I tend to get up around 5 to be at the gym by 7, and have a bowl of cereal - either wholegrain cereal with milk or muesli or granola with yoghurt. I'd rather make sure I've got some sort of fuel in me - tried working out once on an empty stomach and felt decidely ill!

Basically - what everyone else has said! Remember that this is a lifestyle choice, and that means you can allow yourself a bit of flexibility; too many restrictions on what you allow yourself to eat and drink could lead to the occasional spot of rebellion - as one of the other posters here said, ask yourself why you had…

Hi - know what you mean about not feeling 50! Best of luck with your weight loss - I've been on here since around the end of June, have lost 35 pounds and still have a stone to go, by keeping track of what I eat and exercising - I have had personal training sessions which I only meant to have to give me a kick start but…

Well done on giving up the smoking - I live near London - feel free to add me!

Just sent you a friend request! I'm in UK, and live near London

Well done - that's the same amount of weight I am aiming for - am around halfway there! You look absolutely stunning in your 'after' photo!

Welocme :) This is a great place for getting support - it's definitely helped me!

If you are worried that your iron levels are low you should definitely get yourself checked by a healthcare professional before taking any supplements. Vitamin C helps with iron absorption so make sure your meals include something high in vit c along with the food containing iron.

Hello everybody. I'm Evelyn, from Staines, plodding along and really pleased with the progress I've made since finding this site!

I'm also in the uk - feel free to add me :-)

Hi - I've found the site really useful, am becoming addicted to logging my food intake! It's great to see steady progress, and I find it helpful to be amongst like-minded people; the community aspect is definitely an asset. Good luck with your weight loss and feel free to add me if you would like some support.

Hi and welcome. The food diary and exercise log are great tools to help you stay on track but I can honestly say that it's the support from other members that is helping me to focus. I check in a few times per day if I can, and really get a buzz from seeing how my mfp friends are doing - I think the community aspect of the…

Hi, I weigh once a week on a Monday which is the day I joined MFP - so if I'd joined on a Tuesday I'd weigh on Tuesdays.. I try not to weigh in between as it's easy to let things get a bit obsessive, and as this is meant to be a lifestyle change I don't want to get myself chained to the scales 24/7, but keep a bit of…

Take a friend shopping with you who can support you and maybe steer you into things you might not normally choose - a fresh pair of eyes for your new shape. Congratulations on achieving such a big weight loss, you've done really well and now it's time to reward yourself.

Hi - sendiing a request :)

Hi - I'm from the london/surrey/middlesex borders... this place is great for motivation and focus. Feel free to add me if you wish:)

Only if you drink alone :-)

Fabuous!!! Thanks, it's exactly what I needed. Knew this was the best place to come.

Usually I can find something in the food database or on the internet which sounds close enough for me use for logging purposes but so far I haven't had much luck with this... You're right I can estimate the components, though because everything was so mushed up it's a bit tricky to visualise.

I would recommend what I had if I knew what it was :)
-
Duh....... of course - that was it! Thanks for clearing that up for me lol!

You've already had lots of good advice and I wouldn't be able to add much in the way of food suggestions, however are you drinking plent of liquids? Sometimes a glass of water can stave off the cravings for a snack until it's tiime for your meal... just a thought...
-
Everyone's already said it really, try and make sensible choices, stay hydrated etc. I think the most important bit of advice though is to enjoy the time with your friend and try not to worry about the weight loss for this week.

At the gym I go to there is a real mixture of shapes and sizes and ages. I'm fifty, still pretty unfit but getting better, and after around six personal training sessions I can honestly say that once I'm there I couldn't give a monkey's about what other people think. I started at just over 200 pounds and am down to about…

I am not what you'd call a morning person and don't tend to do morning workouts. The reason I'm responding is that I always used to have a problem with alarm clocks and would go through several repeat snooze button bashings before I'd haul myself out of bed. Nowadays I have an alarm set on my mobile phone and I don't take…

Thanks tigersword - I appreciate everything's an estimate, obviously so long as we're taking action to use more calories than we take in then we should manage to lose the weight regardless of what the different bits of equipment say. So far, for me at least, things have been going well so I guess I'll continue as I've been…
-
Thanks, will check out caloriesperhour... Meanwhile I think I've probably had a sensible approach (go me! lol)

Hi, feel free to add me. I am having a series of personal training sessions - I know they're doing me good and my fitness has improved - even though sometimes the sessions are slightly torture-astic! I'm sure you'll find MFP brilliant for staying focused on the job in hand...

Hi, I live just outside London, the England one, on the Middlesex-Surrey borders! Feel free to friend me if you wish - you're right, this site is comprehensive and definitely helps to keep the focus on melting excess poundage away. It's also mildy addictive... (though that might just be me)...
