  • thanks guys, I will try out some of these suggestions soon! They sounds good.
  • This isn't a diet, it is a life style change. I think eating out on your birthday is good. It is a treat. As long as you are not indulging all the time then it is fine.
  • Met people along the way mostly. I joined the site because a good friend of mine used it to help her lose weight, and she is my one 'real life' friend on here. I have a handful of other good souls as friends because we have similar goals, or starting points (i.e. vegetarian, 5'4", 26ish, going down from 146 to 125 ish).
  • Progress isn't always a straight line :)
  • Positive encouragement to keep going and to keep tracking is, i believe, useful even if the person eats unhealthy. As someone else mentioned, it is a learning curve. The support someone recieves could make the difference between them deciding that it is too hard to not eat as they used too and just quitting, and that same…
  • Have you tried looking online for a sports bra? The make that i use is called 'shock absorber', and I can vouch that they are great. Their site has a bounce-o-meter to show the change in movement due to wearing the sports bra... it is very amusing: http://www.shockabsorber.co.uk/bounceometer/shock.html

  • I was wondering how much boobs would shrink with weight loss. Mine are a hefty weight, and I'd love to have smaller ones, where i wouldn't have to pay ridiculous prices for a bra. In terms of support though I have found that there are some really good sports bras and they have minimised movement (im a UK 30G). As I gained…

  • Thanks for sharing this, it looks really helpful! I can be an emotional eater whenever i am upset (or bored). I found that entering in the thing i am about to binge on into MFP beforehand and seeing how much damage it does to my progress and daily limits helps to put me off eating that tub of ice cream.
  • I don't think that I personally require a piece of paper to show love or commitment. A friend once put it the perfect way (for me), that a wedding is not about proving your commitment to each other - you both already know how strong your love is- but about sharing that love and commitment with everyone else, it is about…
  • My partner and I have a brilliant stand off - He wants me to propose with a big diamond ring, and I want him to take my name. We have been together for 5 years, we have a mortgage and 3 pets together. I don't want to get married. I love him, and believe I always will, but I don't see the need for a big expense like a…
  • I think it really depends on how much you are honestly going to use it. If you are going to be there three or four times a week, every month, and you use the equipment then it is totally worthwhile. However if you are like me and get a boost of gym going for a week followed by not going for a month, then it is probably…
  • I've been logging the 30 day shred as aerobics.
  • Maybe finding an exercise which doesn't feel like exercise would help him improve his overall fitness, which in the long run would help his ability to run (and his health). When I was a kid I hated any kind of school sports. I didn't see the point in any game that involved chasing a ball, whacking a ball with a stick,…
  • Venice is said to be very lovely, i haven't been but everyone i know who has gone has recommended it. Likewise with Vienna, Salzburg, and (i think) anywhere carribean. Following the Tour de France does NOT sound like a honeymoon!
  • I don't follow a strict meal plan, so cannot really help. What I do is to have a weekly meal plan for lunch/dinner (all meals which i consider to be fairly healthy), and then on the day I will often enter things into my diary long before I eat them. That means I have a good idea of how many calories I have left for…
  • I started today, sweated tons and found it challenging, but in a good way. I will tell you tomorrow how day two goes :)
  • I think a lot depends on your start weight.. someone who is 300lbs and eat 1200 calories will lose the weight faster than someone who is 150lbs who also eats 1200 calories. I am eating ~1200 calories, and should lose about 1 pound a week, so to lose a stone would take me 14 weeks.
  • I have a friend who will buy a whole chicken, and then she cuts into into the portion sizes needed for different meals and freezes the portions. She uses what is left for making stock and soups. I'm vegetarian, so i have never tried it, but it is said to be much cheaper than buying individual bits of chicken. My main tips…
  • steamed broccoli, carrot, potato, peas, sweetcorn and red pepper - all smothered in a cheese sauce :)
  • I try to go for a glass of skimmed milk, or a piece of fruit... but often end up with a packet of crisps, or a few biscuits...

  • I've used a few recipes from there, not looked into the binder option but could be worth a shot. I keep meaning to make up paper copies of my favourite recipes to keep in the kitchen.
  • Congratulations on beating the craving! I usually call a friend for a chat if I start feeling like I am going to binge... It keeps my mouth too busy to be tempted to eat, and I soon forget about whatever I was craving. I too have a much larger other half. He's almost a foot taller than me, and so has a much larger…
  • 26, and staying in the Midlands, but originally from Scotland. Would love to have more people to form a support network! I am 5"4, 142lbs, and vegetarian :)
  • ach, go on then.
  • I try to log everything, but with cups of tea i normally cheat and just add the amount of milk used for tea in one entry. So if i have 5 cups of tea each with 15ml of milk then I do one entry for 75ml of milk. It is easier to do it that way than to enter every cup of tea.
  • >IamnotJessica Making things yourself can be much cheaper, although somewhat time consuming. You can buy bread flour and make your own bread. Use plain flour to make your own noodles or pasta. Making things in large quantities and then freeze a few portions is a good time and money saver. My partner makes a spag bol with…
  • No idea if eating late at night would affect rate of weight loss. I am inclined to agree that calories in vs calories out is the main factor. There is another reason why your evening meal should be at least 3 hours before you go to sleep though. Eating too late is disruptive to your sleep, it can affect your sleep quality,…
  • try a yoghurt and a piece of fruit?
