized I needed to move around more. I miss it sometimes, but it sucks you in!

I wish! I've lost about 50 lbs and my husband doesn't even seem to notice. Oh well - I feel much better about myself anyway.

This is a great place to start!

I personally didn't like the miracle noodles - my favorite noodle substitute is spaghetti squash. Try it with spaghetti sauce - you'll love it! Take a look at the hungrygirl.com web site - she has a bunch of great foods (mostly processed if you don't mind that)

Every day!! Set a goal for yourself and stick to it. Find a buddy to share it with to keep you on track. There are a lot of good people on this site that can help if you can't find anyone at home.

Welcome back! First off - I know how you feel, I was the same way when I started. I was a yo-yo as long as I can remember. I joined this site about a year ago and all I can say is - this time is different. I have learned through this community how to make little changes to change my life. Through diet and exercise (I have…

This! Don't get discouraged - I haven't lost any weight in 4 months, but I've dropped 2 sizes in that time. Have a plan, stick to it and keep going. It WILL happen. Feel free to add me if you want! Good Luck!

I'm sorry, but if you are changing your lifestyle choices after you finish "dieting" - isn't this a "lifestyle change"? Most people can't go back to what they were doing before and keep the weight off.
-
Hey - I was going to say that! :)

Gary - don't give up the jogging if you love it. I used to get shin splints until one of my runner friends told me how to stretch. Before you go out for a run, point and flex each foot about 30 times to help elongate the muscles. This should really help a lot. Here are some other great pre-run stretches...…

No doubt! According to the BMI, I am overweight. I know I'm not skinny, but I don't think I'm overweight! What about muscle mass?

^ This! You can't think of it as a diet because that makes it "temporary" in your mind. It is a lifestyle change. If you eat the right healthy foods - you won't get hungry and it's very easy to live with. Good luck! Feel free to add me for encouragement if you like.

^This! Love Optimum Nutrition - everything else tastes chalky to me.

I've posted a couple times in this topic already and wanted to give a progress update. When I started (about 3 months ago), I was eating about 1400 calories a day, not eating back my exercise calories and feeling really sluggish all the time. Since I've increased my calories to 1800 a day - I started eating my exercise…
