I use the treadmill a lot. My typical daily workout is 1 hour at a 15 incline at 5 mph for 60 minutes. Sounds like a lot and it was in the beginning, but I have gotten so used to it that I wonder if it has the same beneficial effects. Hard pressed to get my heart rate above 124. I have tried running, but bad knees and a…

At the…

A number of people responded (thanks), but many said they used a heart monitor instead to get a better calorie count. Any suggestions on a good heart monitor? I have seen them on the web anywhere from $50 to $400 (that includes GPS).

I put in 60 min, then a 5 min cool down, but typically I keep it at the same pace.

I log about 35 miles a week of treadmill walking. Bad knees and back prevent running. I usually have the treadmill at the highest incline - #15 and walk about 5 mph. The calorie count is usually about 1450 when I enter my current age and weight. Does this sound right or should I be discounting this count? Sorry, I posted…

Kate, Don't buy a scale. You can have the one in boys' bathroom - no one here to use it. I'll bring it to Pop's tomorrow. Kev
