  • While I cannot report from personal experience, I have spoken to several sleevers who DO experience dumping. It cannot be from the same reason, as sleevers keep their pyloric valve, but the symptoms they describe are the same.
  • "I'm 27 and considering weight loss surgery - either the Sleeve or the lap band. I would like to know any advice you all have regarding this?" Both work similarly with the patient being satisfied (not full.. there's a difference) on lesser amts of food. Sleeve patients sometimes get a dumping effect.. which is helpful for…
  • IMO, it is starting a war to pick out one particular surgery and down it. All WLS have their advantages and disadvantages. The person should pick out the one that fits their needs and lifestyle the best.
  • Banded almost 3 years, lost 220 lbs (+/-), and have had no severe complications. Please no surgery wars here. We should all support each other. I do suggest researching all options and chose the WLS that will fit the individuals needs the best. OP, feel free to friend me.
  • Might try scuppernongs or muscadine grapes.. those grapes have thick skins (wait.. keep reading) and you squeeze the softer insides into your mouth and throw away the tough skin. • Changing the carbs you eat could help. When I'm focused on wt loss, I do not eat anything with white flour, white potatoes, pasta, rice or corn. These things tend to be high glycemic and when I do eat them, I find that I'm hungrier. Whole grain is better for me and doesn't make me hungrier sooner. You might look into low…
  • About 6.2 cc's in my 10cc band.. and it took me almost 3 years to get to that level. Doc gave me a "starter fill" of 3cc's in surgery. First fill at 6 or 7 weeks was 1cc. Since then they've been either .5 or .2 cc's. Taken up very slowly and have had very little problems. Overfilled one time spring of 2010.. removal of…
  • I don't know what to say about eating back the calories, but I wanted to point out that most machines are not very accurate on calorie expenditure. They are usually over optimistic. I have a Polar HRM. The treadmills at my gym will pick up the Heart Rate from my HRM... and the heart rate is usually very close, within a…
  • I do crunches almost daily and other ab exercises, and so far (at almost 3 years out) no problem. Jessie43082 is right, once past healing stage, you should be able to do most anything. My doctor has the guideline.. if it hurts, don't do it. I go by the guideline.. if it hurts, keep on.. if it's pain, stop. To me there's a…
