1200 is the LEAST you should consume in a day, and that means 'net' calories, so what you eat minus what you burn in exercise needs to equal at least 1200 calories.

To optimize weight loss and fitness, add strength training. Even if it isn't at a gym, you can do push ups, squats, etc.... in your own home. And I second the suggestion of bicycling. It is a great way to get cardio in.

Log everything you consume. And I agree, using the 'Copy From' is a big time saver. Also, when looking for foods, choose the food that doesn't have an '*'. Those are the ones that match the government nutrition info. Example: 'Bananas - Raw'.

Non-starch veggies are the way to go to be full and satiated on minimal calories. I steam and blend 8 oz. each kale and broccoli each day for lunch, with 1/2 oz. brazil nuts and 10 oz. water for a soup. It keeps me full for 4 hours and is only 268 calories.
