Frustrated with myself.

I weighed myself Friday and then again this morning and I've gained exactly 1 pound. I had been losing about .3 of a pound every day since beginning, and I am so disappointed to see the scale rise--I thought for sure I would have lost *something* over the weekend. I consumed more calories than usual on Saturday, but I was also on my feet all day (we took the kids to the zoo and park, and my HRM showed I burned over 900 calories during the day) and I had 630 exercise calories that I didn't eat back. Then yesterday I ate within my normal calorie range and I had about 600 calories left over from exercise (I normally have 250-300, but I started 30 Day Shred and that boosted my exercise calories). So theoretically from exercise alone I should have lost about half a pound!
This is what my intake and output look like:
Saturday:
Starting Calorie goal: 1400
Exercise: 999
Total allowed for the day: 2399
Consumed: 1760
Difference: 638
Sunday:
Starting calorie goal: 1400
Exercise: 719
Total allowed: 2119
Consumed: 1489
Difference: 630
Saturday I did eat more junk than I normally would--we went to a BBQ place for lunch, had a cookie at the mall, etc. But Sunday I ate just like I normally would when I was losing. What am I doing wrong?!?!

Theoretically, yes, you're right. But, you're body isn't perfect; you can't expect to calculate a .5 pound deficit and lose exactly .5 pounds. I learned this the hard way. I wouldn't fret over the 1 pound gain. You need to start weighing in only once a week. It's normal for weight to fluctuate throughout the week. (Sodium retaining water, bowel movements, etc.) If you weigh-in once a week on the same day at the same time, you'll get a better picture of how much you've really lost.0

The increase could be water retention due to an increase in physical activity. You muscles hold water to help prepare.
That being said you should have a minimum of 1200 net calories and on
Saturday your net calories were only 761 (1760-999)
Sunday your net calories were only 770 (1489 - 719)
You are not eating enough. If you goal is 1400 you should be eating close to that plus your exercise calories or at least most of them, so you are not below 1200 Net.0 -
Just hang in there. Keep doing what you know is right. Don't give up and don't let the scales control you. If you are honest with yourself and stay on track, you will continue to lose weight.
Don't panic and get away from those scales...0 -
Dont be frustrated, On my page in my blogs, i wrote about plateaus and some things to do in order to get out of a plateau. I am set at about the same calorie intake as you and like you i dont usually eat that many, some days I dont even have 900 calories and at some point i just stopped losing and then gained a pound. Your body adjusts to changes and then it will stop losing and start storing. You have to get out of the funk. I tried my plateau plan for one week and even when i wasnt eating right i still lost one pound. This week Im back on track and I am positive that I will lose more. I see that some people are saying you are not eating enough and thats not neccessarily true. I am dieting under a doctors supervision and the key is to fluctuate your calories daily while keeping the same caloric intake during the week. If you have a sec to see my blog, check it out and I think it will help you!
good luck!0 -
