I’ll do it with you. I went to the store Sunday and bought lots of what I’m supposed to be eating. I’m 5’4” and 180lbs. I want to lose at least 30lbs before we go to Ireland in August. I have the “Simple Keto” book and it looks like it has lots of good recipes.

I'm in a little different group, but also the same. I'm 66uo and I had my total thyroidectory due to papillary cancer in 1976. The tumor was discovered at my 1st prenatal visit. I was 26. I had a 3 hr surgery in my 5th month of pregnancy and all I cared about was the baby. I would love to help and support you or any of you…

The kidney doc is supposed to be monitoring the sodium I guess. I did call the office, but the dr and nurse were gone for the day. Can't call psych doc unless Emergency and he has no on call dr. I'm so pissed at my H right now. He just made a comment "you just like going to doctors." I went off on him "Oh, that's right, I…

Not sure about salt tablets, but kidney specialist said if I increased salt intake it would make me thirsty so not to do that. This is a little off that, but I was supposed to see a kidney spec anyway due to hematuria in my urine. I told him after restricting water hematuria wasn't showing up on his tests, but when I…

So said I've give you an update if anything changed. Had my kidney specialist appt yesterday and psych appt today. After discussing the med issue he said he felt ok keeping my Trileptal at 900mg as long as I watched my water intake. Must keep it at 50oz and if labs came back normal could increase it to 70oz daily max.…

I want give a shout out to all the positive responses. Feel I now have some great new friends which will be a definite help in my journey to get healthy and fit. Can't wait to share and give support to you! We are on our way!!! Mary

That's probably good for most people, but you have to understand that for me the sugar is what led me to my non stop emotional/stress eating. I now at least try to have a salad every day and incorporate fruits in addition to protein of course. It's really nothing weird. Glad what you're doing is working for you! I have a…

Honestly, I don't think I could have done this without the unwavering support of my girlfriend who has been eating "gluten free" for over a year. She just kept going on and on how much better she started feeling. She recommended the "Whole 30", but I felt it was too strict so went back and looked at the "Sugar Smart Diet"…

I also want to add I had to start logging my calories into MFP again as although I felt I was eating great, those calories do count. so it was back to logging again this week.

I guess you have to understand where I'm coming from, which was eating crap all day, everyday. Going from there to where I'm at I feel is amazing. I never said I eating perfect or vegan or gluten free. My girlfrend is, but she's proud of how far I've come. As I said I've stopped eating all sugar and any type of junk food.…

I have at least 30lbs to lose. Started on "Sugar Smart Diet" 5 weeks ago and have gotten off all sugar and junk food. Trust me this was my way of life. Doing great, but need more friends. Not a fanatic, just trying to eat healthy. I will be your cheerleader as we give each other support in our journey to better health.

Can I ask what med you're on. Trileptal was part of my problem. My eyesight has significantly cleared up after months of being unable to see the TV Menu and looking at possibly 2 eye surgeries. Very scary! Do you have memory problems, trouble walking and/or other issues with the low sodium problem? How low did yours get if…

Txs! Didn't know that. If I have anything significant to report I'll keep it here. Take care also!

Glad that my post has stirred up some useful debate. Regarding my blood pressure. It was still high last week while having hyponatremia. I have a very good digital cuff Omtron blood pressure monitor that's bluetooth so I can sync my #'s to my IPhone and show my doctor. At my physical she wanted to add yet another med, but…

I want to thank you for posting this. I was only dx'd at age 53 after a nervous breakdown and hospitalized. However in the following years it was very upsetting as I'd have one specialist say I had rapid cycling bipolar, hospitalized again and told "not bipolar", hosp again, "yes, you are." So you can see the confusion. I…

Of course now that I know about it and researched it and am getting educated I agree, but like I said I was never informed about this possible problem. I'm feeling more stable this morning. Actually got a good nights sleep for the 1st time in a couple weeks. Sleep has such healing properties and one of the necessities of…

You are very welcome. This is why I wanted to share in hopes it brings something like this to other's attention. Since I certainly didn't know, thought maybe it might help. I did look up side effects from Trileptal and "blurred vision" is also one of the side effects. When I talk to my psych dr I will have to discuss…

12774 - You have a lot of serious medical issues for which you should be following your doctors advice and MFP is not the platform for which should seek any advice. Please follow doctors' orders! I was never seeking medical advice. The original purpose of my post was to share what happened to me after drastically…

Thanks, that's nice to hear!

Dear Cat, paralthpiiano, and mph323, Thank you for your kind responses. I actually took a med I was prescribed to use to bring me back down a little while ago and while I am feeling sedated it's working. Slept for a hour or so and hoping to sleep well tonight. The mania seems to be subsiding, but it could be the med. I…

Point taken. I haven't posted on Community for years so am not at all familiar with what's what. I didn't think I was posting a repeat post as I felt I was replying in more detail to my initial post, which confused many people. I will stop talking about this as I'm so tired and need to rest. I can only call my psych doc if…

TooaBurn, I totally agree. Have been trying to rest and can't shut my mind off. May give my psych dr a call, but hate to call him on weekend, but don't want to get worse either. Just so tired right now. Orangegato, yes psych doc knew exactly what I was doing, as I filled him in ahead of time, knowing you usually only get…
I *have* read the entire thread, but the bolded above from your previous post jumped out at me. Firstly, why are you on Trileptal, which is an anti-seizure medication? Do you have seizures? Yes, it can also be used in conjunction with other psych drugs as a mood elevator, but that's not intended as a primary use.…

I want to reintegrate how much I TRULY APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU for taking the time to respond so insightfully to my post. Yes, I know I need to follow dr's instructions, but also feel they aren't always available to ask so it's people like you, esp. the people who have gone thru similar experiences who help me. Saying to…

Txs! Will definitely check this out!
-
Totally agree! Someone dropped the ball for sure.

Don't see anyone raining on your parade. Everything I've read on this thread has been about people taking time out of *their* day to try and help you as well as doing their best to sort out what's a *very* confusing situation. :)
I am truly grateful for all of you taking time to respond. Was just trying to be…

We're heading into town to the Farmer's Market to buy fresh green beans and see what other good healthy foods I can find. Hope they're not out of the free range eggs. They go fast. I also eat tons of fresh blueberries everyday. Lots of eggs, non-fat Greek yogurt mixed with all natural chunky peanut butter, grilled chicken…
