  • I had been running before but I hurt my left food and it can't take the constant impact, so now I'm swimming instead. I'm trying to train up to being able to swim a mile. I'm currently at 25 laps (doing front crawl), and just need to do 10 more each time to get to a mile, and it feels doable. Phase 2 is doing it in under…
  • I appreciate all of the advice. I wish that I had more positive experiences with personal trainers, but the ones that I have worked with have been so insistent on doing things a certain way (and yes, they called it HIIT), and have talked down to me in such a condescending manner that it's been really discouraging. I belong…
  • Thanks for the advice! It's true- I do pretty much have the cardio down. Diet could always use help but it's not for lack of knowing what I should eat. Zeroing in on the strength training part is a great idea.
  • I started over post-injury (bicycle vs. car) and am now on W3D3. It feels so good to be able to run! Congratulations!
  • I lost 40 lbs, but then gained 15 back after a car accident. Hoping to lose that 15 lbs again and THEN get back to my original weight loss and lifestyle change goals. I would love to be able to help encourage others and keep focused!
  • I have a lot of good things to say about this program. I am just finishing up week 9 of the C25K program through Zen labs, and am tentatively moving on to the 10k program, though am currently battling shin splints. I used the Nike+ Running App (though I also like iRunner and Runtastic, and there are plenty of other GPS…
  • I use the gym too, but I try to focus on weights as opposed to cardio, or to work on building speed or endurance into my cardio as a goal, instead of just calories burned.
  • I am currently a size 14, and would like to get down to a 10, but when I was in 12s, I looked pretty good. I got lots of compliments anyway. I did a lot of gymnastics, softball, and other sports through the years though, so I have really muscular legs and thick thighs.
  • Not a vegetarian, but need to lose the 50 lbs!
  • Feel free to add me! I have 50 lbs to go.
  • I am very interested!
  • I have 50 lbs to lose and would love any friends on MFP who have similar goals.
  • Add me! I also have 50 lbs to lose, and need all the help I can get!
  • Well, if you feel comfortable, you could talk individually to some of your borderline supportive friends/family and tell them that you need their support- especially in situations where others are trying to unravel your goals of eating healthy. Or you could take the alternate route and talk to your least supportive friends…
  • I have the same problem as OP. I usually just enter a comparable item that has a higher caloric value compared to other comparable items so that I don't underestimate. Sometimes I enter the ingredients for a new recipe if I'm not having any luck. It stresses me out when I can't find an item!
  • Steamed Lentils.
  • I'm on Week 3, Day 3. Really enjoying it. The issue I'm having is that when I use the treadmill, I have a really consistent speed and stamina, but when running outside, I don't push myself nearly as hard, even though it's not intentional. I usually run/walk for an additional 15 minutes on the treadmill and get to the 5k…
  • Rode bike to and from work.
  • Depending on the exercise, I usually go with whatever the lowest amount of calories burned says, whether it's MFP, or the treadmill/elliptical, or Nike+, etc. I figure that if I did, in actuality, burn more calories than that, then that's a bonus, and if not, then at least I didn't eat too many calories and go over.
  • Just finished week 3, day 1. I have been alternating between using the treadmill and running outside. I went outside today, and also used Zombies, Run! to track distance.
  • I think it goes without saying that if you get the chips or drink or cookies then you know what you're doing. I was referring to hidden (perhaps unexpected is the better word here) calories of the sandwich itself.
  • Week 2, Day 2 done! And a new PR! I'm really enjoying this so far.
  • The impression I got that the OP was making was just that there are a lot of hidden calories, even in seemingly "healthier" options at restaurants, be they fast food or otherwise. I don't think it absolves us of the responsibility of making good health choices, but sometimes you think you're making a good choice and it…
  • Just find a gym that works best for you. I belong to Snap Fitness and I love it because there aren't a bunch of muscle heads in there, and there aren't people trying to sell me a bunch of supplements while I'm working out and it isn't ever crowded. I've heard that Planet Fitness is supposed to have a "no judgment"…
  • I use the Nike+ Run app OR the C25k app simultaneously, but neither uses GPS, so I'm not sure if running two GPS apps makes a difference or not. I don't love the Nike app since it never records the proper distance, but I still usually use that for calories burned. When I look at the run logs for Zombies, Run! It doesn't…
  • @ Tony, it's a running app that has a story line about post-Zombie Apocalypse, where a township is trying to survive and as one of the runners, you have to go outside the township to try to gather information and supplies.
  • I've only had one issue with Zombies, Run! so far on the GPS. I think sometimes the speed and distance is a bit choppy because of trees and other things, so if GPS is down for a moment, but then picks back up, then it doesn't give you credit for the time that it was down. I really only had that issue once, but it was still…
  • Sorry for posting twice back-to-back... I did Week 2, Day 1 yesterday. I've been alternating between doing it outside and doing it on the treadmill. I like pushing myself to go a little faster and regulate it on the treadmill (I'm up to 6 mph on the treadmill vs 5.2 mph outside for the running portion). I use two apps…
  • I'm tentatively planning on the Color Run as well. Trying to get a team together before the deadline. Maybe I'll see you there!
