  • I have gotten hooked on fresh spinach and strawberry salad! I use a whole serving of baby spinach leaves, 1/2 cup sliced strawberries, 2 Tbsp reduced feta cheese, 2 Tbsp soy nuts, and 1 1/2 Tbsp fat free red wine viniagrette dressing. Very yummy and filling! You can change the amounts to what you want for a good mixture…
  • You should eat back at least some of those calories otherwise your body could run-down and you end up feeling tired all the time and hungry as well. I thought the same as you when I first started. After I started eating back some of the calories, my body felt better, my mood felt better, and I had the energy during the day…
  • That's happened to me too. Usually in about a week, there is one day when I am very hungry and can't seem to get full. Those days I usually eat more than usual (most times still staying within the limits - sometimes not). I don't feel guilty about it because it's a life issue. Some days I get fuller quicker even though I…
  • Personal experience here - last year I noticed a 15-20 pound weight gain in about 1 week's time. Then I noticed my constipation problems a few months later. Doctor assumed I wasn't eating enough fiber and drinking enough water. I did weight watchers after 3rd child was born so I eat a high fiber (35-40 g/day), lowfat diet…
  • It's your overall daily activity that counts. If you get some exercise everyday, you're doing good.
  • Dairy just doesn't mean milk. It also means yogurt, which contains probiotics that are good for digestive health (i.e. help your body to rid itself of excess waste). Maybe that is what they are talking about?
  • I agree! Fat can be a good thing! You need it for healthy hair, skin, and nails. Plus if you avoid fat altogether, that can mess with your gallbladder as well as eating too much fat!!
  • Thanks for the info!!!
  • You can only give her the information. It is up to her doctor to tell her how much she should gain. If she was overweight before the pregnancy, her weight gain should be less than average. I have had three children - you do gain some fat because you may not be able to exercise throughout the pregnancy or, let's face it,…
  • I always use unsweetened apple sauce in my box brownies and cake mixes. Most have the recipe in small print on the box. You may have to adjust the amount of water. I think they are good! Some people notice that they are more moist or chewy - not a bad thing in my book!
  • I have done that before. I don't consider it cheating. It is smart planning - eat lighter for a couple of days before or after an event so you don't stress during the event and you can have a good time! Don't sweat the small stuff - it's the overall picture, not one day!
  • Definitely talk with your dr. Also, a physical therapist can help with exercises to injured areas - it helps with my back. I have a bulging disk but the physical therapist gave me exercises to do to help it as well as get in shape.
  • Hey! I was wondering about the quote at the end of your post.......are you quoting someone or do you come up with that? I think it is really great and if you don't mind, I would like to pass this on to others as it is very motivating and gets to the heart of the matter - especially since I got up this morning at 4:55 and…
  • Definitely take your measurements on a regular basis as well as weighing yourself. That is the only way to be sure about the weight gain. Also, if you keep gaining, go see a doctor!! Something could be wrong. I had a 15 pound gain last in one week's time and my diet and exercise hadn't changed! Went to the doctor this past…
  • I have a bulging disk in my back and the physical therapist advised me to do pilates. I have been doing that for about 1 1/2 - 2 years. I can tell when I haven't done enough pilates training - I can't stand up straight after sitting. Doing pilates will strengthen your core muscles that support your back. However, they…
