There's a new website www.thechangeexplained.com about to launch which gives no nonsense advice about the menopause and the natural way to combat symptoms :-D

Fantastic blog :-D I'm compiling a not for profit book of 'menopause stories' and I would love to include this! Please let me know if you would agree? Very many thanks Alison :-D x

That's the thing with taking HRT you're just delaying the symptoms. When you stop taking it the symptoms start up all over again. I don't see the point. As well as the jury being out on whether HRT is safe or not (my opinion is that it is not) I just never fancied taking pregnant mares urine in any form! The good news is…

Going on a synthetic hormone (HRT) was never a consideration for me. I found the idea of taking something made from pregnant mares urine repulsive. I did an enormous amount of research about the phases of menopause and I have virtually eliminated all of my symptoms the natural way. Healthy balanced diet, plenty of exercise…

Thanks for sharing :-D truly inspirational xx

Yes your symptoms would suggest that you are entering peri-menopause x
-
That's absolutely fantastic! Very well done and continued success against all the (menopause) odds :-D xx
-
OMG! 9 years! Have you had a blood test to confirm that you are still in peri menopause or in menopause?

In my experience the hot weather doesn't make any difference to the frequency or intensity of the hot flashes it just makes them more uncomfortable to bear! I found that keeping a fan to hand helped, as soon as I felt a hot flash coming on I would grab it straight away and this helped to cool me down quicker :-D
-
I'm glad that you seem to be escaping most menopausal problems :-D I understand completely ruining a good day with the night time munchies as I do it too! Unfortunately there is no magic wand or easy route, weight gain as a result of the menopause seems to be the hardest weight to lose, and it really is will power! Log…

The age that your Mum/Grandmother/Aunties etc started their menopause will give you a good indication as to when you will start yours. If your Mum was 41 then it is likely that you will have started your perimenopause looking at the symptoms you have mentioned. Most doctors are unsympathetic and seem to lack a lot of…

Hi there, I can understand what you say about hunger! I don't know if its beause of the change of weather and the early dark nights but I can't stand feeling hungry either. This didn't seem to bother me when the weather was warm and the nights were longer so there must be some link but I'm really struggling to overcome the…

An attack of the munchies every now and again is no problem :-D in fact its good to mix things up now and then as it keeps you body guessing and less likelihood of a plateau :-D xx
-
Hi, MFP has helped me with my new healthy lifestyle and weight loss journey :-D Debbie is spot on with her weight loss advice ... it is possible but there is no escaping the fact that it is hard ... no easy options unfortunately. I have done a lot of research and it would seem that most peri and menopausal women get no…

Same here :-D top and bottom aren't too bad but the middle bit is refusing to budge lol :-D

I've been doing a lot of research and Promensil is the name that keeps cropping up time and again and I think it's the one I will try :-D I'm on a training course at the moment and had to fan myself due to 2 massive hot flushes this morning accompanied by concerned faces looking at me and asking are you ok lol :-D
-
@annarouni ... you're not imagining it you're correct, among the 50+ possible symptoms of the menopause that I am currently researching is a change in body odour, which can become worse as a result of a hot flash! This is something that I am experiencing too :-/ I will be posting my findings soon and this is one of the…

I am so pleased to join this group :-D My GP confirmed earlier this year that I had definitely started the Menopause :-/ and have already passed the peri menopause stage. I have been doing research for the last 6 months and have amassed a huge amount of information which I will be delighted to share with you all as I am on…

When I hit a wall my PT told me to 'shock my body' ... so I had a pizza and a few days of no training :-D When I got back on it again the weight and inches started to fall off once more :-D So don't lose heart, have a break, mix up your eating and exercising ... our bodies get used to what we do so keep it guessing :-D
-
Your PT agrees with mine ... small meals often, healthy balanced diet, low sodium and sat. fat, mix of cardio and strength training ... slow and surely wins the race :-D
-
I would recommend eating back your exercise calories. If you don't and your calorie intake drops below the 1200 level (daily allowance + exercise calories) you risk your body going into starvation mode x
-
I totally agree with this, I hit a plateau and my PT suggested I up my calories and 'shock' my body back into life!! First week of doing this I lost more than in the whole previous month ... it definitely works :-D
-
Break your day down into eating something every 2 - 3 hours instead of eating all your calories at your meal times ... this helped me beat the 'munchies' and balance my day :-D you're doing brilliantly well done :-D x
-
Wholemeal bread - cos they're relatively good carbs - pack it with protein and loads of salad and low fat dressing of some kind :-D
-
Awesome :-) the sound of running feet, chattering and laughing ..... as the mum's run out of the school gate to resume their coffee mornings :-) lol
-
