  • Logging in early tonight as I want to put my phone away and read. I tend to get lost in the mindless scrolling these days. I am skipping Jiu Jitsu for the second day in a row 😱😱😱 but I know I need the rest. First week back at work since I had COVID and we have only half of our team (which is half of the usual staff…
  • Why does it always turn my pictures 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
  • I woke up sore and tired so decided to skip gym but then it was such a beautiful day that I went for a sunrise beachfront run. Then a crazy morning at work and off to coach kids. I made the decision that I just didn’t have enough energy for Jiu Jitsu so went home to relax a bit and eat (I hadn’t been able to eat during the…
  • @mshawski https://yogaforbjj.livegymnow.com/optinu9b8p9of?grsf=yy3b4l There is the link. It should give you one month free. You do need to sign up with the website but as long as you cancel before the month is over, you won’t be charged. Anyone else is welcome to use the link for their own free trial.
  • For me part of the appeal of yoga is working towards mastering some of the challenging poses. My current aim is crow pose. The right teacher is also important. I’ve been to some that I really hated but I have one in person that I really enjoy and my online yoga for Jiu Jitsu teachers are amazing. (I can give you a month…
  • Morning training session with friends. I suspect my shoulders are going to object tomorrow, plus evening Jiu Jitsu class and work covered my exercise for today. Food was good as I stuck to the plan although I was way under budget as I chose not to have the yogurt and berries snack I planned for after evening training. Hmm,…
  • Busy day but good to be back at work. I missed all the animals but they are doing well. Also good to catch up with my friends (we work in teams at the moment and I’m lucky to work with the nice people). Fitted in a morning gym session as well as coaching the younglings and attending adult Jiu Jitsu. Plus of course the…
  • Morning run. First time I did trail run since COVID. It felt tough during and I walked often but did the 5km under 40 minutes so it wasn’t that slow for me. I decided not to log food as it was my last day of holiday (even though COVID took most of the fun out of my holiday) but then changed my mind and logged what I had…
  • I got my exercise in on my rest day with a morning yoga session and coaching kids Jiu Jitsu (it was only 4 kids and 2 coaches so not a high energy one for me) but I got totally off track and didn’t log food so pass day 2 for me. I did take mom grocery shopping though, first time she has been out of the house since I gave…
  • Pass day for me. Got in the morning run and had no reaction to the rabies vaccine but I went over budget on the calories.
  • @Tuppence26 I’m also Southern Hemisphere but not in quite as different a time zone (South Africa) but I report on the date I am talking about regardless of when I’m logging it or when others may read it. So when I’m reporting for 3 June I look for the thread with that name and comment on how that day went.
  • I nearly skipped training again. I’m unfortunately in the routine of staying home in the evenings after quarantine and winter doesn’t help. However I was giving the teenagers a lift so I couldn’t skip without a valid reason and being lazy isn’t valid. After I got ready she had to cancel due to school work but by then it…
  • Had fun with the kids and a good roll with one of the brown belts at Jiu Jitsu which easily meet my exercise goal for this week. I’m back at work next week so not going to as much on the exercise side as work is active too, but the following week I’ll increase things to get closer to my normal routine. It was cold and…
  • A good day for me. Early training session with friends and our PT got the exercise done although I did get 10 000 steps as well walking around the garden in the sun waiting for the plumber. Spur of the moment coffee with a friend caused supper to become take out as I didn’t have enough time to cook before theology course.…
  • Went over on food but it’s my first day back on the mats so the extra energy was needed. Good to be back training although the first few sessions are always tough after a couple of weeks off. Happy to note it was no worse than usual despite the cause being COVID. Made reasonable food choices so ok with the extra amount I…
  • Oh I forgot to mention that it’s my Jiu Jitsu family who inspire and encourage me every time we step on the mats! I’d be fat and lazy without them.
  • No exercise for me today but a great day. Back at church in time to celebrate a few baptisms at the beach and then catching up with my friends. Logged my food and even though it wasn’t the greatest choices, I was on budget.
  • I went for a run which proved my over my plague. Not super fast but just as expected after two weeks out sick so I’m happy. Coach cleared me to get back on the mats next week but also told me about 20 people got sick from me. Ouch, but it’s actually surprising that this is the first time our club got affected by COVID…
  • I haven’t really learnt anything new this month, just been reminded how much I love working towards something so even though competitions are cancelled for at least 6 weeks, I can start working towards the next one and use that as a focus point for my training.
  • My best camping recipe. Corn (you can use a can but this is better) Cook them on the grill then cut off the blebs from the cob. Add feta, coriander and lime juice. Enjoy!
  • Nearly done with my quarantine. My aunt (in the UK) told my mom I should stay home until I get my vaccination. That isn’t an option here, firstly, my job cannot be done remotely and I’m only able to get my vaccination in the next phase of the process which I think is due to start in mid July. Then I can register on the…
  • She got it from me 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ She picked me up from the airport before we had any idea that I had it. Although we isolated as soon as I had any symptoms, it was too late by then.
  • May had it’s good aspects (got back on the competition mats and earned a silver medal) and some bad days (caught the COVID plague on my trip for competition). But by the start of June I’ll be fully recovered and ready to focus on getting ready for the next competition (even though that won’t be happening for a couple of…
  • Got my steps in today but no yoga as I was doing all sorts of stuff around the house for me and my parents. Mom also got COVID but luckily a mild case as well as she is more at risk due to various factors. Dad is going shopping for us tomorrow as he has remained symptom free so his isolation is shorter. I’m free on Friday…
  • Today I did all my steps and a 30 minute yoga session. Light yin yoga to start with but it’s progress. Good food choices still and apart from my blocked sinus I seem to be recovered. The benefit of getting my steps in by walking around the garden is that I can read a book while I do it because I don’t have to be as alert…
  • A really good day for me. I got in my steps around the garden and soaked up some vitamin d to help with recovery. I realised tonight that I haven’t really had much of an appetite (this realisation came when I actually enjoyed a normal full sized meal for the first time since I got tested.) Working my way through the…
  • Today I got 10000 steps. Thankfully we have a rather large garden although it was a large amount of circles. I did it in two batches but because I got bored not tired. Still eating reasonably well and although I’m not logging I’m confident I’m eating at a reasonable amount for now. Being careful not to rush into overdoing…
  • Thanks for all the support. I’m recovering well and going to try for some light exercise in the garden today.
  • I’m late but this nsv is too good to miss and it did happen on 15th! I stepped back on the competition mat for the first time in over two years, first time with only one kidney, first time since I broke both of the bones in my forearm in a competition! Not only did I not get injured, but I walked away with a silver medal.…
  • Hey everyone. Sorry it took so long to update everyone on my competition. The weekend was great, it was the biggest Jiu Jitsu competition ever held in South Africa and everyone brought their best game. It was amazing to watch all the athletes from the smallest little ones through to the professionals. We live streamed all…
