My opinions based on what I do/did: 0) Check with a doc before engaging in a physical exercise regimen. 1) I had my best weight loss when I worked out 4x per week for 90 minutes each time. 60 minutes of each was cardio (bike/elliptical/I hate running) and 30 was lower or upper body. I generally worked out muscle groups and…

Hey. I lost 30 gained back 40 back on the wagon. My wagon, apparently, is a yo-yo, but here I am. Great thread with good info. Thanks all.

So, I need to drop 30. Decided to kick off with the military diet. It's three days, low calorie, but I'm healthy and my body can handle it. I understand such things cannot be sustained, and such things are not nutritionally good for you, but I hadn't tried something like this before, so .... I stuck to this diet like glue.…

I recommend counting only 1/3 of your exercise calories as measured by MFP. And, I perceive we lose weight by adjusting what we eat and how much, not really by exercise.
-
Log what you eat and keep going. I am not a fan of "eat everything" cheat days because I, personally, hate the setback. But, such days do happen and some folks use that strategy and it works for them. No worries. Keep on going.

Tracking food is an important key. Eating to your calorie goal is very important. Exercising keeps you healthy. Of course, "the military diet" has nothing to do with the military. That's just a name applied to it at this time by those who want to market it. And, fad diets won't help you drop weight over time in a healthy,…

Great job! An inspiration. 55 pulse seems a hair low for normal everyday heart rate. Love the before and after pics. :D Cheers.

Yeah. I didn't want to delete my previous history, though.

Will checkout Arby's. Looking for good salad. :)

"Well. Maybe someone will have the time and patience to look up every single restaurant chain and see what low calorie options they have for you then. I certainly don't. Sorry I can't help." That wasn't what I asked, but thanks for considering it. Cheers.

Thanks! My bad. I thought asking "So, any thoughts about eating sensibly at fast food joints? Subway excepted, what other fast food salads are there worth trying?" didn't require knowing what restaurants are in my area. Will be more careful next time. Cheers.

Maybe 3 miles no sidewalks at 40mph ... What's that at walking speed? 40 minutes one way? I sort of had an idea of exercise as a different thread for weight loss. And, I didn't really want to confuse my goals with exercise with food all in one thread. So, I was asking about food. Good thoughts though. Some walking is…

So yeah, thanks, I get that there's a problem for every solution. So, I had asked specifically this: "So, any thoughts about eating sensibly at fast food joints? Subway excepted, what other fast food salads are there worth trying?" Cheers.

Find a different doctor. Never work with a doc you are not comfy with or whom you don't trust.

Oh, the time factor is I have an hour at lunchtime that is dedicated only to lunch, but my mornings and evenings are much busier with lots of things going on. A bunch of restaurants within a 5-minute drive. (Really, I should work on getting up an hour earlier .... ;) )
-
I know ... with three jobs and a family, it's hard to get that done. Truthfully, 3/5 work days, I do bring lunch. ;)
-
So, we have restaurants that are not fast food, yes. But quantifying or guessing at calories and amounts is very difficult to do. Chains like McDonalds make the counting much easier (even though I understand that actual product will vary some).

That's an Aussie dish or British, I think ... I don't see it here in the U.S. 140 cals sounds way too small for an American portion, too; our salads aren't often much less than 250-300 cals. Maybe it would be good if McD's did bring it here. Cheers.

All great feedback, thanks!

There's no grocery store salad bar option here. Making salads the day before is an option, but they go wilt-y too often. Panrea -- there's not one close, but I think of them as carb-y and calorie-y. Good thoughts, though!

Good points.

Good idea. I do bank calories. For example, this Friday is monthly cards night ....
-
Thanks all! 1380? Because that's what MFP set me up for. ;)
-
Thanks! For some reason, things like Indian food get a little Americanized, which adds 50% more calories ;) Will give it a whirl, though. Cheers.

Exercise to offset additional calories.

"47 here.. just getting started. ..again" to paraphrase someone ;)

Good luck. Track everything! If you fall down, get back up right away.

Thanks! I try to weigh myself 4 times a week, always first thing in the morning before my body manufactures that extra weight that shows up later out of nothing ;)
