Calorie loss math
So, if my BMR is 2000. And, I want to drop 2 lbs. each week. And, it takes minus 3500 calories to drop a pound. Then I need to lose 7000 calories a week or 1000 calories a day. That leaves me max 1000 calories per day intake. How is losing 2 lbs. per week even possible?

CICO, time of day, and beer/alcohol
Hi, Looking for general discussion on beer and alcohol and calories in/calories out (cico). My understanding from reading here is that cico rules. More calories out than in, you lose weight. Cico rules over types of food and cico rules over when the calories are consumed. So, figuring an average 12oz beer is 150 cals, or…

Lowering carbs
Hey, I've searched but haven't found it yet. I would like to lose 2lb per week, have 50lb loss as a goal and plan to increase to moderate exercise in a week. I am thinking of lowering my carb intake, and my doc has approved all of this for a 1500 cal intake. Do you think resetting myfitnesspal goals to 20% carbs, 25% fat,…

Problem with pounds lost showing as zero
So, I've lost 3 pounds but on the home tab, my pounds lost is zero. I found out that this is because, a year ago, I had a lower starting weight than I have now (I left MFP and came back). I found the solution to this (you don't need a new account) as follows:

Fast food salads
Am just too busy. So, a couple of times a week I buy lunch. I found I like McDonald's Southwest Salad with grilled chicken for about 450 cals and D'Angelos cobb salad with chicken, 530 cals (both cals include dressing). I found the chicken from McD's slimy and salty, so find I eat half. For both, I use half the dressing or…

Indian and Sushi
On a paltry 1380 calories per day, is sushi or Indian food possible (in CT, America)? What would you suggest. For example, chicken vindaloo (admittedly British, not Indian) seems upwards of 800 calories per reasonable portion. And, sushi-wise, a simple tuna roll seems 200 calories per piece. Thoughts? Is just really small…

Potassium question
My target goal is default MFP. One of the goals is 3500 (units?) of potassium. How on earth can I meet that? I don't think I can consume enough OJ and bananas on a daily basis to get that done. Ideas? Sean

Card night
So, Friday is card night with the guys. I just started my weight loss. Ugh. My plan is to eat light but well on Friday and build two beers into my MFP calorie plan. Skipping the munchies will be a chore, but must be done. Issue is, I can't blow it in the first week ..... Other ideas?

Back. Yo-yo-ing. Back.
Two years ago, MFP and I did great over a 9-month period. Am back. Am as heavy as I was before. Sigh. Going to get a little jumpstart with GNC and try to settle into a routine I once had. Wish me luck. Sean

Not eating breakfast
Hi, I don't eat breakfast. It's just not my thing. But I am told I should try ... so am going to down a powder shake or something in the morning (like today). Does anyone have a link to a good article on why I should eat breakfast? Thoughts? Sean

Restaurant ads in MFP
Opened MFP today. At the top of the page was an ad for coupons to "Red Robin," Arby's," and "Panera." ROFLMAO. That's no help. Is anything at Panera less than eleventeen million calories, for example? Cheers, Sean

MyFitnessPal works great ... if you use it
I was here, dropped a bunch of weight and got into shape. Then for 12 months let it go. Sigh. Am back on it again. I found before that MyFitnessPal works great. I just have to sort out how to maintain ... but will work on that later. Looking to lose 40 pounds in a week ... ... just kidding. 40 is the goal, and I will take…

So, how much will that burger add?
I just had the most delicious burger ... with bacon. Yuuuuum. (And two beers. :-) Tossed me completely off my diet, though. But, it was very good. So, am I correct in assuming a 1/2 pound burger can't add more than a 1/2 pound to my weight? Such food doesn't have the capacity to create matter, right? I know I hafta live a…

How to handle holiday eating
For us in the U.S., we have a long weekend featuring beer and barbecues coming up. (And, as it happens, my gym has very shortened hours all weekend.) In general, thoughts on handling this food-wise. Can't afford to blow it. Sean

Which HRM and Why?
Hi, Several times I have seen posters recommend an HRM. I assume this is a "heart rate monitor." Most of the ellipticals and treadmills at the gym have these -- I assume they are not really accurate? Although, I am adept at taking my own pulse and the machines aren't far off. So, what is a good HRM and what does it do for…

n00b
Hi all, I've actually been here a week-and-a-half or so and already have dropped 6 lbs since joining. I started slimming before I joined, though. My plan is to combine eating sensibly with eating fewer calories and going to the gym to drop out of the "obese" BMI scale. First step is to get down from nearly 230 to 199.…

Potassium
Hi, Aside from eating a bijillion bananas, how do I meet my daily quota of Potassium. Am 5-7, 225, working out with weights/cardio 50/50 5 days/ week and just want the Potassium to promote recovery. The MFP Potassium number is hard to hit. Supplements seem to offer only 2% of the RDA, so they're no good. Thanks, Sean
