  • Thanks everyone! It's always reassuring to hear that you're not alone! Happy Easter weekend and good luck to everyone managing calories! I will be eating part of a hollow chocolate bunny tomorrow, but I'll be good and enter those calories! :)
  • I've taken the past ten days off from logging my food. I went out of town, and had limited internet access, then returned and had a hectic week, so today is my first day back. I know I've eaten more, what with being on vacation and then being under stress after coming back home. I'm curious to see how charting my meals and…
  • A few years ago, the NHL All-Stars game was in Dallas, at the same time I was in town for computer training. My classes were being held in one of the event-sponsor hotels, so I saw a lot of hockey players in the lobby and restaurant. Only problem was, I had never seen an NHL game in my life and had no clue who any of them…
  • I don't like football, even though where I live, it's practically a religion. I like baseball, and started watching hockey last season. How are you related?
  • JS Giguere? Cool, jackeh! I'm not a Ducks fan (go Sabres!), but I kinda have a thing for goaltenders. You know, in an "admiring their athleticism" way.
  • Buffalo, huh? Go Sabres!
  • Ooo, are we confessing caloric sins? Sunday afternoon, I wanted a piece of chocolate cake to have with the last of the coffee. We had none, but my mom (bless her heart) said she had a couple boxes of fudge brownie mix. I baked up a batch, and my sister and I barely let them cool before we each had one. Not too bad, you…
  • I saw BLUEBONNETS yesterday! Woo hoo! And then this morning it was 45° as I drove to work. Yep, it was raining, too, which we need here in Austin to keep the lakes full for all of y'all who come visit in the summer! Anybody coming to SXSW next week?
  • I went over by 800 calories today, so I'd have to agree! Krispy Kreme, Girl Scout cookies, pizza. :) It's okay, though -- I lost 1.5 pounds over the past month.
  • In college, my friend and I went to a costume party with a couple of guys. I went with "B" and my friend went with "D" but by the time the party was over, she told me she really liked "B." I only liked both of them as friends. The guys took us back to the dorm so we could change into regular clothes before we all went out…
  • I got some small plastic containers with lids at a craft store, of all places. They sell them for storing beads, but the package showed they were food safe. I use them for toting condiments to work for my lunch, too.
  • Funny -- those sound like something Steven Wright would say: Why are they called buildings, when they're already finished? Shouldn't they be called builts? Why are they called a-part-ments, when they're all stuck together?
  • I used something similar and it does support your lower back, if you do it right. I prefer a big exercise ball -- many more uses.
  • You're welcome! Cute pic, btw.
  • Austin, but born in Waco (and no, they're not all rude!)
  • To remove blood from clothes, make a paste of cornstarch and cold water and apply to the bloodstain. Let dry, then brush the paste off the clothes. Repeat if the stain isn't completely gone. I was wearing a pair of canvas shoes once and cut my heel and this took the blood right out of the shoe.
  • QUOTE: Be careful, it`s contagious. QUOTE: Although a lot of people think that, its not true. Actually, that's only partially true. Several members of my family have had shingles, in varying degrees of severity, and were cautioned by the doctor to avoid contact with certain individuals. WebMD explains: Avoid contact with…
  • I've never been there, but The Big Texan, in Amarillo, has a deal that if you can eat a 72-ounce steak dinner (with sides) in an hour, it's free. Here's an article about it (and yes, many people -- more than 4,000 -- have done it): http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/3087
  • "It should take you exactly four seconds to cross from here to that door. I'll give you two."
  • I'm not familiar with those programs but it sounds like circuit training, which is listed as a cardio exercise.
  • Tuna, light mayo, boiled eggs, dill pickles, granny smith apples, s/p -- but on saltines, not bread. My college roommate always made French fries to eat on the side.
  • I don't think Mats is going to make (or announce) his decision until next week or so, from what I've read. I'm a Texan and holler for the Stars, but my team is Buffalo. Go Sabres!
  • It was such a hectic week, I didn't enter my calories each day and I knew I went over. I finally put them all in (yes, I actually remembered what I ate) and this morning when I weighed, I was exactly the same as two weeks ago! Woo hoo!

  • Hey, 60 minutes on the stationary bike while I watch "The Mentalist" tonight and that Snickers bar is history!
  • I just ate a Snickers bar! The vending-machine, full-sized one! And I don't even feel guilty!
  • Oh, yeah, I went WAY over, but I figure Thanksgiving is once a year, so I ate whatever I wanted. I'm on the "maintaining" plan now, so I'm not as strict. Two weeks after reaching my goal weight, I had lost two-tenths of a pound more, so I don't feel bad if I go a smidge over my daily goal sometimes. The other day I…
  • We love our GF grill! What we've gotten addicted to are grilled sandwiches -- just like a panini, with those yummy grill marks! Not the healthiest thing, but since you choose the ingredients, you can can sub lower-fat cheese, meat, etc. One of the best was leftover roast beef and provolone on sourdough. Smear a little…
  • I saw this recipe on a TV program about cooking for people with celiac disease. I decided to make them for a couple of friends with gluten intolerance. I looked online to find celiac-friendly peanut butter (Skippy's fine) and made them, first by the recipe, then with only 1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar. I liked the less-sugar…
  • My two cents' worth: 1. Look up how much of whatever exercise it will take to burn off the calories for ONE cookie. 2. Do the exercise first (you have to earn the cookie). 3. Eat the cookie, and enjoy it -- don't beat yourself up about it. Maybe drink half a glass of fat-free milk (for the calcium). 4. Brush your teeth (if…
  • Chocolate cake with dill pickles on the side
