I am a teacher in a classroom of 4 and 5 year olds. Here in California it's called PreKindergarten. My class has a mandatory 2 hour napping period every day. While the kids don't have to sleep, they do have to lay quietly and look at a book or whisper a song to themselves. That said, everyone falls asleep every day except…

WOW! Look at you! Your hard work is paying off.

I did a month of Insanity before getting my gym membership back. (Nothing against Insanity, I just don't think I'm a home-workout person.) I always used a heart rate monitor and never burned the 600-900 calories. :ohwell: The most I burned once was 575. I would wait till you get your HRM to start upping your calories a…

stopping to buy cream cheese on my way home tonight! thanks!

I was really anemic for years and iron supplements, dark greens, etc weren't helping. I was even eating my iron alongside calcium (milk) and not vitamin C (OJ) because I heard C inhibits absorption. Finally a doctor tested me for celiac disease and it was positive. When I eat wheat, rye, or barley, my body reacts and my…

Two yummy things my boyfriend requests all of the time. Chicken Tacos Sans Tortillas (or do tortillas if you prefer; we're low carb.) (This one he said he will eat 7 days a week.) Sauteed chicken, onion, frozen corn, bell pepper,1/2 "taco seasoning" spice packet, green onions. Take it off the stove, stir in 1/2 a bushel of…

That moment when you realize that your desired dessert is a piece of fruit and not ice cream.

That moment when you realize that you increased your tension every time the instructor told you to in spin class, and kept with the pace the whole class with no breaks!

I can't eat bread, so to get my healthful crunch/sweet/creamy fix, I spread a tablespoon of jam on a rice cake and then spread out a huge dollop of plain Fage Greek Yogurt. I eat all types of plain yogurt, but I get a giant 32 oz Fage at Costco for $4.99, so that's a great deal IMHO.

Haha!

These Garden Lite souffles are at my Costco right now, too. $12 for a 6 pack. They are yummy and healthy and really convenient but nothing special if you can cook it yourself from scratch.

I am taking the Whole Foods brand Food Derived Multi. I like it! Get a cookie at their coffee bar called an almond horn! YUMMY! Or a monster cookie. Their bulk bins are amazing for sugars, rice, beans, oatmeal, spices and herbs, nuts, and interesting flours. I eat gluten free and buy their coconut, peanut, almond, quinoa,…

I took a few classes in Portland Oregon and loved it! I had never been a dancer and get confused with choreography, but the Nia class was so fun and creative! I've moved a few times since and always look for Nia classes. Hope you like it!

How are you tracking your sodium? Looking at your diary I see calories/fat/protein/carb....... no sodium. I would suggest subbing out much of the processed stuff for lean meats, and veggies, brown rice, and fats from avocado, nuts, peanut butter, etc. Do you have a way to bring food with you to work? Or wherever you are in…

Ahh, I think you already know a lot about GF flours, so I think my only suggestion might be something light and more starchy, if they are delicate flatbreads. I might try a blend of brown rice flour, coconut flour, and maybe some quinoa flour? I think garbanzo flour and almond would be too flavorful/dense for a light…

Right?!?!?!? This can be sooooo overwhelming sometimes!

you're a hottie!!!! The best part is I can SEE your confidence!

Look at the veggies that are on sale in your town and get them. Or get the veggies on sale at the farmer's market. Many veggies are not meant to be eaten all year round, and the are grown out of season but just for convenience's sake. The foods IN SEASON will taste best! Right now, in the US, root veggies and…

Broccoli + garlic In a pan on medium high, pour a teaspoon of oil. (I use coconut.) Turn it around to coat the pan. But the broccoli in the pan and stir like crazy. You want the broccoli to sizzle and steam quickly. You want the stove hot enough so that the moisture from the broccoli does NOT bubble in the pan. You want it…

Somewhere sometime I read that hunger is often mistaken THIRST. So I try and drink water and wait a few minutes to see what happens. I just started knitting, and despite the teasing from my boyfriend, it helps me not snack since I'd get the yarn dirty. We buy edamame packs and I pop one in the microwave for 3 minutes when…

I really wanted to write naive but didn't want to be a b!tch. You probably over-share on facebook, too, and love this kind of attention. (BTW- Hope you're not using those guns on any animals.)

I think the point is that YOU should not judge. It's okay, though, I just saw your profile and see that you're young and innocent. Save a copy of this thread to read again in a few years. You'll have a good laugh.

Sorry, but if you're doing this because of animals' feelings, you should eat MORE honey, as the bees are probably overjoyed that you enjoy their regurgitated nectar! Build their self-esteem though honey consumption. Plus, bears and other honey-loving animals will celebrate how similar you are, since food is something you…

yeah I totally see a difference! your face is slimmed down, your smile is beautiful, and I love your hair"!!!!! funny about your boyfriend; mine is the SAME way!

egg whites alone will not bulk you up. no one food can do that for you. are your eating at a deficit or excess for your total calories? are you lifting heavy things? what are your goals?

Blended cashews make cream bases for soups/sauces. Mimicream is a processed cashew blend you can buy. Daiya cheese is good and vegan/gluten free. It even "melts." Amy's brand even uses it in her dairy free gluten free mac and cheese. On a side note, a lot of people who can't do dairy really can't do carageenan and other…

No water in the coffee pot, wait 10 minutes for it to brew, FAIL! I've done the cumin/cinnamon mix-up to! Refilled the Brita and immediately tried to pour a glass of water; water ALL OVER the counter! Pre- MFP: Ben and Jerry's in the fridge not freezer.

My chef-crush Alton Brown says to peel and steam them: quicker than baking and retains most of the flavor (compared to boiling them IN the water.) It's pretty quick too; once the water boils, they're done in 15 minutes. I then put a dash of coconut oil on them and sprinkle some cinnamon. My boyfriend likes butter and salt…

I would focus on eating things that are NATURALLY gluten free. Like iLookTheType said, stick to veggies, meat, dairy...... leave out the processed junk. There are LOTS of things that don't have gluten in them: rice potatoes every single raw vegetable beans every single raw fruit cottage cheese yogurt cheese brown rice…
