126.19 miles. Yes, that 0.19 mile definitely counts :-)

If everything goes as planned, I will be running the Publix Georgia Marathon on March 18th. If I cannot make it to the States on time, I will have to look for another spring marathon somewhere in Europe. I cannot let all of this training go to waste.

Trashed all my old clothes and bought a new wardrobe.

Hello all. I am Megan. I realized that I was in this group and never introduced myself. I guess it's better late than never, I am also an adult-onset runner. I started running in 2010 after losing a significant amount of weight, with the forcing of my personal trainer. Since all of the women in my family on both sides…

THIS! Or massage my shoulders, my back.... Heck, massage me anywhere.

I ran three half marathons and my first full marathon is on October 30th. Only three weeks to go! I am getting very excited about it.

I always look at the diaries. They sometimes give me good ideas and sometimes, as you have mentioned, signal that a person is being too strict or is on the way to an eating disorder. I do not comment on people who have closed diaries, whether they are below or above their limit. Sometimes those limits are arbitrarily…

I am a runner and am training for a full marathon on Oct. 30th. Just ran a half yesterday. Feel free to add me.

I am in Atlanta, in the city.

I have a half-marathon tomorrow morning (Oct. 2nd) and a full marathon on Oct. 30th. Good luck to all the racers.

Ooops. Mine is supposed to be 161, not 141.
-
Ran 141 miles.

I forgot to add. Running is not easy at any weight. When I first tried, I could barely run for 3 minutes. I slowly built up from there with run-walk intervals.

I am 5'4" and I started running after I got below 170 lbs. My trainer was pressuring me to run much before that, but I refused since EVERY woman in my family, on both parent's side, either had or needs to have knee replacement surgery. I though I would damage my knees if I started running when I was heavier. I now know…

That is what I already have and I was thinking of using that one.

Thank you for all the feedback. I will take Friday and Saturday off and will try to run the half as fast as I can. We'll see how it goes :-)

Any intense cardio puts stress on the body and increases the chance of a cardiac event, but studies actually have shown athletes, including marathoners, are actually healthier and live longer than the general population. This is the kind of alarmist article that my mother reads and then calls me to ask why I cannot run…

The goal is to digest 30-60 grams of carbohydrates per hour after the first 30 minutes for workouts longer than 75 minutes. You can choose how to get those carbs. Sports drinks are one way. You can also choose gels which come in 100 calorie (25 g carb) packs. There are also chews, which are my favorite. Gels and chews need…

Why don't you simply brew your own tea from either loose tea leaves or from a tea bag? Tea itself has no calories and you can control the sweetness by deciding your own sweetener and how much.

Thank you for the feedback everyone. I will be running with a group tomorrow and they will do either a 14-mile run or a 16. Maybe I should go ahead and run 16 tomorrow then. I never thought of having a 4-week taper; that would drive me crazy I think, but wondered if I should fit in a run longer than 20 miles, but I will do…
-
Yes, that is what I thought. Last weekend I ran 18 miles and tomorrow I will run 14 miles. My training schedule calls for 20 miles next Saturday and then goes down to 12 miles the following week, and then to 8 miles the week before the marathon. I am thinking of running a half instead of the 12 miles.

I just bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0034G4SF0 It has a nice zipper pocket.

1:50:34 on a hilly Atlanta course.

You want to lose 40 lbs??? If you are indeed 5'4", that will put you to 107 lbs, which is underweight. I think your weight loss goal is a bit too drastic. As for your breasts, mainly what others said. I am also 5'4" and when I was 230 lbs, wore 40DD. I am now 134 lbs and wear a measly 36B. You never know.
-
As you said, everyone is different. I am 5'4" and carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs. When I was 145 lbs, I was wearing size 8/10 jeans. Dress pants were definitely a size 10. Hope this helps.

I thought running at race pace would give me an idea about what is feasible on race day, but maybe that is not such a great idea. I usually run my long runs at a pace of 9'40". My longest run so far is 16 miles but I will run an 18 miler on Saturday.
-
Thank you so much for your feedback! I know about the importance of starting out slow; I have been guilty of it in the past and paid for it in the end. My fastest half is 1:50:34. Maybe I should run with a 4:00 pace group for the training run then and see if it is too taxing?
-
Yes, I will run the 14 miles either way. Since I never ran a marathon before, I am going with my last half-marathon pace, which is about 8'22" per mile. The pace calculator at runnersworld.com says I can finish the marathon at 3 hours 45 minutes. I am considering either the 3:45 team or the 3:55 team they have.

For fancy dining, I like Seasons 52. Everything in the menu is under 480 calories and it is very delicious. For casual fare, I like Panera and Corner Bakery. Also, I love the Moroccan Chicken Salad at California Pizza Kitchen. It fits into my diet when I order the small, which is still huge, so I like going to CPK as well.
