Why weighing is important
I weight and measure all my food. If it's dry, it goes on the scale. If it's liquid, it goes in the measuring cup. But what about those times when dry products are portioned out by size, as in "one scoop"? Yep, I put it on the scale. Here's why: Take my protein powder as an example. Following the directions, I mix one…

Chicken Parmesan too easy and good to not share!!
I love yummy food. Period. I crave it. And chicken parmesan is one food I crave, but it's usually such a messy pain to make, and forget restaurants, you can eat like 3 bites if you want to stay within your calorie goal. But this version is super easy, uses only 2 pans, and takes about 15 minutes to make from start to…

my scale hates me
I'm yelling at myself right now....."GET OFF THE SCALE!!!!" because I've been on this journey a while, with a little detour for the past year or so, but I'm back on the right road now. I know I need to do weigh-ins about once a week. But the problem is my scale hates me. It won't budge. Some mornings (yes, I get on the…

Grieving and living.
Today is a rough day for me. It is the anniversary of the last 24 hours of my father's life, and though the grief councilors and others told us that anniversaries and birthdays would be hard, I didn't realize that feeling like being hit with a ton of bricks would still hit so hard years later. My father was a fit and…

question about Yogurt serving size.
This may be a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway. I bought single serving-size Oikos yogurt, and it says 5.3 oz on the container. Since yogurt is liquidish, I assumed that was size by volume (8oz = 1 c.). I was going to split a cup into 2 servings because I intended to use it as a dip for my afternoon snack (apple…

Happy MFP One Year Anniversary to me!
One year ago today I joined MFP. I celebrated by running my first 10K. It was awesome. Wow, what a difference a year makes. When I started this journey, I was overwhelmed by how far I had to go. So, to lessen the emotional ties that I had to the numbers my scale, I changed both my scale and the MFP settings to metric.…

off to find something...
to hold my pants up! The jeans that three months ago were my "motivation" jeans are now two sizes too big and the simple act of putting my phone in my pocket threatens to pants me...so, I'm off to find some string or something for a belt to keep the things up!

Food Network
I just want to thank Food Network for reinforcing and encouraging my new lifestyle choices. I was watching Good Eats (I like Alton, he makes trips to the water treatment plant interesting) and didn't change the chanel when it was over. The next show on was Unwrapped. I was watching them make Monster Goo, and I will never…

Happy 2-Month MFP Anniversary to Me!
I joined two months ago today, and as of this morning have lost 30 pounds! And that's after a week-long business trip and a two-week vacation in Ireland. I still have a long way to go, but am closer now than I have been in years. Today I am celebrating the small steps with a bike ride through the park :flowerforyou:
