  • I'm at the end of week 2! I'm do this and the one hundred push ups.
  • I was watching The Biggest Loser last night and at one point they had to guess how many calories were in a slice of lasagna and both contestants grossly overjudged the amount of calories...and I nailed it nearly dead on. I feel like I know a lot about diet, not so much about exercise but I'm learning quickly. I constantly…
  • I weighed everything at first, and now I can judge by feeling how much I'm getting. For instance, a cup of shredded chicken weighs about 4 oz if you don't pack it down. By shredding the chicken and weighing it, I know the chicken breasts I usually buy are about 4 oz each. Half a handful of shredded cheese is 1/4 cup, and a…
  • :I can't explain how I know where I'm measuring, I just do. lol. My waist is easy, I measure the part that usually has red marks from my jeans digging in. That's a really good question, though.
  • It doesn't hurt to 'save' calories, but be careful with it since I've noticed in my own experience that if I don't eat or skip meals in preparation for a splurge meal, I tend to overeat and do more damage than had I had a light meal or eaten normally. Remember that you aren't going to necessarily gain weight from a slice…
  • I measured myself at the beginning--I track arms, waist, hips, chest and bust, neck, thighs, calves and BMI. I update everything except BMI every 2 weeks and I update my BMI every time I lose weight.
  • I have the same fears for my daughters (ages 7, 7, and almost-5). When I was 9 years old, I asked my mom if I was fat and she told me that I was. She cried and told me it was really hard to answer that truthfully, but we'd 'work on it together'. Looking back at my pictures, I was nowhere near fat. I was very muscular from…
  • I would think so. I know I burn the same amount of calories jogging in place for 20 minutes as I do on a jogging outdoors in the heat. I try to mix it up with punches and whatnot, but it's a great way to get a workout in while enjoying TV. I, too, am having trouble finding time to exercise outdoors when it's dark shortly…
  • The reason I asked: I typically try to do a 30-45 minute DVD plus a 30 minute bike ride and a 30-60 minute walk with 20 minutes of calasthenics (which I can't spell, haha) every day. I was telling my coworkers that they're opening a gym by my house and I'm excited because then I can walk/bike there and add in another 30-60…
  • I've also found that I feel sick/sluggish/blah when I haven't eaten enough...it's not always instantaneous, but after 3 or 4 days of eating below my cals and not eating any exercise cals I start feeling just off. Not sick, persay, but not normal. A good meal usually helps!
  • I don't know...I only have sex once a month, and I work pretty hard to keep him out of my pants, so it's probably exercise. Seriously, though...I don't log grocery shopping, I do shop for an hour and a half and load and unload tons of stuff once a week though, it's not like it's an 'every day' activity. I do log,…
  • I agree with continuing this through November. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get in all 100--but I rented one of those 'walk away the pounds' DVDs from the library so I'll get an extra 5 miles per day in on top of my outdoor activities so I should make it!
  • My ipod touch. I can barely function without it!
  • I personally wouldn't worry about eating them unless you're burning a lot of calories (500+) through exercise. I exercise at night too, and I've tried to have a bigger meal or an extra snack in anticipation of exercise, but sometimes I wouldn't complete all of the exercise I had scheduled and then I'd wind up in the red.…
  • I am totally dragging. Even when I consider why I'm doing this and how much I've achieved in the last month and a half, I still just feel "blah" about it all. Maybe it's the changing of the seasons or something, idk. I hope my motivation comes back soon, I need a good kick in the rear to get back on track. At least I'm…
  • Monday was not so good for me--I stayed within my calories and drank all of my water, but I flaked out after only 10 minutes of exercise, which really is bad because Monday is my heavy exercise day. I caught my son's cold and I just feel blah and not in the mood to do anything. Today will be better!
  • I used to *hate* exercise. Seriously, I'd love to just sit around and watch TV or play online. It only took 2 weeks of exercising regularly for me to fall in love with it and now I *need* to get some sort of exercise in daily. I enjoyed the C25K, it was challenging for me and I am motivated through wanting to prove I can…
  • People will tell you that the chest strap monitors are the most accurate, but they can be pricey. I have a chest strap one that I absolutely hate because it keeps losing my darn heart beat when I run. I also have a watch one, where you press a button to measure your heart rate--but you have to measure it often to be…
  • You look FANTASTIC!
  • Baby carrots, mini cucumbers, apple slices in the pre-measured bags, peanut butter and wheat crackers, popcorn, 100-calorie snack packs of whatever it is that you like, pretzels, goldfish crackers. If you eat just one serving, you'll be fine with calories. Also popsicles, pudding pops, sugar free pudding and jello.
  • I'm starting week 2 today. I spent a good month on week 1. :frown: I still have a really hard time jogging for all of the intervals, but I'm hoping if I just push through it'll get easier.
  • It's probably water retention--did you eat anything high sodium? Did you drink enough water? It's impossible to gain 2 pounds from only eating over a few hundred calories!
  • Me too! It's shocking how many calories are in some of my favorite foods, this way I'm not surprised.
  • I'm not in maintenance mode yet, but I think by the time I reach that point, I will know what my limitations are and not need to track my food anymore. Even now, after only 6 weeks of counting, I can remember the calorie content of most of the food I eat and keep a running total in my mind. As long as you aren't gaining…
  • I'm not trying to be catty, I seriously want to know the answer to this.... If you're going to have to eat small meals, cut out carbs, fizzy drinks, sugar, etc. and whatnot after having WLS, why don't you just do all of that before WLS and see if you lose the weight on your own anyway? My cousin had WLS and she went from…
  • I'd love to join!!! I'm currently 257 pounds, so my goal will be 227 by Christmas.
  • I haven't changed what I eat, just how much. I usually go a bit over on calories--25-50, so I exercise to negate that and give a bit of a surplus. I think the absoltue biggest change I have made is not eating French fries every day (now when I crave them, I bake them). I cut out one soda per day and I don't keep them in…
  • I don't know...I don't think I'd consider 200+ a good goal weight for any body type except maybe someone in a body builder position or something, but I do get the whole 'looking good above the suggest weight' thing. When I was 160, I looked like I was in the 130s-140s because of the way I carry my weight. I'm currently…
  • I haven't tried PB2 yet--I can't find anywhere locally that sells it and I haven't ordered it online yet. I get the Jiff 'to go' peanut butter and it's in premeasured servings of around 195 calories. I love pb with apples, and it's just enough. I just budget for it in my calories. Ironically, I didn't even like PB until I…
