  • Well you can either decline, and stay strong in the face of any presure to eat it anyway, or eat it, log it, and respond accordingly (do more exercise, eat less somewhere else in the day).
  • Aww that made me feel warm and fuzzy inside :) Enjoy your non-shopping trip!
  • You know, I don't even think of them as 'cheat' days/meals/whatever. This is a lifestyle change right? Do you think a person who has never struggled with their weight considers it bad if they eat a big meal, or a slice of cake, or has some beers? Probably not; they just enjoy these treats for what they are. When I'm at my…
  • Congratulations on your weight loss! I think sometimes it takes time to reconcile the overweight person you've been previously to the slim one you are now. Maybe take a day window shopping, you don't even have to buy anything if money's an issue. But go out, try a whole bunch of clothes on, figure out what size you are now…
  • Agree, go see you doctor hun. Mine have been out of whack lately, but more in terms of being irregular and stuff. If I was bleeding like crazy (more than the usual bleeding like crazy I get) I'd be straight down the doctors.
  • I go by weekly totals so no, I don't count this as cheating. As long as for the week I'm under my goals, who the hell cares. And I'm losing a consistent 1lb per week, so I'm happy with the way I'm doing things. Don't beat yourself up over one ruddy kit kat. Enjoy it and move on.
  • She's a big girl I'm sure she can take the comments. Since she offered her own personal way of losing weight in addition to the question despite it not actually being neccessary to mention it, you can't then get annoyed if people choose to respond to that part of it. Lots of people try to lose weight her way and struggle…
  • I see your point; different people do indeed lose weight in different ways and have different methods they are comfortable with. Me? I love food. I could probably lose more weight more quickly if I ate less, but I love food so I'm gonna do it my way even if it takes longer. Some people wouldn't be comfortable with that; it…
  • The responses you've got are in reaction to how you're approaching it. Re-read the comments then go read the forums (especially the sticky posts at the top).
  • I doubt it. Even if it did, it wouldn't stop me eating different meals every day. God, imagine a life of the same foods all the time? No thanks.
  • Once a week. I also don't own a scale which is no bad thing (for me).
  • I do this pretty much every day. Especially for events or big meals - BBQs, friends coming round for dinner, going out to eat etc.
  • It is very bad advice, which you will find out for yourself eventually. You can be eating the healthiest food on the planet, but if by the end of it you're netting 100-500 calories then the diet itself is not healthy even if the food is. And yes, everyone is different and people need to fine-tune eating and exercise habits…
  • Absolutely awful advice. You may lose weight this way but you will not be healthy. OP, please disregard this "advice".
  • You sound like you've set your expectations too high and are expecting quick results. Perahps re-adjust your expectations and you'll be happier with the results.
  • My bag contains: - Purse - Phone - Make up - Vaseline - Compact mirror - Kirby grips - Mini hairbrush - Mini hairspray - Chewing gum - Gig tickets - Gig listing flyer thing - House keys - Bobbles - Pen - Bottle of drink - Old shopping list - And always, always a million used bus tickets and empty chocolate bar wrappers. I…
  • I eat the majority of my calories for dinner and snacks after dinner. I'm still losing a solid 1lb per week. Eat when you're hungry and don't worry about the time, it's irrelevant.
  • I think the first poster meant it's not an international standardised unit, which is a fair point and not at all smart-alecy. Incidentally, in the UK we go by 'a glass of water' - no measurement given. Just because us locals know what that means doesn't mean that perhaps it couldn't be labelled clearer.
  • I've set a target of 10 stone which I went for because it sounded like an ok weight to be. Have since found out it's still at least half a stone above the higher end of the BMI targets but I'm not sure how much attention to pay to that. I will re-evaluate when I get closer to goal depending on how I feel/look at the time.
  • Eat the exercise calories back. That is the advice you will get from the vast majority of people on this website. The reason is you need to NET 1600. If you had 1600 calories to eat that day, then burned 1000 off, you'd be left with 600 calories. That's why you eat the 1000, or as close as you can manage, back.
  • + Plan your meals + Stick to your list! + Eat something before you go so you're not shopping on an empty stomach That's about it really. If you know what you want, stick to it and aren't tempted to by hunger to buy random stuff you'll be ok.
  • Save yourself some calories for the evenings and use them when you snack. I eat lightly during the day but my appetite really gets going in the evenings, so I just make sure I have enough left over for a snack after dinner.
  • It's normal! I asked the same question when I first started.
  • http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y142/jezebel_barbie/DSC02771.jpg Honeydew melon, strawberries and kiwi fruit. 169 calories. Edited: Oh I give up!
  • I'm trying! Good job on your 9lbs, you're obviously doing something right too :)
  • Tonight we ate a veggie stew with potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnip, carrots, savoy cabbage, onions and leeks. I also make a sweet and sour stir fry with onions, peppers, baby corn, fine beans, broccoli and water chestnuts (or whatever veg we happen to have handy really). I use frozen peas to make pea soup, and frozen…
  • Sort of. I plan my meals two weeks in advance (we do a fortnightly food shop). Going in armed with a list helps to stop me buying rubbish I don't need and keeps me on track (and on budget). I eat more or less the same breakfast every day, just because I'm not a breakfast person and it's taken me 28 years to find something…
  • Congratulations on deciding to start a healthier way of life! I recommend making small changes and working up. What would be the easiest part of your diet/routine to change? Making a healthier breakfast? Cutting down on snacks? Cutting out alcohol? Where can you fit some exercise into your day? Every change you make will…
  • I don't use the word diet. I've CHANGED my diet, but this isn't a diet. My boyfriend, brother and one or two friends know I want to lose weight, but then they knew I wanted to lose weight all throughout my weight gain too! I don't mention it to others because my weight, eating habits and lifestyle are none of their…
  • I just feel bloated and uncomfortable. Since starting MFP and eating normal sized portions and eating more sensibly I find I don't feel that horrid bloated feeling any more. I've noticed that previously I was almost always like that - not a pleasant way to be! So every time I over-eat and get that bloated feeling it's a…
