I recieved a pair of Nano 4.0s for Christmas and I love them. I think the Metcons look sweet and I plan to buy a pair once they become available again.

I love this sentiment. Easier said than done but still worth thinking about. :D

Are minimalist shoes the ones that look like feet gloves? Those are super creepy looking.

I just learned yesterday that Nike is getting into the CrossFit shoe game with the Metcon 1s. They are hot like fire and already sold out. As soon as Rouge Fitness gets some in I will probably buy a pair even though I got a new pair of Nano 4s for Christmas.

Meetup is something I was going to suggest as well. :)

I have heard that serious Olympic lifters sometimes go a whole year without a PR. That tells me that a big part of lifting is patience.

I think that is a bit of false equivalency. Food is nearly always readily available, even in dire circumstances. You cannot say the same for illegal drugs. However, drugs can foster neurochemical reactions which are pleasurable. Food can do the same thing. So when you're addicted to drugs it is more accurate to say that…

Welcome Jordy! You have already received some great advice. Don't be afraid of any setbacks you may have in your journey.

Have your coaches given you any advice on improving your speed? When I first started I would often times go lighter, especially on long WODs because I wanted to stay moving the whole time and keep my heart rate up.

I would also like to give Paige a +1 but she isn't flexing in front a mirror so she obviously doesn't know what she's talking about.

The reason no one pays attention is because the victims of these terrible foods are usually poor and seen as disposable.

I did some rowing "sprints" yesterday for the first time. 250m x4. Finished each set in under a minute but it got tough and I was breathing hard when I was done.

A lot of great suggestions in this thread. Certainly sounds much better than any kind of prepackaged microwave meals. o:)

Close your Eyes by Run the Jewels is a good workout song.

I am in the same boat as you, seeing the numbers go up on the scale was a real mindf*ck and it honestly still is. I can't imagine that these feelings will ever go away so it must be managed like diabetes or some other lifelong medical condition. I recently went to a dietitian and has a body comp analysis done and it made…

It was my first time meeting with this dietitian. She did know about paleo/primal and was not opposed to it at all. Like me she thought the best thing about paleo was its elimination of processed foods. My cholesterol levels were higher after a year of paleo than they were before. Previously I was right in the middle of…

I tried to make paleo mayo once and that was enough for me. Now I just buy Sir Kensington's. ;)

At my gym you have to go all the way to the ground.

This. I didn't sign up last year but we ended up doing all the WODs at my gym anyway. I won't sign up this year but I anticipate that we'll do all the WODs at my gym again this year. I keep track of everything on myWOD so I can see how far I have come and how much better I am getting at everything. I don't give a crap how…

I'm sure there are people like that out there; I just have never run into them I am happy to say.

I get that. I am atheist and I have noticed that most women's profiles that I see say they are looking for a religious person but unless they specifically say "must be willing to go to church" then I contact them (if I find them attractive.) If they turn me down/don't respond then that's their choice. While religious…

Have they told you that or do you just assume that your height is the reason?

From my own experience and from what my female friends have told me; the experience for men on dating sites is WAY different than the experience for women. I have received a few odd emails but in general the women I have talked to have been pleasant. I did get a note last night that I felt was slightly controversial but it…

I would say that you should never worry about whether or not you scale a WOD. Only worry about doing your best. One of my coaches said once that most WODs are meant to be scaled by 90% of people. I don't know whether that is true or not and while I do RX many WODs if I don't think I can then I scale down without hesitation.

Last night we went for our 5 rep max on the back squat and I got up to 275 which is a new PR for me. I was pretty pleased.

It is easier to judge a good clean when looking from the side rather than straight on. It looks like you might have brought your hips up too early but again, it is hard to tell from that angle. Also, on your jerk was really more of a push press and your elbows could be higher.
