  • I was in your shoes this morning. I have been working really hard and I lost a grand total of .2 lb over the last week. As a matter of fact, it's the exact same weight I had after eating dinner last night, which makes me ao frustrated because I just knew for sure I'd have lost at least a pound this week. But after my pity…
  • Your muscles naturally retain water when you exercise, which could be why you aren't losing as much. Excercise is good, though! You want that. Exercise helps you lose inches faster, too. I do a lot of walking and bike riding and my thighs are shrinking quickly, so I know I'm doing something good even if the scale doesn't…
  • I totally do this! I've also found when I'm really pushing myself at the end of C25K to keep running if I jog in place I can finish it easier--even outdoors. Whatever works!!
  • Awesome--where did you get the DVD? I am so over bubbly people on workout DVDs!
  • A HRM will monitor your heart rate and will track your calories burned through exercise by your heart rate. It's much more accurate than MFP's estimate of calories burned and gym machines' estimates. And you don't have to spend a fortune--I got mine for $30 from Wal-Mart.
  • If I were you, I'd throw in a protein drink somewhere in the mix--it'll give you some more calories and it'll be a good boost for exercising.
  • I read an article on the Jillian Michaels website that said that as long as you're eating your 1200+ cals, any and all exercise you do is "bonus" weight loss, so I would assume (not an expert by any means!) that if you're upping your exercise and not eating back the calories you can lose more than the 2 lbs from calorie…
  • I feed a family of 7 on a budget of $500 per month. It can be tricky, but it is possible! We buy the bags of frozen chicken parts (each are between 6-8 dollars) and I buy a lot of fresh veggies and fruits, it's low cost per pound. When you see something is on sale, buy a bit extra and freeze it--I stock up on chicken…
  • I love the 30 Day Shred! I also like the 10-minute-solutions videos.
  • I look for other things. I own a shirt in a size smaller than I wear and try it on occasionally. I take measurements and I re-measure when the scale isn't moving. I remember where I came from and where I am now. A year ago, I couldn't walk around the zoo without taking MANY breaks. Yesterday I did it all and carried my 35…
  • Monday: Chicken quesadillas: 1 tortilla, .3 cup of shredded mozerella, 4 oz of shredded chicken breast. Tuesday: Scrambled egg sandwiches Wednesday: Pizzadillas: 1 tortilla, 7 pepperonis, .3 cup of mozerella cheese dipped in pizza sauce Thursday: Grilled hamburgers, no buns, and baked fries or a baked potato. Friday: Salad…
  • Good advice! I'm sorry for your loss.
  • Start small! Have you ever heard of the hundred pushups and 200 sit up challenges? ( onehundredpushups.com )--you can start slow and build up from there. The more you work at it, the easier it'll get. Do some easier things to start--lay on the ground and lift one leg and lower it 5 times, then the other, and build up from…
  • It's so frustrating when people go out of their way to sabatoge your hard work! I don't think it was a jealousy thing...at least, not intentionally. Good for you for not ordering something huge!
  • I really liked my sandisk one--it worked great and it was user friendly. I replaced it with a iPod Touch (which I don't know how I ever lived without!) but as far as music goes, I prefered my Sandisk player to the actual music functions of the iPod Touch (but I do love the apps!)
  • Dancing--I dance with the kids several days a week and I burn about 100 calories every 10 minutes if I'm not stopping and jumping around a lot. Riding my bike--I push as hard as I can and I burn about 200 cals in 15 minutes. Walking/Jogging--I jog as far as I can, then walk until my HR starts to drop, then jog some more…
  • I don't count a lot of things I do like cleaning and whatnot--it comes with the territory of having kids!, but I spend the majority of my time on my butt anyway in front of a computer screen, sitting with the kids and helping with homework, rocking a baby to sleep. Aside from straightening up, cooking dinner and vacuuming…
  • I'd consider that lightly active. Mostly because it's not work I'd consider 'active' work like construction or something of that sort. As for taking care of kids, I read once that a lot of moms overjudge their activity levels but they're not as active at home as they think they are. I'm not sure I agree with that, but…
  • Have you tried changing up exercise? I don't cut out certain foods, just eat in moderation and I'm steadily losing. It's hard when you hit that plateau!!
  • I had to change my goals from 2 lb per week to 1.5 because I was dying on 1300 calories. On a good day, I'll stay under my 1600 goal and on a normal day I have to get in exercise to make up for my overages!!
  • 4.5 miles today! I didn't realize how many miles I usually go, I'm surprised!
  • Fantastic job!! I make my husband do an inventory of which bones he can feel, haha. I always have had a huge indentation on my waist with a bunch of topfat and it is finally starting to shrink!
  • Darn, it doesn't say it is... I am trying to get an accurate estimate for water aerobics tomorrow. Maybe I'll record my heart rate manually and do the math. Time to find a higher end device!
  • What did you eat when you went over your calories? 3500 calories make a pound, so if you went over 400 cals you didn't gain any weight. Its probably water retention--did you go over in sodium?
  • 6 miles today, but I can't update my icker from my iPod, I'll do that tonight!! 10 total already, I may have to up my monthly allottment.
  • Woo hoo, I got another 2 in!!
  • 2 miles so far today-- Less than ideal since I had my daughter with me and I couldn't go fast. When she leaves for her sleepover I am going to try to get more in!!
  • I always listen to Eminem while exercising-- he keeps a good beat and you can feel the passion in his songs. Good for you for your perseverence and persistence!!!
