Hi all,
I've actually been here a week-and-a-half or so and already have dropped 6 lbs since joining. I started slimming before I joined, though.
My plan is to combine eating sensibly with eating fewer calories and going to the gym to drop out of the "obese" BMI scale. First step is to get down from nearly 230 to 199. Working on it ....
From these forums I hope to get support and information about making good choices in food and exercise, as well as information about general nutrition and such things as what exercises and, most recently, what is an HRM, why do I want one, and which one do I pick?
Cheers,
Sean

A HRM is a heart rate monitor. I think you ware it and it tracks how many calories you burn. I don't have one. but if you want more responses Post "What is the best HRM".0

HRM = heart rate monitor. Measures your heart rate and therefore your calories burnt, more accurately than gym machines and the generics values in the MFP database. I've heard good reviews on polar monitors, but I dont own one.
And welcome
EDIT: I see you've already asked about hrm's - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/276523-which-hrm-and-why?hl=hrm#posts-36561080 -
Hi everyone!
I did indeed ask about a HRM already ... that's an example of what I want to learn from youse guys.
Cheers,

I own a Polar Ft7 it has a chest strap which is really pretty comfortable, it is super easy to use. I like it so far, I like to micro-manage my calories and it drove me nuts when I didn't know how many calories I burned in my weight lifting. I picked it because Polar is supposed to be a good brand, one without a chest strap is considered useless, and it was the cheapest one that met those requirements I could find $100, still ouch!0
