I'm 50 and I know its harder but its still possible. I have a dear friend who is 59 and over the last 2 years, she lost 100 lbs. Every time I think I can't lose, I think of her. It took her a while but slowly and steadily, she got there and walked her first 10K last Fall.

Feel free to add me too. We are close in age and I too exercise heavily, strength train and track those calories daily. We can support each other. Its harder to lose at this stage of life but its not impossible if you want it bad enough!

The scale is a tool.......not a test. I usually weigh 2 times a week just to see if I am showing any progress and if not, adjust exercise or food intake accordingly. However, I only record my weight loss one day a week because daily scale flucuations can drive a person crazy. The scale can rule your life and mess with your…

I flucuate it. There are days when I have a bigger bkfast and other days when dinner is the big meal of the day. I have noticed though that if I eat my dinner as early in the evening as possible, I sleep much better. Let me have a big dinner late, then go to bed.....I'm gonna have all kinds of awful dreams. Empty stomach…

Glad I found this. I feel a plateau coming on and I'm one of those workout like a maniac and stay exactly within my calorie allotment. Gonna see if I can head off that plateau. Adding some PNB and almonds right now!!!

MY moment was coming home from a trip with 4 other girls I met on a weight watchers website 6 years ago. We had become good friends and talked for six years but never met face to face. We were from all over the country. Then we finally decided it was time to meet. We did for a long weekend......had a blast.....ate crap…

I ran into this problem being soooooo tired once when I had taken up running. I had gotten up to 3 miles a day but after a couple of weeks I seemed soooo fatiqued. A nurse friend suggested I start drinking some of those drinks with electrolytes in them. The only think I ever drank was plain water. So I bought some PowerAde…

I did WW for six years. Lost the weight. Matter of fact, I got to goal. Got to goal 4 times!!!!!! Never stayed there. Always gained it back cause I couldn't seem to grasp maintenance. The last two years of half heartedly doing WW, I managed to gain back all that I had originally lost. I did not like the new program. When…

When I'm cooking my oatmeal, I put in a few frozen dark red cherries (so sugar added, they are sweet enough naturally) and a Tbsp of chopped walnuts and add a little brown sugar splenda. I also cook my oatmeal with water instead of milk but right before I eat it, I add a tiny bit of half and half. Its less calories than…

Frank, I'll add you as a friend! I am a total "foodie" myself. Love to cook, love to eat. Matter of fact, the highlight of my day would be going out to dinner. Every event in my life revolved around food. Couldn't have a good time without food. Lots of really good, really fattening food. I still love food! But like being…

It doesn't get any easier at 50 either!!!! But its not impossible. It takes more cardio workouts, more tracking your food intake and definetely DEFINETELY strength training to get that metabolism moving again!! After fighting this tendancy (after the age of 40) to gain weight around my MIDDLE despite the fact that I worked…

I'll have to join the ranks of No speedos please. First of all, I think things left to the imagination are much more inticing. I don't care how well built or (not so well built) you are. Speedos do one of two things for me: 1) Make me laugh 2) Make me hurl Just my humble opinion

I go to the gym 3 days a week and only to do nautilus and weights. I typicall workout there for about 35-45 minutes. But every morning I fast walk outdoors for 30 minutes with my hubby. Then after he goes to work, I either go get the neighbor's dog and go for a 45 minute run 5 days a week or I ride my recumbent bike. One…

I think if you are suffering from low energy, your body isn't get enough fuel so eating 1/2 of those exercise calories is a good start. I myself eat just about every exercise calorie I burn and still seem to be losing.

I get up at 5:00am each day and walk the golf course with my husband. I do this because its really the only time he has to exercise and that's before work. After he leaves, then I hit the pavement or the gym for a harder workout for myself. Its this way for me......if it doesn't happen in the mornings.......it doesn't…

Poporn can be jazzed up with a lot of flavors. My favorites to put on popcorn are: Parmesan cheese, garlic salt and paprika For a sweet/salty taste, cinnamon and splenda. And for a special snack, I love Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Bars Almond. (A wonderful blend of sweet and salty deliciousness.)

If you can't cut way back on the salty foods (and I sure understand that since salt is my guilty pleasure), ask your Doctor/Gyno to prescribe a mild diuretic but don't take one every day! Just when you are really bloated. I also heard that extra potassium (bananas, yogurt, blueberries) helps flush it too. I recently read a…

SOOOO right! I am so over Facebook! Who wants to read status updates about how much someone is enjoying their morning coffee??!! This site is motivating and encouraging and yes......addictive.

I'm 50 and yes it DOES get harder to lose as we get older, but it is not impossible. I joined MFP 2 weeks ago and I've lost 8 lbs already. But, I also exercise a lot. Now, I've done WW and all the other programs since I was 19 years old but I have found that even when I eat right---- if I dont' exercise, I basically just…
