Potato chips. Unfortunately, I hate mustard. Can't stand the smell. I wish I liked it.

All nerd, no geek Sometimes my friends get scared when the NERD switch gets turned on, their eyes glaze over.....

I'm a Texan. I think it's a state law.

ahhhhh....sarcasm. You cannot bring any form of meats, soft cheeses, or dairy through customs. The food here is safe and clean, though more processed and in larger portions that what you will be used to purchasing at your home markets. You can go to the grocery store or farmers market and buy any kind of produce or raw…

did you have "banked" calories from the other days (where you ate less than your budget+exercise calories)? A deficit is a deficit, even if it it's not even from day to day, so if you had 50 calories extra for those 4 days, that could buy you an extra 200 calories today, and you're still within your goal deficit for the…

When I cook, I'll make extra and package it up to put in the freezer for quick prep lunches. If I make spaghetti, I'll make enough for dinner and then enough for 2-3 lunches, and in the morning while my coffee is brewing I'll boil the whole wheat noodles (I like the healthy harvest ones, but boil them a minute or 2 longer…

I like to get fajita nachos made with chicken. Skip the beans because they will use the full fat ones. Most places where I'm from put the nachos on tostada shells instead of chips, so it is easy to count how many you eat. You can ask them to go easy on the cheese, too. Often a friend and I will split an order because there…
while we're talking about the poisonous canola oil we should also bring up the equally dangerous dihydrogen monoxide. Both of them should be banned, clearly.
hahahaha!!!!!!

THIS=YES But otherwise, I have "trained" myself to eat foods to which I had a life-long aversion due to texture issues by just starting small, finding ONE way I could stand it and going from there. I say go with the hard-boiled on salad method, but instead of slicing the eggs mash them with a fork until they are tiny…

my normal hormone fluxuations cause nausea, and I usually feel sick in the mornings. It gets worse as TOM approaches (this happens on a monthly basis, so I know to expect it now). If a couple crackers or pretzels help, I say snack on them, just budget for them in your daily calories and change your mindset about it being…

After gaining back a little weight (about 10 pounds) after having lost over 100 lbs and suffering a stress fracture and torn muscle in my thigh that put me out of commission for about 3 months, in the middle of a staff meeting, my boss commented to another attendee (loud enough for all to hear) that "[she] was looking good…

routine is important. Right now you are in the routine of NOT working out. Just make yourself do it. Schedule it into your day and stick to it. Build up if you need to. What will end up happening is that you will miss it when you have to SKIP! It takes time to build routine into habit. Just keep at it.

I will tell you, there is not greater satisfaction than getting rid of all the clothes that were once too small but are now too big. Every time I go down a size (I started at a 22, I'm currently a 10), I buy one pair of the next size smaller as "incentive" jeans. I have seen so many of those come and go! I'm working on…

You should listen to your body. If you are zapped of all energy, grumpy, dizzy, just feeling blah, then eat more. If I don't eat my 1200 plus at least 1/2 of my exercise calories my scale will stop cold. But you are a tiny person, and I don't know how that affects how many calories you need at your basil metabolic rate…

Why does my ticker show KG? Because I had many false starts where I kept thinking about the numbers and would get discouraged. One day I decided I was going to get over the numbers, switched my scale and my ticker to KG, and haven't looked back since. Well...I now use a converter ever now and then to see the pounds. I had…

One package of the Mini M&Ms is only 70 calories, so you are looking (at MAX) at 2 calories for that little bitty piece. Cut yourself some slack and go get a real snack, please. Don't feel guilty about enjoying candy. I budget into day if I feel like eating it, and I've lost 115 pounds (my counter is in kilos, fyi).

Thank you! The success stories are my inspiration too, and every time I start feeling a little down and wondering if it's worth it, I spend a few minutes looking at the success stories. Such a wonderful forum topic.

Thank you! I started with the C25K program. It works! Just keep with it. When I finished it I moved on the Bridge to 10K.

Way to go! I did the C25K program. Started it in June and went through, repeating weeks as needed, until about September when I let being busy take over for a little while. A couple months later I started it again, breezed through, moved on to the Bridge to 10K, breezed through that one, and actually RAN my first 10K…

I have several purely friend-only male friends. I also have a few that are a little more complicated. I think it just depends on the people in question as to whether mixed-sex friendships can really be just friends.

we are our own worst critics. I don't think I look any different than I did 115 pounds ago...

I added resistance to my swimming workouts by using webbed gloves and vortex paddles. I've seen a definite improvement to the definition in my arms. But...I still needed to work in some more strength training, so I just added in 15 minutes daily, alternating days of upper body and lower body.

There are people with opinions on both sides of this issue. Basically, your goal calories has a deficit built in, so it's up to you if you want to eat back your exercise calories or not. For me, I found that if I do not eat at least half of my exercise calories back my scale stops cold...and that can get very frustrating…

I'm not on a diet. I'm on a budget.

That's why I have mine! My "just quit" voice always strikes at the beginning of my workout. It says "I don't think you can do this today." And then I always think to myself, yes, I can do this today. I always feel so much better when I get about 20 minutes into my run, and by the end of the hour (or longer), I feel…

next thing you know you'll be running for an hour without feeling like you're going to die! Congrats! Way to go!!!!!

I'm currently running a 5K at at 10.50 pace. That's pretty damn good IMO, especially considering I just finished the C25K program seven weeks ago and have moved on to the Bridge to 10K. My 10K time is 1:05 - 1:10 on average.
