  • learn physical theraphy exercises to strenthen the muscles around your knee. Depending on your discomfort level and your health insurance / physical theraphy co-pay/ budget situation consider asking your doc to send you to pt so that you can learn what exercises are appropriate for you. If you can't do pt, then google pt…
  • Your neck is not invited to this party. Try focusing on looking straight up at the ceiling. That helped me, I had a sore neck after the first few days of L1. Oh, and take drugs - ibuprofen helps a lot for me with my 30 DS aches and pains, think I'll go get some now.

  • Did Day 4 last night, finished at 10pm, did Day 5 this morning, finished at 7am and I upped my weights to 4lbs. So, I am happy I am back on track, although my arms feel weighted down today. My eating has been lousy this week, stressful, busy week with my son's bday in the middle (yummy rice krispie bombs and cupcakes). I…
  • jenbreeze72 and/or fitnewlife: I'd love to have an accountability buddy; send me a friend request. I have something in common with both of you. My name is Jackie, I'm from Syracuse, NY, age 42, married and I have a son, who is turning 7 tomorrow. I have been working on and off on the 30DS since summer. My crazy life has…
  • maybe you need to eat more protein during the day so you aren't so hungry at night. Also, it helps me to do some light exercises at nite.
  • Hi, congrats for getting back at it. Two weeks away is not a failure, just an intermission that makes you appreciate what you can achieve with lifestyle adjustments. A several months long plateau, followed by my own vacation induced intermission and accompanying weight gain caused me to look at my eating critically. Here's…
  • When my son was in that age range me basically didn't eat meat, well except for the finest cuts, like bacon, sausage and chicken nuggets. We did get him to eat edamame beans, which we buy shelled and frozen and heat up and slather with butter and pepper. They are a great source of protein and a very mild, nutty flavor. Now…
  • I love my whole grain, old fashioned oatmeal for breakfast. However, after some research, I have started eating mainly protein for breakfast - 4 egg whites scrambled with veggies, or a cup of 1% cottage cheese and melon and I have found that I am less hungry throughout the day. It has helped with those hunger pains. good…
  • You should print this message board stream out and keep a copy at your desk and a copy at home to read if you ever feel down, need health living strength or just want a smile, because you are amazing! Your lifestyle change is inspiring and you are a great writer. Thank you for taking the time through your blog to share…
  • bump, awsome idea
  • did u use slow cooking oats or instant?
  • Marinade in Italian Dressing (the longer the better I usually do a day, but have even done 2 days) and grill. Let sit for 10 minutes before slicing then, slice at an angle.
  • Great job; how did you get there?
  • Very funny Crystal, I won't even be attempting a "real" one until Day 6; I should probably wear a hockey mask for protection!
  • to sewso happy: You've lost 40! Great job, that's hard work. Be careful with this workout and your bursitis -- go at your own pace and don't get hurt!
  • I do b/c my calories are set pretty low - 1250 and I'm hungry when I work out.
  • 2lb weights - I am female, 40s. I may try 3lbs tomorrow.
  • You were on your honeymoon, you deserved a break. You'll get back to where you were. I gained 7lbs in 12 days while on vacation due to beer, wine, ice cream, potato chips. Had fun, but wow, I have to be militant to get it off. Water helps.
  • I am a Mom to one boy and I also work full time. I got half way through 30DS ten days ago. I had done 3 or 4 days in a row of level 2 and my knees started bothering me, then I went on vacation for a week. My knees have calmed down, so, tonight I am restarting 30ds and will do 2 days in a row, then one day off of 30DS when…
  • I joined the Jillian Michaels 30DS 7/1/12 Start group as well, which has been much more active. I did Day 7 on Level 1 today, so I am behind you. I've been meandering through 30DS due to vacation time. But on my days off I have been active with swimming and other outdoor stuff. I've really felt I'm getting stronger in 2…
  • Terryism: I did Day 5 today. AFter Days 1 -3 I had a sore neck as well. Your neck isn't invited to the abs party. On the abs work try to look up at the ceiling. I still struggle with this. I didn't notice neck issues on jumping jacks, I am pretty sure my neck issues are from the abws work. I ended up taking a one week…
  • Jillian Michael's exercise DVD (also on you tube I hear) - 30 Day Shred.
  • THanks sweetpea: I did try to look up on crunches this morning which was Day 3 for me. I did notice JM saying your neck isn't invited to the party, but man, my neck is not relaxed at all. Guess I"ve got to concentrate on that. Neck doesn't hurt today at work, but that may be because I loaded up on 600mg of ibuprofen a…

  • Thanks for starting this group. Did Day 2 this morning. I was a little intimidated / worried I would be totally sore, but I am better than I expected. My arms are really sore from those dang pushups, haven't done them in like 20 years. I knew my arms would be a problem so I am only using one pound arm weights. I'll move up…

  • I just did day 1 this morning. Not sore, yet, but I didn't really push myself. I expect that after sitting at my desk job all day, I'll be stiff and sore. I've heard about people being very sore and I've also heard about lots of knee injuries, so I am taking it slow. I hate, hate, hate the push ups. I only used 1 pound for…
  • need inspiration to break my current plateau, thank you
  • Homemade soup or stew that you freeze and put in the cooler. It'll act as ice for the stuff in the cooler then put it on the stove to heat up. Hot soup is a welcome first course for dinner or a life saver if you get rained on. Make a heartier soup, stew or maybe beef stroganoff for a main course.
  • I've had knee issues since I was a teen (multiple dislocations, PT 3x previously). Thought I damaged my meniscus at the end of Feb., MRI showed it turned out to be just a strain, so no where near as serious as your injury. Had to use a cane and brace for 10 days or so and was in PT for 6 weeks. I logged my PT as cardio -…

  • I just finished PT for about 7 weeks due to a knee injury. I was on a big plateau during that period but at the end started to lose weight. The good news is that your PT will provide you with a safe workout. Check with your doc, maybe this week you can do some exercises leading up to PT, like simple tensing your leg…
  • I am on 1250 a day. This is probably the fewest calories I have ever eaten and it has not been easy. I was so hungry (initially was on 1200 calories a day) that I went back and changed my goals to the recommended 1 pound a week to lose goal which gave me 50 calories extra. I am responding to your inquiry because I was…
