I don't agree with the person who said that its "not your place" to suggest healthy changes. Your marriage makes you a partnership, and you have every right to express your concerns because you care about him and his future (with you). I honestly think if you approached him saying the things you've said here, there's no…

It doesn't matter. What matters is finding a time you can get there, and preferably make a reguluar habit/routine of getting there. I prefer early in the morning, but its not for everyone, and trying to force yourself to go at a time that you aren't able to maintain will get you nowhere in the end.

This! and yes, try to cut back sodium. It causes water retention (not to mention can contribute to high blood pressure) and can hinder weight loss.

Couldn't have said it better! I forced myself to finish the first book (despite the urge to smash my Nook into 1000 pieces if I had to read the words "inner goddess", "flush", "blush" or "gasp", one more time). It was the worst writing with the least endearing characters of any book I've read in decades.....possibly ever.

sorry OP for getting off topic!

:drinker: I had kids ask to pet my dog a few times....every time, I said "no" and then thanked the parent for teaching them to ask...so even though I'm currently between dogs, I have to say "thank you" to you for being smart enough to teach yours that caution! Unfortunately, there's a lot of pet owners who aren't mindful…

It happened to me more than once (the poking of the dog that is.....not the kicking of the children:laugh: ).
-
  so tempting! Sometimes I do believe there should be a leash law on (at least some) children too!
-
That's exactly how mine was...she was awesome in public (never bothered anyone), but she did NOT like strangers and never warmed up to any child. She had to observe new people for quite a while before she decided if she liked them first (only then would she allowed new people to pet her). If you haven't heard of it…

Seriously! How sexy are those dirty, bloody men?

I would proceed VERY cautiously with this advice...I know you didn't specifically say "pet them", but that's what saying hello means to a lot of people. As a former pit bull owner, I would always advise extreme caution with a dog you don't know (regardless of breed or size). Mine stayed within our property lines and kept…

We used to have a pit bull who did the same thing. I felt bad because there was one particular jogger she hated, but she knew better than to leave the property (I had to apologize to him a few times, because I could totally understand his fear).

I carry pepper spray when I run, walk or bike...I've been chased in the past and live in the country where a lot of people have agressive dogs and a lot of stupid people can't seem to keep their dogs on their own property. I haven't had to use it, but I would not hesitate if threatened..

Maybe you really DO want to lose weight,. Almost everyone who is overweight "wants" to lose, but so many aren't willing to put in the work it takes to make it happen. Focus on wanting to change the bad habits that got you to this point, even if its one habit at a time......but you have want to do the work to see the…

When I was a high-school athlete, I could eat things I certainly can't eat anymore without gaining any weight too...I'm not sure that's the best comparison for the average person. From a "HEALTH" perspective....exercising may help negate some of the effects of eating foods without good nutritional value, and can definitely…

They are both important, but you don't NEED to exercise to lose weight. The common misconception is that people think you can eat all kinds of crap as long as you exercise. You can't out-exercise a poor diet!
-
Not lately, but yes...I live in the country and its just how it goes sometimes. I'm not as sympathetic as MonotonousMat though....if they venture into my home, they WILL die!
-
I get that sometimes too....drink more water for sure and add potassium. Make sure you stretch before bed (also before and after exercise)...

Also, with that birthday coming up (and if you can do it tactfully), maybe suggest to anyone who buys you a birthday gift that $$ would be good gift this year?

I love biking outdoors, but last time I had a cheap bike, I rarely rode it and it ended up rusting out in my carport at my last home. I borrowed a pregnant friend's good (Gary Fisher) bike one summer, and loved that so much, I immediately went out and got myself one at at bike shop. Since buying a higher-end bike, I ride…

You mentioned your exercise...but what are you EATING?
-
TRUTH! If you aren't counting and making sure your portions sizes are accurate, then you don't really know how much you're eating also,

Take this advice, and I'm so sorry for your loss. My mother-in-law died in a car accident about two years ago, and losing someone so unexptectedly is very difficult on those they leave behind. I do have a friend who started running (her own version of thearpy) after losing both parents in a relatively short time span, and…

:drinker: Way to go...Congratulations!

What do you plan to do at the gym? I go early (like 5AM) and most mornings I'll eat a granola bar, then shower, dress and have a 'recovery' chocolate milk in the car on the way to work (and something more about an hour later at work). For years I never ate before the gym at all...just a little coffee on the way there, but…

have you been fitted for proper running shoes yet? If not...you really need to. I used to get shin pain till I got the right shoes for me.... OP...you'll do fine. Make a killer play list, and just do the best you can. I agree with those that said slow down, and just hang in there. Don't put too much pressure on…

but here's the thing....you really DON'T know what they are going through. The might actually be a far superior athelete to you, and are recovering from illness or injury that caused a major setback. The also might not care to lose weight, but like to go out for a walk once in a while. Some people might find it…
