Oh, and don't compare yourself to others! Particularly not others who are much taller than yourself.

1) Find out what motivates you: When i first started i lost weight (water weight?) pretty quickly and when that rate of loss slowed i found it hard to keep going. Find all the things that motivate you and keep them around. Even little things like logging food before you eat it can help you decide if the cake is worth it…

This sounds delicious!

When you find you want to comfort eat there are a few things you can try: - Call a friend. chatting on the phone will keep you occupied until the cravings subside. - Go for a walk (with kids). Removing yourself from the vicinity of food can help. - Craft something. I find keeping my hands occupied with crochet, knitting or…

Your food diary looks like it contains very few cooked meals - might adapting your diet be a more budget friendly way to get the nutrition/protein contained in expensive protein shakes?
-
I quite often have a glass of skimmed milk to top up my protein as the fat content is very low. Otherwise I would struggle to get above 35 for protein most days.
-
I'm vegetarian as well, quite a lot of us about :) I really struggle with gettig enough protein - especially as I don't like eating tofu/quorn (it's a texture thing). I've been knocking back lots of skimmed milk to get my protein levels just up to the recommended levels here, and would love to find better sources. Any…

Congratulations! I need to re-start the 30DS so I can get to that point :)

Some posters have touched on this but I have to say that HOW you shop is as important as what you buy when it comes to meeting your budget. I found that deciding the entire weeks meals in advance and then only buying items on the list made a huge difference. Impulse buys, and 'oh that looks nice', and even some special…

I'm 5'4", and my goal weight is in the range of 125lbs - 120lbs. Currently sitting at 127.5lbs :) Started at 146lbs.

A few things had to happen for me to realise: -My clothes became really tight, and when i went to buy a new pair I admitted to myself that i was no longer a size 10 and would have to buy size 12, went to the shops, and didn't fit into a size 12, had to buy size 14. -Went to an amazing conference and could only focus on how…

Olson87, do they hurt less? Or do they continue to ache? I did week one day two of the C25K programme today. It felt good to be exerising. I can't wait to be able to run for longer.
-
Hey folks. I started the C25K programme yesterday, and boy do my legs hurt today. I have never been athletic, and this is my first attempt at running, so I will be taking it slowly. I am really excited to have finally started (I downloaded the app to my phone about 2 months ago). Hopefully I'll be checking into this group…

If i am really tempted by sweet things then I add them to my food diary (before deciding to eat them), and see what kind of damage they would make to my day. If I think I will have room for it, then I eat it. More often that not I decide not to, because once I have stepped back from the immediate impulse of wanting…

I don't record the weight, but I do still weigh myself. I know from experience that at the end of my period I am a few pounds heavier than I will be a few days later.
-
Congratulations! That is awesome. Hopefully in a few months I can be where you are now :)
-
Baked potato by itself is fine i think, but if you tend to have it with lots of butter and cheese then it is less healthy :)

Eating on a budget tips: Plan out your meals in advance weekly, and then ONLY buy the food needed to make those meals Don't buy the 'buy one get one free' offers unless it is something that keeps for a long time, and you would have bought anyway. Frozen veg can be very helpful if you are short on time If you do have time…

Meat (including fish) Eggs (but are alright in cakes and muffins) Cauliflower Aubergine Tofu Quorn Cottage Cheese Celery ...probably lots more too. I am a fussy eater :p

That is just lovely.

Princessjanice - Congratulations on your weight loss. That is a tremendous loss. I think sometimes that the last person to see the weight loss is the person who is losing it. You see your body everyday, and so changes over a long time scale aren't always as obvious to ourselves as they are to external observes. If you want…

I find it comforting to leave wiggle room in my goals. So i aim to lose 1lb per week, but give myself 5 weeks to lose 4 pounds. That way if anything happens to stop regular progress I have a little lee-way. I haven't actually had any problems so far - i am ahead of schedule :) I agree that having concrete goals is a great…

between 108lbs (18.5 BMI) and 145lbs (24.9 BMI). Edit: I am 5'4" too :)

yay for XKCD! It is a brilliant comic :)

It would be handy if the reporters recognised (and discussed) the difference between correlation and causation in this case. :)
-
Congratulations! That's an awesome NSV!
-
It sounds like the difference is caused not by your scale, but by the place of weighing. Scales do not work well on thick rugs or carpets, it is best to use hard floors for weighing in on.

I do eat mine back. In theory because it keeps my net calories up to the level where I maintain a 500 calorie deficit daily, and thus won't lose more than 1lb per week. I am fairly close to my goal and do not want to lose faster. In practise it is also because if i have exercised I am generally hunngier and I enjoy the…

Congratulations! I love the feeling of clothes finally fitting :)
