Congratulations Gonnafixit! It is always good seeing your hard work pay off :)

wow futurehockeymom, that is a lot of exercise. La_nanita congratulations on getting in your 3 lots of exercise! every little counts, especially when you only have ten minutes to spare, but do it anyway. I managed to get in 65 minutes walking yesterday, but today has been less good. Going to go for a walk to the library…

I don't know about in the gym, but I always cringe when I see women in the swimming pool with their hair styled and their make up on. They look like pampered pooches trying not to get too wet in a pool of water!

Mine is only open to those I am friends with. I don't mind people being able to see it, but I would object to unsolicited 'advice'. I doubt it makes for an interesting read. I make a lot of things from scratch so it is quite hard to guess what the flour, egg, and olive oil in amongst the mass of vegetables actually make…

I have eaten according to the calculations on MFP for the last two and a bit months, and I have had exactly the rate of weight loss they predicted - so I do trust their calculations.

I'm not sure mine will change. I was a 30G (UK) before gaining weight, and although they become very tight I never got around to getting re-fitted for bras. Now that I have lost 10.5lbs they are starting to fit comfortably again (but probably because I stretched them). I'd love to have them shrink though, maybe when I get…

I am 5'4", I don't have kids (and I don't want them), and I am 26 (27 in october). My heighest weight was just on the right side of 11 stone. I started MFP at 146 lbs about 2.5 months ago, and according to the scale this morning I am 134.75lbs today.

Not in Glasgow anymore, but i lived there for 6 glorious years. I really miss it!

I am quite possibly guilty of over/underestimating quantities when I cannot measure them. Especially in a restaurant. I still lose weight at my target rate. However I sometimes don't eat everything on the plate - resulting in tiny portions being logged into my diary. Or i have a bite of my partners food and conscientiously…

Firstly, congratulations on weight loss to date, that is a brilliant achievement. The 1400 target that MFP gives you is a NET target. After subtracting your exercise from your calorie intake you should be around 1400. It sounds like you are only netting 700/800 calories a day, which many believe would leave your body…

I'm vegetarian and have been most of my life. I can't stand the taste of meat. I'm from the UK, and 5'4" tall.

A cup is a measure of volume, whereas a gram is a measure of mass. There isn't really a good guide to transition between the two because it will differ depending on the item, i.e. the internet tells me that 1 cup of almonds is 108g, but one cup of raisins is 165g. I would look up the nutritional value of blackberries per…

So I must admit that I haven't read the article the OP was posting in reference to. But one thing strikes me about the discussion so far. That is that the definitions of healthy eating and unhealthy eating are very subjective. For one person 'healthy' might mean cooking packaged meals but watching portion size instead of…

First day has gone very well. I visited a friend today and we went for a 6 mile walk around a country park. This is a much longer walk than i usually do, but I felt fine if a little stiff later on. Even with having sunday dinner at my mother's, I have managed to stay under my calories today. Hopefully I can keep this up!…

There is no harm in repeating good advice :) Thanks for posting this, it will help keep me motivated.

I've never taken part in a group before... Can someone tell me what is expected? Do you post in a group thread every day or week? Do you just post when you achieve the weekly goal, or at any time?
-
I like the goals you have set. They seem achievable :) I'm in.

Anything by Sheri S. Tepper, Ursula Le Guin, or Alexandre Dumas would be my favourites. Do you have a genre or style that you enjoy reading? I am quite a bit of a bookworm (I have 6 bookcases crammed full at home), but favour science fiction and fantasy.

my binges usually happen when I haven't planned a meal out. If i have a plan then at meal times I will go ahead and make food. If i forget to plan then I start to snack instead of eating a meal, and I will snack on everything, and then later have my missed meal as well! Meal plans are a must for me. If I was missing any…

My period pains are very severe for the first day or so. I have tried the pill and I have spoken to my doctor, but to no avail. I usually curl up and will myself into unconsciousness, with as many hot water bottles as i can find. If i have to work, then i will work through it. However everything else is put on hold. I…

I make a batch of banana muffins every week or two. I use this recipe: http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/36/delicious-banana-muffins.aspx Makes 12 muffins which freeze quite well, so can be taken out on the morning of the day you want to snack on them. I believe they work out at 202 calories a pop, so not as healthy as carrot…

I'm 5'4", and have the same goal weight, though my starting weight was higher, I am now down to 137, and look forward to losing the rest :)

We have homemade pizzas, topped with cheese and veggies. The recipe we used last time came from here: http://step-by-step-cook.co.uk/mains/pizza/?persons=2&units=Metric It can take a little longer to make your pizza from scratch so we sometimes make more than we need of the dough and the sauce, and then freeze them for…

My favourite one was used by one of my female friends. She bumped into her target outside a shop where she had bought bread and milk.... and invited them back to her to 'munh on her loaf'.

You know I never thought to check that! D'oh. The olives don't list the sodium content in the nutritional information, but salt is one of the ingredients. So i guess I have nothing to worry about :) Cheers.

Mine tend to be Freya or Panache bra's, and often bought from Bravissimo. Starting to get a little more choice now as more shops are starting to stock larger cup sizes, but i have a small back size so it is still difficult (i am a 30G in UK sizes).

I enter each ingedient into MFP, and then save it as a meal. Then I figure out how many portions are in the whole lot and take a percentage of the 'meal' based on portion size. The first time you have to measure everything out, but after that you have everything saved.
