i recently turned 59 (how can that be? in my head i'm still a kid!) i've lost slowly over the past year and a half, but since that's the time i actually got serious about improving my health and my life, i'm proud of my 37 pounds! i have fibromyalgia, so i do have to be mindful of my activity level today as it will impact…

Oooh--there are a lot of good sounding ideas! i'm a fan of the plain 2% Fage Greek yogurt with berries or other cut up fruit, some agave nectar and either granola or that Fiber One original. Yum and satisfying.

A couple of things: 1) i bought 2 coats a few days ago and they were the smallest i've worn in YEARS 2) i've become a person who says to herself, "you're just reading a book on your Kindle, might as well go to the gym and burn some calories on the treadmill too." Who said that??? ME????

OHHHHH i feel ya..... You've done SO well!!! i've hit a plateau after 37 pounds and my sister dying in March, but look how much you've lost! So great! i too come from a family history of addictive behavior, and it's mostly hit me with the food issue. i stumble and fall on a regular basis, it seems, especially since losing…

i know that even with just following a juicing diet for a couple of weeks will go a long way to detox--have you seen "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead"? Very interesting. Even they have an absolute lack of energy in the first few days of detoxing, so i'm wondering what would be the physical effect of a water fast? Like, what…

HOLY CRAP, GIRL! You look AWESOME!!! You have every reason to feel proud and to show it off. It's an inspiration to the rest of us!! Well done. :-)

i've gotten several pairs at Target and they've been good-- i think the ones that tend to creep in the crotch are the ones that are made to hit below the waist, and then with movement they want to go above the belly and that pulls them up in the nether regions.... So i try to always get ones that sit comfortably more at…

My personal trainer basically said to "eat clean" as in purer, healthier foods, and if you really want something like cookies, limit yourself and count the calories, but don't do it all the time! That way you won't feel deprived. And i've found over time that having multiple mini meals is more satisfying for me, like…

Wow! Your face...your legs....well, the whole thing, really!! impressive! My sister died in March this year, and i feel a bit like you in that her health became my cautionary tale in some ways. i'm so sorry for your loss, but i'm glad to see that didn't take down your desire to improve your health. And super well done for…

i have fibromyalgia, so there are some similarities in our symptoms. We can still lose weight, i think the process is just a bit slower, given the nature of our issues. When it takes more time to recover from exercise we have to go into it more slowly and carefully and work up, at least that's what i've found. And if…

THANK YOU for posting that--now i finally understand why people post "bump"..... and the piece of the puzzle falls into place! LOL!! i also love my Polar FT7, i had my gym trainer help me set it up for the "fitness zones" and it's been quite revolutionizing. I have fibromyalgia and so i am somewhat careful about the types…

i was going to say exactly what Valerie and said about the Champion one with the molded cups. i had bought cheaper ones that ended up being the highly unattractive "uni-boob" but the newer style with molded cups has MUCH better support for my 40D needs, and they're under 20 bucks. Can't beat that price! And i love being…

i'm a huge fan of the obligatory fatpants pic! WELL DONE!

Also, in reading all the posts, there is BIG wisdom to be gained from a lot of people who really want you to be healthy and well! i'm impressed and amazed by all the total strangers who are willing to help you choose well! Give a doctor and/or therapist a chance--you do need more help than you may be able to figure out on…

What's more important to you, feeling healthy or looking like a coat-rack with clothes on? i don't understand why it seems like a game to some people, this getting so thin you could pass out at any minute. My oldest daughter went through that in high school and it was pretty scary! Mental and physical health are what…

SO WELL DONE!! Even if this sounds kinda weird i have to say it--i'm so jealous of your cute little knees!

LOTS of good thoughts on this already! i'm married to one of those guys too. At least he does comment on what good work i've done, but he wants to eat all the high calorie stuff that i don't dare! But sometimes i make the things he likes and i just have a very small portion and a salad or veggies to fill in the gap for me.…

This is TOTALLY a guess based on my own experience over the years (almost 59 of them! YIKES!) and the millions of things i read for years and didn't put into practice till this past year, BUT-- i think it sounds like you've listened to your body and it has told you what it needs and wants, and that it has managed to…

YAY for you!!!! Such happy news. I had someone look me up and down at the gym on Thursday, then say "you've lost weight!" "Why yes I have!" I said, preening proudly. Love those moments! Thanks for sharing yours!

Way to go! You're getting some definition!

40 years ago i did the Grapefruit Diet. i still can't face a grapefruit.

You look so good!!! You were a pretty girl at 183, so i can't imagine how great you'll look at your goal! My goal of the moment is to get out of the "obese" category of my bmi. :-P

My friend just logs using the calories shown on her heart rate monitor, i usually use "raked yard" or whatever like that. i keep thinking about getting a fitbit or a hrm, but so far things are working the way i'm doing them, so it's good enough for me!

i often reassess what i thought i'd be making for dinner if i went a bit higher than usual during the day. That's one reason i like the calorie counting part of this, because i can know either "oh! i can have a little bit more of that" or "dang, better be cooking really low calorie tonight."

You've lost 72 pounds and 20 years!!! WAY TO GO!

This is all so sad! PLEASE remember that for every remark that squashed your self-esteem, it was about the stupidity of the person saying it, not about you! It's something people do because they're ignorant, or it makes them feel better about themselves because even though they're bullies and mean and thoughtless, "at…

My no-brainer go-to is 2% fat plain Greek Yogurt (i like Fage brand) with cut up fruit and some agave nectar for sweetener. Sometimes i add cereal with fiber. Love it and it sticks with me!

Big YAAAAAY for you! It's so great when you start seeing the results of all your hard work! And you're so much smarter doing this at your age, i'm 58 and it's taken me this long to get serious! Here's to all the wonderful, fit years ahead of you. :-)

Another thing i've done to help switch things up is to eat varied calories per day during the week, as long as the week's total is within the boundaries, like if i'm eating 1400 per day average i might be under by 200 one day or two, then over that much another day or two. But the week still totals out to the net average…

[/quote] Can you do jumping jacks? Can you do air jacks? how about a pushup but on your knees? or a crunch? jumping ropes? even a half burpee or mountain climbers? jump on the spot with your arms above your head? Can you lift a gallon of water above your head? Can you raise your legs up to stretch your calves? Can you lie…
