225 calories in 15 minutes?!
I am using a HR monitor watch when I exercise and it told me that after bicycling for 15 minutes today, I burned 225 calories. I was consistently at 70-70% of my resting heart rate and I'm a 269 pound female. Does that sound accurate?

Any new moms?
I had my fourth child nearly 2 weeks ago (Aug. 9th) and while I was pregnant, I was able to eat whatever I wanted and lose weight--I lost 13 pounds from the time I learned I was pregnant until delivery, and then another 13 after my son was born. I'm really eager to get back into a fitness/diet routine and I could use some…

Fertility Medications and Weight Gain
Hello! I'm on my 4th day of taking Clomid for the first time and I've noticed an 8 pound increase in the scale this week! Yikes!! I've been eating the same as usual, the only day I went over on my calories it was only over by 200, and I have a 1000/day deficit. I'm drinking enough water, under my sodium goal, etc. I've…

How active am I?
I'm at a loss. I've have my activity level set to 'sedentary', since I have a desk job, but I find when I eat 1200 calories, I stop losing weight. I seem to do best with 1350-1550 calories per week, for some reason. I'm wondering if I'm setting my activity level right--it would stand to reason that if I'm not as inactive…

1/4 of the way there!
I started focusing on my weight on September 1st of this year, and so far I have lost 22.4 of the 107 pounds I need to lose. I have gone from 272 to 249.6. I am posting some before and after pics, just to celebrate my mini-accomplishment and to motivate me to continue moving forward instead of reverting back to past…

Pasta question
I'm estimating how much I'm going to be eating tonight at dinner, and I have no idea how pasta converts to portion sizes I can easily use. For example, how many oz of pasta (spaghetti) would a cup be? I'm going to cook the whole box for the whole family, but I was planning to just pull out 3/4 or 1 cup for myself, but I…

Cheesecake Recipes
I was wondering if anyone had a good, easy cheesecake recipe they could share. I am planning to sub fat-free cream cheese for regular cream cheese and truvia for sugar in any recipe. I absolutely love cheesecake and I really miss it since I've been counting calories.

How much is too much?
My coworkers and I were talking about exercise today, and the subject of 'too much' exercise came up. Do you guys think there is such a thing? If so, how much do you think is 'too much'?

Setting activity levels
Over the last 6 weeks I've adopted an exercise routine that I follow 7 days per week. It consists of alternating sit ups, push ups and jogging in place a minute each for 30 minutes during lunch, then in the evenings I do intervals of walking/jogging for 30-45 minutes, as well as 20-30 minutes of riding my bike. I've…

Losing everywhere but...
I'm down 11 pounds so far and I can see a difference in my lower belly, my thighs, my waist...but it seems like the part of my belly right above my waist isn't losing at all--in fact, it feels jigglier than before. Are there any types of exercises or something I can do to firm this up or try to lose some inches here?

Proper way to run?
I'm working on the C25K and I have a few running questions... I have flat feet and there is always a pulling feeling in the arch area after I'm finished. Normal? Is there a special sort of shoe I need to buy? I don't know how my feet are supposed to go when I run...I've noticed they sort of just hit the ground flat instead…

Better shape or faulty HRM?
I've been riding my bike every day for the last 5 weeks, and when I first began (coming from 'couch potato' status) I was burning 225 calories in 15 minutes when I pushed myself as hard as possible, according to my HRM. 5 weeks later, I'm only burning 175 for 15 minutes, according to the HRM. Before, MFP estimates were…

Water jogging
Talk to me about water jogging! Do you just run in the pool? Any special equipment needed? I've found myself in the position of having a pool readily available for my fitness needs, but no idea of what to do in it for exercise besides swimming laps.

Is my HRM waterproof?
I have a Sportsline S7 and I was wondering if anyone else has this one and if anyone knows if it is waterproof?

Bra question for girls...
When I jump rope and do jumping jacks I feel like I'm going to get a black eye from 'the girls'. I've tried doubling and even tripling my bra to hold them down, but they still bounce quite a bit and it *hurts*! 4 pregnancies and breastfeeding have done a number to them and right now I'm in a (insert super huge number)DDD…

Recovering Couch Potato Support Group
I'm learning to change my habits and giving up my favorite activity -- sitting around in my recliner and watching TV/playing online. Who's with me? I've set myself an activity goal for every day this week, and here's what's left: Thursday: 30 minute bike ride, 20 minute DVD Friday: 7 laps around track walking/jogging, 20…

Tips??
I'm not new to the dieting part of life, but I am relatively new to exercise in general (besides 'no brainer' things like bike riding and walking). I am a recovering couch potato--literally, I get up at 7 am, get the kids ready for school and daycare and out the door at 7:35, drop them off, drive to work, sit at my desk…

Cold and lightheaded??
I have been calorie counting for 3 weeks now and I have been feeling very, very sleepy (I almost fall asleep every time I sit down) and very cold--- to the touch and shivering nonstop even in a hot bath. I also have a headache in the middleof my forehead and feel slightly lightheaded, like my brain is sloshing around my…

Cycling question
I've been riding my bike for exercise around the neighborhood for the last few weeks and I've got some questions on speed. I don't have a mountain bike, I have a single speed bike that I use. I have a HRM that tells me how many calories I burn, and I'm burning enough to be in the '10-12.9 mph' category on MFP's exercise…

Frustrated with myself.
I weighed myself Friday and then again this morning and I've gained exactly 1 pound. I had been losing about .3 of a pound every day since beginning, and I am so disappointed to see the scale rise--I thought for sure I would have lost *something* over the weekend. I consumed more calories than usual on Saturday, but I was…

Doctors?
Nearly every diet/exercise plan I've stumbled across online says that it's best to check with your doctor before beginning a weight loss plan. What kind of doctor do you see for that, though? A general practitioner, a nutritionist?? Just curious. :)

Falling off the wagon
I had been doing pretty well with my weight...not losing as much as I should (although not exercising, so not surprised) but not gaining any. Then I stepped on the scale after going about two weeks without, and I've gained 7 pounds back that I had lost earlier this year. Ouch! I'm so mad at myself!!! I feel like I'm…

Which is right?
I have HRM watch and while biking I check it pretty regularly, and it says that in a 10 minute ride I am burning 105 calories. I know I am only going about 8mph, but I'm pretty out of shape and it's taxing on me, especially with wind resistance. When I use the exercise tab here, it shows that I would have to be riding…

New Here!
I joined the website yesterday---I'm in need of losing serious poundage! I'm a mom of 3, 26 years old, and I weigh in at a staggering 263 pounds. I have been big my whole life, but I crossed the 200 threshold and kept going when I got pregnant with my first child, then I only got bigger with the other two. I have very low…
